08:56 crab jfuller: good to hear you're upgrading to 5.10 just after support for it has ceased ;-)
08:57 crab i had a very hard time deciding to move from apache 1.3 to 2.x
08:57 crab i finally did move, because mod_gzip in 1.3 sucked, and i didn't feel like trying to backport the changes from 2.x. but i was never happy with 2.x, and switched away to nginx soon afterwards.

15:09 marty sri:  You use "under" in the example but you do not define what "under" does before you use it.
15:10 sri you're supposed to know already
15:10 sri from the lite tutorial
15:10 marty Ahhhh, ok, that explains it.   sorry.
15:10 sri there are many more such cases i suppose
15:11 marty I don't use lite so I never spent much time with that tutorial
15:11 sri i see
15:11 sri you're supposed to start with lite and learn to grow from then on

15:12 marty ok, that makes sense.  I get it now.

15:13 sri since most of the code is exactly the same

19:08 sri interesting, the format of stringified regexes changed too

19:34 sri miyagawa++
19:34 sri works flawless
19:35 sri and is portable from 5.10 to 5.14

19:56 j-v-e perl 5.8...... I still have that on some centos boxes
19:57 j-v-e I remember seeing an update procedure for centos somewhere, somebody has that ?
19:57 j-v-e (other than perlbrew)
20:01 sri i just don't use a system perl
20:01 sri (and yes, all perlbrew now)
20:02 sri why would you use centos anyway?
20:02 j-v-e arf !
20:02 j-v-e because my boss asked me too ?
20:03 sri it's all the disadvantages of RHEL without the benefits
20:03 j-v-e I would have put debian everywhere
20:03 j-v-e well, who knows, someday I might want to pass the RHCE and do independant work, so doing some centos isn't that bad :)
20:04 j-v-e any, going to install perlbrew on the prod server :p
20:04 sri i'd rather make the here and now better than hoping for a brighter uncertain future
20:06 j-v-e present is pretty bright on its own, if the only problem I have to complain about is using a linux distribution that's not on top of my list, I would call that a satisfying job
20:08 sri damn, mongolab is really not bad
20:08 sri you can choose which cloud you want your free instance on
20:09 sri currently rackspace and ec2
20:10 j-v-e does it hosts the DB only ?
20:10 sri ye
20:11 sri they just got $3m funding, so there seems to be some faith in the idea
20:16 j-v-e there are more investers than developpers in the silicon valley
20:16 j-v-e not sure if that's a good metric
20:17 miyagawa IMO much better than the other way round
20:18 sri well, this way the bubble gets bigger and bigger
20:18 j-v-e I see people with a blury idea and not coding skills raising funding to hire developpers to build there stuffs, sometimes the idea is completely hilarious, but the money comes anyway
20:19 j-v-e I wasn't old enough in 2000, but it looks like a deja-vu :)
20:20 sri i was so sure facebook would burst at some point
