04:06 batman hi
04:11 batman i suggested to use Mojo::UserAgent to this guy, and he comes back complaining later that it does do the right thing: Mojo::UserAgent->new->get(get('http://www.datakjeden.no/CBC.aspx?q=c:36376;pfd:pvk-e2993v732403v1521819v1521823v1521822e3045v732396;ps:1000'); modifies the query string.
04:12 batman so i argue that the query string is messed up because of the semicolons, while he argue that mojo shouldn't alter the query string at all
04:17 batman mojo thinks this is a four part query string, so when it puts it back togeter it turns into q=c%3A36376;pfd%3Apvk-.....=;ps%3A1000=
04:21 batman i also argue that it works as expected if ; is replaced with %3b, but he still thinks it's wrong
04:21 batman what do you think?
04:21 purl I think batman should try flossing more often!
04:21 batman i agree purl...

05:16 sri batman: yea, that query string is messed up
05:18 sri you can actually argue both ways
05:19 sri we could theoretically support both, raw untouched query string by default and parsed if modified using higher level Mojo::Parameters methods, but so far nobody seemed to like that approach enough to send patches

06:13 batman sri: you could cache the original string and then use it when mojo.... nononono! :)
06:14 d4rkie joined #mojo
06:14 sri yes, but then you have a dwim problem
06:14 batman good to hear sri :) i was afraid i was far off
06:14 sri because people will give you urls with characters in the query string that need to be escaped
06:14 sri like i said before, you can argue both ways
06:15 sri ; is a valid pair separator, so parsing or keeping the raw string could both be right
06:15 batman oh. maybe i lost part of the response... disconnected 06:21:38 CEST
06:16 sri that's why we have a channel log
06:16 D4RK-PH0ENiX left #mojo
06:17 sri i actually  wouldn't mind a patch that keeps the original string as long as possible
06:17 batman ah. nice
06:17 sri but it would have to handle cases like this one http://sharifulin.ru/привет/?q=шарифулин
06:20 batman another thing... is ; a valid separator despite of the document type? i see it is mentioned in the html 4.01 spec, but i'm not sure if that's the only place or if it's a general rule
06:20 batman though i cannot see how the server can know the document type from the referer...
06:20 sri document type has nothing to do with it

08:48 sri wait, return costs extra?
08:48 d4rkie joined #mojo
08:48 moritz yes
08:48 yko exactly
08:48 moritz sub { 1 }  is faster than sub { return 1 }
08:49 sri ok, that's because of optimization
08:49 sri sub { 1 } becomes a constant
08:49 moritz only sub () { 1 } iirc
08:50 moritz hm, seems that perl-5.14.1 optimizes out the 'return'

08:59 moritz and 25% von perl-5.10.1
08:59 moritz (I've changed the repetition count to -2)
08:59 yko i have 5.14.0 here, only 9%. strange

09:30 moritz WTF?
09:30 moritz did you manually review the diff?
09:33 moritz fwiw on 5.14.0 the results vary quite a bit
09:33 moritz I've done three runs now, and got 12%, 16% and 20%
09:34 moritz now 8%
09:34 sri ok, my benchmark was not clean
09:35 sri i have a small gain now, around 3%
09:35 crab i really would suggest not to make "optimisations" like that.
09:36 moritz if readability doesn't suffer, why not?
09:36 crab i think readability suffers greatly.

10:02 crab you find the bugs you test for.
10:04 moritz if you don't test for the return value of your subroutines, what *do* you test?
10:06 sri https://github.com/kraih/mojo/pull/166 # thoughts?
10:07 sri no tests is of course a total deal breaker, but the feature itself
10:09 * moritz doesn't see why not
10:10 sri the pod renderer is a big hack
10:10 sri the question is if we really want others to depend on it
10:11 moritz is it marked as experimenta?
10:11 sri no
10:11 sri why would it?
10:12 sri it's not like we could make the code much better

16:36 moritz well, but if you use Mojolicious, you have perl available
16:36 moritz so it should be enough if they ship with perl, no?
16:36 alnewkirk|com KiokuDB is nice, ..., but doesn't comply because its only an interface to various bckends, etc
16:37 alnewkirk|com yes and no, when i say "ships-with" ... I mean part of the framework .... which means it benefits from the frameworks structure, etc

17:18 curtis_ I'm moving some code from Mojolicious::Lite to Mojoliocious, one of the routes I have in lite was this: "get '/history/:tti_unique_id' => [ tti_unique_id => qr/\d+/ ] => sub {" and now that I'm putting it into Mojolicious I can't find the documentation that shows me how to check input like that. I imagine its somewhere, I'm just failing at finding it ...
17:19 sri it's almost equal
17:19 sri ->get('.../:tti...', tti_... => qr//)
17:22 curtis_ oh, didn't realize get() was an actual method ... I assume its just combining route() and via() into one call? If I was to use route then: route('.../:tti...', tti_... => qr//)  ?
17:23 sri ye
17:23 curtis_ thanks :)

18:17 ph1g noticing it's not behaving as expected through my proxy. curl works, but the get request from UA, provided in mojo, are somewhat curious, IE the full URL being passed after the GET in the request. I get no response
