01:04 tempire #1 reason why Mojo::UserAgent is superior to LWP: MOJO_USERAGENT_DEBUG=1
01:20 xantus2 last night (2am) I started a mojo project
01:20 elb0w` xantus2: at now you're hooked?
01:20 xantus2 an event bus that supports websocket, eventsource, and long polling
01:20 xantus2 oh, Ive been hooked on mojo for a while now
01:21 xantus2 https://github.com/xantus/
01:22 xantus2 https://github.com/xantus/mojo-eventbus
01:23 xantus2 it will support in memory, and couchdb out of the box
01:23 xantus2 and memcached for the caching layer
01:24 xantus2 mailbox style, so you can be disconnected for a brief amount of time and still get a back log of your events
01:25 xantus2 I'm probably going to move the project (and name) to ignite
01:31 xantus2 https://github.com/xantus/ignite
01:31 xantus2 if you're interested in hitting watch
02:32 elb0w` xantus2: what does the * represent?
03:02 tempire xantus2: I'm considering a similar project
03:02 tempire LET THE GAMES BEGIN
03:02 tempire You're ahead of me, though.  I don't even have a readme.

08:06 toebu question: in a template, I would like to run an <%= include %> section only if a specific template file does NOT exit
08:07 toebu easy enough to check (using perl filetest operators) but how can I know the location of the template directory ?
08:08 omega toebu: I would check for existance in perl-land, and pass a variable to the view telling it the result
08:08 omega or possibly use some try/catch, if such a thing exists in the mojo template thingy
08:08 omega (I only use TT)
08:12 Vandal why TT?
08:15 omega because I know it and like it?

09:05 toebu I just need to know how to determine mojo_home from within a ep template
09:39 spleenjack joined #mojo
09:47 tempire toebu: in lite app: %= app->home
09:47 tempire or better yet, put it in the stash
09:47 tempire in full mojolicious, $self->app->home
09:48 toebu yep just figured that ... so from within the template I only get direct access to stuff that is in the stash ?

09:59 tempire normally, yes.
09:59 sri and with the 1.99 release our rebranding to real-time web framework is complete :)
09:59 tempire in a lite app, you can cheat because it's all in one file, but you probably shouldn't
10:00 tempire real-time?  wow, that mojolicious framework is really HOT

15:35 david06_ So i'm wondering if it is possible for Mojolicious to serve pre-existing CGI files, anyone done this or know if it is possible?
15:37 spleenjack joined #mojo
15:37 judofyr david06_: wouldn't it be better to just let Apache/Nginx handle that?
15:39 david06_ judofyr: Well I dunno, it would be nice to be able to route or redirect to a CGI file. Just wondering if its possible or if its a silly thought
15:40 sri i would go with silly thought
15:40 sri if you're crazy enough it's possible though :)
15:41 david06_ To be honest the system i'm working on has a ton of CGI files that pretty much just print out info. I'm thinkin now that it might be better to just convert em to html templates and have mojo render them
15:41 sri Mojolicious::Plugin::PlackMiddleWare + Plack::APP::CGIBin should make it possible
15:41 sri just guessing though, nobody has done it before
15:41 sri (to my knowledge)
15:42 judofyr (and sri has quite a lot of knowledge!)
15:43 david06_ @sri: ok i'll take a look at it, I appreciate the insight. I just wanted to make sure that it wasnt practical before I commited time to converting them. Thanks
15:43 judofyr srithegrey++
15:44 srithegrey for everyday usage i would always suggest letting a real web server handle cgis (or converting them to native mojolicious of course)

19:21 metaperl|2 wow. I'd first have to figure out ruby. My brain was wired to think like Perl
19:22 metaperl|2 but it looks like a great win - a powerful language saving you from dealing with js or flash --- even though js is not a bad language - there are way too many directions people went with object systems
