00:10 sri no chance in hell anyone actually used those two :)
00:13 sri still remember when we started with the *_cb convention *shudders*
00:22 marty I remember those days.   Dark times.  :)

01:33 tempire I think I'm going to move mojocasts to youtube
01:33 tempire you can reskin videos, apparently
01:34 tempire and their api is likely more refined than the js for the video tag, which is kind of quirky.

03:41 tempire boo
03:42 tempire just like vimeo, youtube won't allow high quality 800x600
03:43 tempire it's ridiculous that hd implies wide-screen.
03:43 tempire doesn't make any sense.
03:44 tempire bah.
03:44 tempire html5 video remains, then.
03:46 tempire guess I should move to wide-screen, though.
03:46 tempire just for compatibility with the whole freaking world.

14:25 crab utf8 "\xA9" does not map to Unicode at /home/ams/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.12.3/lib/site_perl/5.12.3/Mojo/Exception.pm line 86, <GEN390> line 3636.
14:25 crab what does that actually mean?
14:27 crab some perl module somewhere in some stacktrace contains an iso-8859-1 copyright symbol?
15:07 Patterner utf 8 encoded codepoints cannot start with "10" (binary)

15:34 crab thanks, that's very helpful.

15:44 marcus tempire: yay widescreen
15:45 marcus tempire: it's possible to block search sub links you dislike through the google webmaster tools
15:47 Patterner I'd say that there's a iso-8859 copyright symbol in a source that's declared it's actually UFT-8. so you're right.
15:49 sri Mojo::Exception reads all perl source files as UTF-8
15:50 sri since… who would be crazy enough to use another encoding for perl source?
15:53 marcus sri: websymbols font was really neat btw.
15:58 crab sri: lots of modules have iso-8859-1 copyright symbols, it seems (digging around in my ~/perl5/perlbrew/perls/*/lib)
16:01 sri crab: feel free to improve Mojo::Exception, i don't know how to handle that better
16:01 marcus sri: apropos unicode, maybe Mojolicious should set the unicode_strings feature? https://metacpan.org/module/feature#the-unicode_strings-feature
16:02 sri marcus: maybe once we reach that perl version
16:02 marcus it seems very dwimy
16:03 marcus but I guess people can just set it in their apps. Also open qw(:encoding(UTF-8) :std);
16:03 crab sri: what is it actually trying to do?
16:17 sri crab: that should make it obvious

16:22 sri it's about gathering context information for the stack trace
16:23 sri we somehow have to read all the perl source files
16:25 sri crab: is it just a warning or does it die?
16:29 sri anyway, i have to go for a bit, you found it, you're responsible now :)

18:50 sri hmm
18:52 sri i'm considering more simplistic stack traces
18:53 sri http://twitpic.com/7h0m85/full # maybe like this
18:54 sri thoughts?
18:54 purl "I'm never here, I'm never here, I'm never here  /  never a bird, or a flower in the tree, or the pain of the respect thereof..."
18:54 * sri pokes crab, tempire and marcus
18:54 marcus sri: I like the more simplistic stack traces.
18:55 sri less cute but more useful i think
18:57 marcus compared to http://nordaaker.com/docs/skitch/Server_Error-20111120-195659.jpg right?
18:57 sri right
18:58 marcus much more readable too
18:58 sri yea, that's the point
18:58 sri less wow, more useful
18:59 marcus +1 from me
19:02 * marcus is actually a bit in love with the psgi debug middleware
19:03 sri you mean django debug middleware
19:03 marcus I encourage stealing
19:04 marcus I bet the django one doesn't integrate with NYTProfiler tho.

19:39 sri but that of course requires a separate browser window
19:41 sri it can be done as a mojolicious plugin, with events sending websocket messages to a pretty browser app that can handle statistcis for multiple parallel requests
19:41 tempire I like new readability of the new stack traces
19:41 tempire sometimes the lines of code help to see what's going on, but if you're debugging, you still open up the file for context.

19:42 sri https://github.com/kraih/mojo/commit/e87963d6bb30e4e9959cca1041b31af78f310e82
19:43 tempire so much red!
19:43 sri yea, it's a lot cheaper
19:44 sri also reminds me that i wanted a diagnostics app for hypnotoad servers
19:44 tempire to diagnose what, exactly?
19:45 sri EVERYTHING!
19:45 purl i guess everything is "omg, it must take over the world"
19:45 sri i want to watch live what the servers are doing
19:45 tempire that would be excellent.
19:45 * tempire watches his first  mongodb screencast
19:46 sri it's also quite expensive (time)
19:47 sri actually not that hard to implement, but a lot of design work

20:47 tempire hmm
20:48 tempire mongodb really is presented in a way that's much more consumable than riak
20:53 tempire it's the command line tool, I think.
20:53 tempire which is an after-thought with riak
20:53 sri can't really compare them
20:54 sri mongodb is a real document database, while riak is mostly key/value store
20:54 sri the document indexing part is an afterthought in riak
20:54 sri that really defines mongodb, real documents with dynamic secondary indexes and ad-hoc queries
