03:57 crab sure.
03:58 crab it happens when your application doesn't send a response within nginx's proxy timeout

04:43 cfedde How do I get the UTF in this channels topic to display properly in irssi/screen?
04:44 tempire lulz. I had the same problem with colloquy
04:44 tempire solution: switch to limechat :)
04:44 cfedde heh.
04:45 cfedde also why is my test giving me this error? t/create.t .. Use of uninitialized value $host in concatenation (.) or string at /home/cfedde/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.14.1/lib/site_perl/5.14.1/Mojo/UserAgent.pm line 223.
04:46 tempire gist the line in create.t that it's coming from
04:49 cfedde https://gist.github.com/1998769 is the whole very simple test.
04:52 tempire don't know. looks fine. probably something to do with your deadman lite app.
04:52 tempire try it with a newly generated lite app
04:55 cfedde ratz. I was hoping I was missing something easy.
05:08 cfedde It appears to "work" under morbo. somehow self test fails.

05:45 cfedde Ok. the Mojolicious::Lite version self tests fine. I seem to have mucked up something when I inflated that script.
05:55 cfedde bah! the problem was that I was using the test as if I was doing Mojolicious::Lite. the fix was to actualy follow the instructions in the growing guide.
05:58 d4rkie joined #mojo
06:11 tempire ah. I had assumed you were using lite because of the require

10:30 batman stephan48: you could pass on the session key to the actual request and the use that to look up the session data in backend
10:30 batman like <input type="hidden" name="session_key" value="<%= $session_key %>">
10:33 batman or %= hidden_field session_key => $session_key; #:)
10:37 batman is there a way i can increase inactivity_timeout globally? i'm proxying requests which may take 30 seconds before they respond with anything
10:38 batman Mojo::IOLoop->stream($self->tx->connection)->timeout(300); # this works for the server i suppose, but what about the client?
10:40 stephan48 batman: signed sesion cookie..
10:41 stephan48 i dont keep the data in backend
10:41 batman ok

11:43 sri oh, all orilly perl books are 50% off todat
11:45 marcus oi
11:46 Netfeed anyone that can be recommended?
11:47 Netfeed except the boring camel book
11:49 kanishka its there any web hosting which support mojolicious with a database (SQL preffered)
11:49 sri with the code 4UNEW you get another 40% off :o
11:50 * sri is a sucker for stacking coupon codes and buys almost everything
11:51 Netfeed kanishka: heroku?
11:51 purl heroku is deployment with git push, dotcloud with a custom upload command that just copies over directories recursively
11:53 sri Netfeed: PBP is a must have
11:53 kanishka Netfeed: I haven't figured out heroku works
11:53 sri depending on your level the learning, intermediate, mastering series is also very good
11:54 sri mastering regular expressions is a classic
11:54 Netfeed kanishka: i like linode, but that's kinda handson
11:54 sri algorithms with perl is fun

11:55 kanishka Netfeed: I though of getting ec2 amazon but its bit of costly as seen
11:55 Netfeed 19 dollar or something for the smallest linode
11:55 kanishka yeah just saw the server
11:55 kanishka 512
11:56 sri first of all... why does it have to be a virtual server?
11:56 kanishka is there any alternative to build site rather a virtual server
11:56 Netfeed just said what i liked :)
11:56 sri you get pretty good deals for full servers over at hetzner
11:57 Netfeed sri: i get so easily bored with programming books, a lot of kinda boring extra text
11:57 Netfeed kinda liked zed shaws books
11:57 sri you'll like PBP
11:57 sri short recipes, straight to the point
11:57 dpetrov_ sri: is that for regular books or just for ebooks?
11:58 Netfeed sri: that sounds promising
11:58 sri http://shop.oreilly.com/category/deals/perl-programming-power.do?imm_mid=0805c2&cmp=em-orm-books-videos-perl-owo-direct-splitB
11:59 dpetrov_ hmm so it's ebooks
11:59 sri mastering regular expressions and PBP being the must have ones
11:59 dpetrov_ PBP++
12:00 kanishka does orielly ship internationally ?
12:00 dpetrov_ why Damian didn't publish a second edition?
12:03 Netfeed the regexp book was kinda good from what i remember
12:19 stephan48 tempire: i dont
12:23 stephan48 Netfeed: which one?
12:24 Netfeed mastering regular expressions
12:24 purl mastering regular expressions is a very helpful book for Perl.
12:26 sri don't know much about the regex cookbook yet, but it looks interesting
12:27 * sri is also a sucker for cookbooks
12:34 stephan48 can i download all formats with oreilly or do i have to choose one?
12:34 sri all
12:34 stephan48 ah cool
12:34 stephan48 tempire: my problem is that on a ajax(Xhr) request the cookie tagged with httponly is not passed along

12:49 marcus If I used screen, I would use irsii
12:50 Netfeed i prefer weechat honestly, feels "faster", only thing that bugs me is that it breaks urls
12:51 Netfeed man, you're in a lot of channels
12:55 sri hmm
12:56 moritz I have some problem with Mojo::DOM and UTF-8 handling on bleadperl: https://gist.github.com/2000876
12:57 moritz a smoker alerted me to a test failure of a module of mine on the lastest release, and that gist is what it boils down to
12:57 moritz should I pester you or #p5p?
12:57 sri umm, why do you double decode?
12:57 moritz do I?
12:57 moritz where?
12:58 sri oh, my bad, it's STDOUT
12:59 moritz the same code seems to work fine on 5.14.1
12:59 moritz well, I haven't run the condensed code on 5.14.1, but the test of my module pass, so should amount to the same thing
13:04 sri hmm, the green dots in front of channels in the new textual are a little annoying

13:05 sri can someone say my name so i can test highlighting? :)
13:05 moritz fwiw http://www.cpantesters.org/cpan/report/4bd899b6-617e-11e1-8ddd-3b73d9f05f36 was the report that alerted me to the problem. http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=WebService-Libris+0.04 seems to suggest that not all 5.15.{7,8} systems exhibit that problem
13:05 kokey in a perl ep template, is there a way to test if a value has been stashed?
13:06 kokey if I do a if($stashedthing) or if(defined($stashthing)) and it's not been stashed, it hates me
13:06 kokey hi sri
13:06 moritz iirc if (stash('name')) { }
13:06 moritz but it's been long since I used it
13:06 kokey ah, cool, thanks, I'll look it up
13:07 kokey I think I scanned the docs a bit quickly

13:42 sri ecommerce is hard
13:43 * marty nods
13:43 moritz left #mojo
13:53 Netfeed what's the hardest part of ecommerce?
13:55 kokey there is always more to it than you can see initially
13:55 Netfeed but that's true for all apps?
13:57 kokey you think you just display some images with descriptions, in categories, have user sessions, do a shopping basket, and a check out with integration with a payment gateway, and shipping options...
13:58 kokey then you need a support system for customer queries, a way to populate the DB and track stock accurately, integration with a stock system if there was ever one, then an accounting back end
13:59 kokey in the end you should have just spent a number of weeks evaluation products to find something that covers your needs
14:01 Netfeed ofcourse, but then again, it's something you need to do for most apps isn't it?
14:01 Netfeed view stuff, track stuff, insert stuff

17:46 tempire That's why I said "minimalistic" :)
17:47 tempire At the moment, it's more for ease of access to #mojo than as a general purpose client
17:49 tempire especially for people for whom "logging into irc.perl.org so you can ask mojo questions" is a first time multi-hour project
17:51 tempire mewowe: I didn't support nick changing because I wanted to cut down on the spammyness of the xantus' client by enforcing identity
17:52 tempire maybe it wouldn't be a problem, since the login itself might already cut that out
17:53 tempire actually, it was mostly to understand eventsource, and to be just another pretty Mojolicious thing to showcase
