10:01 fibo good morning!
10:01 purl For you maybe.
10:02 fibo I have a controller that handle a post, then I need to do a put to create an uri
10:03 fibo does it make sense to do a $self->ua->put( .. ) inside the controller action ?

20:22 * Debolaz pokes the sri
20:22 * sri wakes up and yawns

20:32 Debolaz sri: How is Mojo in terms of memory usage relative to other frameworks?
20:35 sri that's not something i particularly care about, so not a clue
20:36 * Debolaz has to design an embedded system and would rather have something that didn't consume catalyst-esque amounts of memory.
20:38 Debolaz I'm also assuming you've not tested Mojo on ARM yet? :)
20:39 sri actually i think mojo has been used on ARM a few times already, but i don't remember details
20:40 sri at least one hacked up Mojo to make it use a lot less memory afair
20:41 sri clean structure makes it rather easy to remove features
20:43 sri i've heard some crazy stories from people even removing mojolicious POD for embedded systems
21:03 * tempire awaits a blog entry of crazy stories

21:45 chansen Debolaz: Are you serious? Your target is ARM with limited CPU and RAM, and you ask how Perl performs on such a platform?
21:46 Debolaz chansen: Is that a question you consider wrong to ask? :-P
21:46 Debolaz It's not a horrible platform, it's got 500 MHz so it's not unreasonable to look at scripted solutions.
21:49 xaka joined #mojo
21:50 chansen Debolaz: Perl is as you know a dynamic language, Perl sacrifice memory for improved runtime performance. It may not be something that is intresant on a platform with limited memory!
21:52 Debolaz Not using a scripting language isn't an option, the code needs to be very reliable and it becomes more difficult to make reliable applications in C because of the mental overhead of that (and such a) language.
21:53 Debolaz Perl may not necessarily be the right tool for the job, but neither is the alternative you seem to be hinting at.
22:02 chansen Debolaz I do not refer to a particular language. It seems wherever you are out fishing in a water that you have not fished in the past!
22:02 Debolaz chansen: And it seems you are just writing weird things for the sake of it. :-P
22:02 * Debolaz goes back to being productive.
22:05 chansen Debolaz: You may indeed wish it, anyone in the Perl community can prove that you are wrong!
22:08 Debolaz Ok, I tried to be a bit polite there but that apparently failed. The thing here is: I have a problem that I need to solve. No matter how many times you tell me that this or that is stupid, that doesn't make this problem go away. You are not bringing me any closer to a solution, you are merely spouting stuff that is frankly quite ignorant. You know very little about the platform I'm working on, you don't know how much memory or other resources I have to operate
22:08 Debolaz You seem to be of the mindset that machines either have 4 MB ram or 2 GB ram. That's just plain dumb. The world doesn't work like that.
22:10 Debolaz And all you keep telling me is that I'm wrong, despite knowing next to nothing about the project. You're not helping, you're not changing my mind, and worse; You're not even trying to do that.
22:11 Debolaz So if you have useful information that would help, great. If you don't, that's fine too. But I have a problem that needs to be solved here and no amount of dumb comments are going to make that problem go away.
22:11 * Debolaz makes another attempt to go back to being productive. :-P
22:23 chansen Debolaz: I have not tried to be rude, but your first question caused me to be conservative, I can not give you any definitive answers about Perl performance for your project, please evaluate it yourself.
22:26 chansen If you bare considering a dynamic language Perl wont  let you down
22:27 Psyche^ joined #mojo
22:30 Debolaz chansen: But what I asked for wasn't how perl would do on ARM, what I asked for was how mojo would do relative to *other web frameworks for perl*. We are going to evaluate properly how perl works on this platform before deciding on it.
22:32 chansen regardless, I need to acknowledge DTS according to existing EU rules, Good night!
22:32 Debolaz Nighty.
