07:32 Coff sri: Wrt yesterdays discussion about mojo-rewrite for P6; I (that is my company) would also pay towards getting work on that done. Not because I feel the need to start using P6 asap, but because getting more stuff ready for it, and made well, is a good thing.
08:05 Coff It is quite nice starting the day with a cup of excellent coffee, a silent apartment and some perl-coding.

14:45 batman i like google analytics: it tells me blogging on a saturday night is not a good idea...
15:15 sri tuesday is the best day for blogging in my experience
15:19 sri hmm, spdy has a lot of support in the http working group
15:21 sri pretty much only proxy vendors that are opposed to it now
15:24 sri most even insist mandatory encryption and compression
15:24 sri that will not be fun for web developers at all
15:25 sri mandatory tls certificates for every single backend server... it's soooo stupid

17:16 crab i think it's better than leaking paswords over plaintext
17:17 crab mandatory tls certificates are painful only because more software doesn't generate a random self-signed certificate by itself

17:19 lisa hello everyone
17:20 crab hello
17:21 lisa is there someone here who feels responsible for the documentation? i have a small suggestion (optionally in the form of a patch?)...
17:22 batman lisa: you could fork the project on github and make the changes there and send sri a pull request
17:22 batman do you have a github account?
17:22 * sri waves
17:22 lisa i think i may have created one at some point in the distant past
17:22 batman :)
17:23 lisa i'll do that, then
17:23 batman i think there's too many acconuts... can't everyone just do facebook connect? :P
17:23 sri crab: how does an insecure certificate accomplish anything?
17:23 lisa what i want to do: change the example code in the docs to use prepared statements when accessing a SQL database
17:23 batman sri: does that sound right, what i just said?
17:23 crab lisa: why?
17:23 lisa batman: AOL. let's all connect on AOL.
17:23 sri lisa: in which example?
17:23 batman ao-what? ;)
17:24 lisa sri: let me see
17:24 crab batman: if someone is coming here to discuss a change, i'd rather discuss it with them instead of saying "send a pull request". but otherwise, sure.
17:25 lisa crab: hmm, prepared statements are a good thing to default to, security-wise (SQL injections and all). and since people seem to have a habit of copy-and-paste-ing tutorial code...
17:25 batman crab: ok. will keep that in mind.
17:25 sri crab: it would also be mandatory for backend services
17:26 batman lisa: in which manual is this example?
17:26 lisa batman: i'm just trying to find the one where i noticed this
17:26 crab sri: backend services like what?
17:27 sri crab: like your load balancing proxy talking to your app servers
17:27 crab oh
17:28 crab well, that is a bit annoying.
17:28 sri and it gets worse
17:28 sri spdy compression is stateful
17:28 sri you need to see all messages that went over a connection to be able to inspect the last one
17:29 crab down with spdy!
17:30 sri i have a bad feeling spdy is a done deal
17:30 sri at leats judging by the last few posts in the working group
17:31 sri facebook, google, mozilla, twitter and a few others have put all their weight behind it
17:31 crab i can't immediately find any SQL statements in the mojo documentation at all
17:31 sri crab: i suspect it's a wiki page
17:31 crab ah. that's different, then.
17:32 * sri is already planning spdy in mojolicious
17:32 lisa sri: quite possible. i'm still looking, too.
17:32 lisa sri: oh. nifty.
17:32 sri lisa: if it's the wiki, you're welcome to just change it yourself :)
17:33 lisa (docs-nagging aside, i'm loving mojolicious. and not just because the default http 500 page is a unicorn trex that's barfing a rainbow!)
17:33 lisa sri: obviously :)
17:35 sri ALL GLORY TO THE FAILRAPTOR!
17:36 lisa hmkay. i shall continue the digging and make the change when (if?) i find the database statement stuff

17:38 * sri nods
17:39 crab we insist on palaeontological accuracy!
17:39 sri and a made up one from jurassic park at that
