08:28 crab hi marcus. how are you today?
08:29 crab http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Delhi/article3699413.ece <- we didn't have power for >24 hours because of a cat that got fried in a power substation.
08:41 sri it was only a test run for when the cats take over

10:12 niczero Mojo/Reactor/Poll/DESCRIPTION
10:13 niczero "does not use a monotonic clock"
10:13 niczero Does that mean its clock can go backwards?
10:14 sri yes
10:14 niczero k
10:15 sri monotoic clocks are a portability nightmare, so i'm leaving that to more advanced reactor backends like EV
10:16 niczero It's probably too late to be asking this, but did we enter Mojolicious in any olympic events?
10:20 sri anyone on windows can run this oneliner?
10:20 sri perl -MTime::HiRes -E 'say Time::HiRes::clock_gettime(Time::HiRes::CLOCK_MONOTONIC)'
10:20 sri on os x it's unimplemented
10:22 sri and works on linux
10:23 sri http://grep.cpan.me/?q=CLOCK_MONOTONIC # interesting how little monotonic clocks are used on cpan
10:25 sri just 3 modules as far as i can see :o
10:26 sri oh wait, one of them only in xs
10:27 sri just AnyEvent and some yandex module
10:37 niczero sri: nope, unimlemented on Windows (strawberries)
10:37 sri looks like a linux only feature then
10:38 niczero didn't know about (or had forgotten) grep.cpan.me; that'll be useful
10:38 sri i use it all the time
10:38 sri especially now that it's up to date again
10:39 jamesw well linux / bsd excepting mac os x
10:39 niczero I'd expected it on all unices; surprised it's not on osx
10:39 sri well, bsd doesn't really count ;p
10:44 jamesw interestingly enough python-monotonic-time supports linux, bsd and windows, and mac os x with a 'very small c library'
10:45 jamesw or it would if there were any source
10:50 sri ooh, it even has an api
10:50 sri http://grep.cpan.me/api?q=mojo
10:51 jamesw oh there it is, clock_gettime, GetTickCount and some mach clock service

15:14 moritz hi. Why has render_file_to_file been removed? and has there been any sort of deprecation notice?
15:15 sri nobody used it, and nope, it was removed in a major release
15:17 moritz I'm curious, how do you determine if people use things?
15:18 sri cpan grep, search irc/list archives, and of course ask here
15:20 sri render_file for example only susrvived because we use it internally
15:21 sri however, it also resulted in the addition of Mojo::Util::spurt :)
15:24 sri moritz: how would you determine it?
15:25 sri moritz: there is also no need to cut'n paste all those lines
15:25 moritz sri: I don't know any good way to determine it, which is why I'm asking
15:26 sri b($mt->render)->encode->spurt('index.html') will do just fine
15:26 moritz sri: you'll miss the deadpan in all cases
15:26 sri never removing anything seems silly
15:26 moritz in this case the code that depended on render_file_to_file was on github but not on CPAN
15:27 sri too bad github doesn't have a better search engine
15:27 moritz aye
15:28 sri of course you can always petition for the readdition if you believe removing was a mistake
15:29 moritz it's OK, I was just surprised that an upgrade broke the code without any sort of advance notice
15:29 sri don't blindly pull major releases ;p
15:29 moritz same as Perl 6 then :-)
15:29 sri :D
15:30 moritz problem is, 'cpanm Mojolicious' doesn't tell me if there has been a major release since the last version I've installed
15:31 sri well, that is something we can't address
17:01 moritz left #mojo
17:22 x86 I'm looking to do something with dynamic content after rendering, but pushed from the server, not based on a client event
17:23 x86 I'm using HTML5 and have seen some stuff on WebSockets, is this the best approach?
17:24 x86 I'm also using JQuery already for client event-based dynamic content
17:26 x86 I've seen examples of a web-based IRC client using M::Lite and WebSockets, but I'd like to see some examples using the full Mojolicious, and not M::Lite

23:13 sri when i say fork the podrenderer plugin, i don't mean line for line! :S
23:15 sri http://api.metacpan.org/source/EXC/Mojolicious-Plugin-DOCRenderer-2.00/lib/Mojolicious/Plugin/DOCRenderer.pm
23:15 sri templates are not part of the public api
