00:32 tm guys... I'm trying mojo in fastcgi in lighttpd... following https://github.com/kraih/mojo/wiki/Deploying-on-Lighttpd-with-FastCGI but it can't start process... when I run the process manually ./script/my_app fastcgi I get "Unknown command "fastcgi", maybe you need to install it?" but libfcgi-perl is installed
00:33 tm anybody kind enough to stick a finger in my eye and say 'here, fool - that's how you do it'? :-)
00:44 tm never mind - sorted

01:40 zhutingting hi~
01:41 zhutingting i use b($post->{content})->html_unescape, it show error Undefined subroutine &Mojo::Template::SandBox::b
01:41 zhutingting so I must use as &Mojo::ByteStream::b($post->{content})->html_unescape to do that?
01:41 zhutingting any other good method?

04:21 tempire false promises are the devil
04:22 tempire given that there's no guarantee now, I vote for removing the guarantee completely.  especially since very few people are familiar with the differences between async backends.
04:23 tempire I'd say in the Perl community, there's probably: 1) sri 2) The AnyEvent author 3) maybe 3 other people.
04:24 amirite joined #mojo
04:34 sri dngor and LeoNerd know more than me about event loops
04:35 sri tempire: http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojo/IOLoop#start # you ok with the latest version?
04:36 tempire well that's 2 out of the 3 other people :)
04:37 sri only the actual reactor classes make more specific guarantees now
04:37 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojo/Reactor/Poll#start
04:40 tempire the only thing that pops out at me is "my $id = $loop->stream($stream)" seems weird, given "my $stream = $loop->stream($id)"
04:40 sri set and get
04:42 sri not sure how that's weird, what am i missing?
04:42 sri you only put in a stream if you make your own
04:43 tempire and it returns a newly generated id
04:43 sri yes, and the stream is in the system
04:43 tempire that makes sense given the explanation
04:44 sri ->client and ->server do that automatically for you
04:44 tempire IOLoop isn't meant as a end-user api anyway, it's fine.
04:44 * sri nods
04:45 * tempire wants to create cool stuff with event loops
04:45 * tempire cries and continues to study
04:45 * sri would like to play more with threads :S
04:46 tempire I'm excited to explore such topics with haskell
04:46 sri i give it maybe 2-3 more years and ruby/python implementations with real threads will take over from the reference implementations
04:47 * sri shakes perl6

08:18 davido I've put an HTML version of the slides from my Perl Mongers presentation about using Perl with dotCloud (some Mojolicious content) on http://perldotcloud-daoswald.dotcloud.com  The examples will set up a lite app and push it to dotCloud.  The slides were reviewed by one of dotCloud's developers.

08:32 diegok davido: do you know tempire deploy command?
08:33 diegok davido: would be really nice if deploy to dotcloud works the same as deploy to heroku :)
08:34 rem_lex|pivo joined #mojo
08:34 davido I haven't used heroku.
08:35 davido So, it's a "deploy in one step" tool?
08:36 davido With dC you initialize the namespace (dotcloud create myapp), and then push (dotcloud push myapp).
08:37 zhutingting how to update records using ORLite?
08:40 davido diegok: I found this: http://tempire.github.com/mojolicious-command-deploy-heroku/
08:41 diegok davido: yep, it's on cpan
08:41 diegok davido: but yes, it's that
08:41 davido Cool.  I'll check it out.  Nice to learn another alternative.
08:42 diegok davido: what I mean is that you can talk to him to add dotcloud support to deploy command :)
08:42 diegok would be fantastic!
08:42 davido Oh, good idea.  I'll send him an email tomorrow when I'm less sleepy. :)
08:43 diegok davido++ :)
08:43 zhutingting davido++:)
08:43 davido I know dC is actively working on adding features to their Perl services as well.  It's becoming a nice platform.
08:49 diegok davido: yes, it's nice. Only problem for mojolicious is it's not running on hypnotoad nor using a PSGI.async without nginx to allow websockets..
08:49 diegok davido: but yes it is.

08:50 davido http://docs.dotcloud.com/guides/websockets/   <<<----- Is that applicable?
08:51 davido Anyway, they're working on a new "Custom" service that affords greater flexibility.  I suspect it will open up a lot of doors when it's available.  I've got beta access to it but haven't had time to tinker yet.
08:56 davido This too: http://blog.dotcloud.com/dotcloud-announces-native-support-for-websock

14:45 sri marcus_: i think consensus is that real threads in perl are impossible as long as it uses ref counting
14:46 marcus_ sri: ios isn't even using any gc :)
14:46 marcus_ they resolve it at compile time.
14:46 sri perl is dynamic
14:46 marcus_ so is obj-c
14:47 marcus_ obj-c is a dynamic runtime on top of c
