12:02 crab maybe it'll recover magically again

19:07 sri jberger: the readme is supposed to have the same content as http://mojolicio.us
19:08 jberger not sure I ever noticed that
19:08 sri and damn! does that github pod rendering make it look ugly
19:09 jberger I was trying for a while to get them to fix the named external links thing
19:09 jberger I haven't looked lately, I wonder if they ever did
19:10 sri i see the readme on github more as a marketing tool than a source of information for users
19:10 sri just like the frontpage
19:10 marty joined #mojo
19:11 sri it's usually one of the first things people see when they stumble on a project
19:13 jberger which is why I put a link to the info on the top, but would put that actual content on the bottom
19:13 jberger when someone comes to file a bug report or pull request they see just the top of the readme, before they click issues
19:14 jberger if they are not here for those things, they will keep reading and forget they ever saw that one sentance on the top
19:14 jberger just my opinion
19:14 sri the readme is for people who are not using mojolicious yet
19:15 sri those that are know about the documentation
19:15 jberger how many of your bug filers are reading the FAQ?
19:15 jberger how many see the top of the README.pod
19:15 jberger all I'm saying is that it would be more effective, nothing about propriety
19:15 sri but the readme is not a tutorial
19:16 sri the question is who we are targeting with the readme
19:17 jberger personally, in my projects I think of the github readme as the gateway to the development side of the project
19:18 jberger often thats the same documentation as the main module, but on occaision I have contribution information there
19:18 sri well, for mojolicious the current strategy is working out pretty well ;)
19:18 jberger thats your call, it was just a suggestion
19:19 jberger in other news I have been tinkering on a command for creating a configuration file from via an HTML page
19:22 * sri likes the rails guide for contributing http://edgeguides.rubyonrails.org/contributing_to_ruby_on_rails.html

19:31 jberger that is quite nice
19:31 jberger and interestingly, they link to it from their github readme

19:31 sri if we had such a quality document, i would link to it from the frontpage as well
19:32 * sri runs away
19:32 jberger haha
19:33 jberger I doubt they would care too much if you stole a bunch of it, its licensed CCSA

22:22 sri jberger: poking me is often not the best way to get help ;)
22:22 jberger so I see
22:22 jberger I got used to it when I was asking about design considerations
22:22 jberger I should break myself of that habit
22:23 sri that said, the generator commands use DATA templates
22:23 jberger indeed, but those don't get sent to the browser
22:23 sri fun fact, commands used DATA templates before Mojolicious::Lite existed
22:24 jberger and from there it wasn't that much of a logical leap to ::Lite
22:24 * sri nods
22:24 sri before 3.0 the whole DATA handling code was still in Mojo::Command :)
22:25 smpb joined #mojo
22:25 jberger I think its interesting that Mojolicious started as full and then allowed a DSL, and Dancer started with only a DSL and IIRC 2.0 will have a "full"-ish mode
22:25 sri i think the cpan module that reused the code still refers to Mojo::Command
22:25 sri well, sinatra started the single file dsl trend
22:26 sri shortly before sinatra we went through a different single file phase :)
22:26 sri https://github.com/kraih/mojo/blob/master/t/mojolicious/lib/SingleFileTestApp.pm
22:26 sri full app in a single file ;p
22:26 jberger I think the fact that both project will end up with both modes really reinforces that both modes are useful
22:27 jberger wow, yeah, lite it nicer :)
22:27 sri pretty sure mojolicious was the first web framework in all languages to have multiple modes
22:28 sri nobody believed me when i said growing would become a thing two years ago :D
22:28 jberger I was shocked when I saw tempire's YAPC talk, and I saw how small Lite.pm was
