04:52 bizam hi mojoers!
04:53 bizam howto render from inline template $self->render(<<'EOF', 123, 'foo bar');
04:53 bizam ?
04:56 jberger bizam, I believe its by using the stash key 'inline'
04:57 jberger $self->render( inline => <<'EOF', ... );
04:58 jberger http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojolicious/Guides/Rendering#Rendering_inline_templates
05:01 bizam jbender, thank you
05:01 bizam jberger

05:06 bizam jberger: [error] Can't use global $123 in "my" at inline template line 1, near "my $123 "
05:06 bizam 1: % my ($number, $text) = @_;
05:10 buu bizam: You need to escape $number and $text
05:10 buu er
05:10 buu Or not maybe?
05:10 buu What does $number contain?
05:11 bizam $self->render(inline=><<'EOF', 123, 'foo bar');
05:31 bizam cant to pass args to inline template :(
05:40 bizam okay, render inline cant @_
05:42 Caelum params to templates are key/value pairs aren't they?
05:43 bizam yes, I did knew
05:45 Caelum according to docs in ::Controller "all additional values get merged into the stash"
05:45 ver joined #mojo
05:45 Caelum so you need to do ->render(inline => <<'EOF', num => 123, some_val => 'foo bar')
05:46 Caelum then you do <% num %> or whatever

10:14 yakubori <off topic> can anyone recommend recent documentation on how to properly package a module for upload to CPAN?
10:28 vervain yakubori: This doesn't look too bad https://www.socialtext.net/perl5/cpan_packaging
10:29 vervain There is also Dist::Zilla if you prefer near total automation with a lot of configuration
10:29 vervain There is also #perl-help
10:31 yakubori awesome. thanks :)
10:31 yakubori i think my copy of intermediate|mastering perl had steps in it -- i just couldn't tell what was still relevant :P
10:45 nic yakubori: I found the other day that even the Mojolicious Cookbook tells you the few steps required

10:46 yakubori cool, nic

10:52 vervain It could use a lot of improvement ;-)
10:59 cosmincx1 joined #mojo
10:59 vervain The cookbook of course only covers how to package modules in a mojo way.  There are several other ways.  The cookbook also doesn't tell you what's going on just a sequence of commands that can be ran.

11:55 * bizam Mojolicious->new() will not disable all default plugins
11:56 sri you can't disable them
11:57 bizam sri: hypothesis, hypno-thesis
12:00 bizam sri: is welcome to me for patch about default_plugins?
12:00 sri no
12:01 vervain bizam: Maybe disabling is the wrong approach.  Could you perhaps redefined them to nothing?
12:02 sri default plugins are built in functionality, only reason they are plugins is so they can be used as examples too
12:02 sri if you disable/redefine them, you break mojolicious
12:02 vervain Oh ya... I think messing with them is a way to create pieces.
12:03 bizam if you disable/redefine them, you break mojolicious
12:03 bizam if you disable/redefine them, you break mojolicious
12:03 vervain bizam: So what's the point anyway?  What is it that you are actually trying to achieve/change.
12:04 bizam if you disable/redefine them, you break mojolicious
12:04 bizam if you disable/redefine them, you break mojolicious
12:04 sri please stop that
12:04 bizam sorry, paste
12:05 bizam vervain: i have own renderer
12:05 vervain And?
12:05 nic mojolicious makes good use of lazy instantiation, so you don't need to disable something just cos you're not using it
12:06 sri just because *you* don't use the ep renderer doesn't mean mojolicious won't use it
12:06 bizam nic: its loaded, but i wont use them
12:07 sri built in 404/500 pages would break for example
12:08 bizam sri: i like some subsystems of the mojolicious
12:08 sri then build your own framework based on the components you like
12:10 bizam sri: of course, no problem. I dont think that it is so categorically

17:49 mib_h1mywc hi guys, noob at mojo, does anyone know of a mojo mailing list archive ? - http://groups.google.com/group/mojolicious sucks, it only show a few lines
17:52 marty mib_h1mywc:  A few lines?  I get tons of posts on there.  I don't know of another mailing list but here  are the irc logs.   http://irclog.perlgeek.de/mojo
17:53 yakubori that's all that's on the website, mib_h1mywc (that I can see)
17:53 mib_h1mywc yer, there are 1000 posts, but google only shows 8 lines at most (maybe my font size is too big),
17:54 yakubori it's ajaxy -- scroll to the bottom to load more
17:54 marty if I recall you have to click the subject line or something to expand the thread.
17:54 yakubori and you can search of course
17:54 mib_h1mywc Thanks, those logs will be usful :)
17:55 mib_h1mywc I just don't want to spend the rest of my life scrolling and searching, prefer to spend it learning mojo - whats left of it anyway.
17:59 mib_h1mywc anyone know of a way to suck the messages into mbox format from google groups
18:00 yakubori might be an api or something? you'd have to google how to slurp google :P
18:01 mib_h1mywc Just found an option to "Switch to the old Google Groups.", which looks much more like an actual list - 4k message :)
18:02 mib_h1mywc but, the heading now states "The old Google Groups will be going away soon. Switch to the new Google Groups."
18:03 mib_h1mywc I better get slurping.
18:03 sri it's been like that for over a year
18:03 sri new google groups sucks too much for them to turn off the old one
18:04 mib_h1mywc If I could make them appear in my gmail, I could move them via imap
18:04 dhg joined #mojo
18:07 yakubori if mojolicious plugins have to live in Mojolicious/Plugin/ under the app, does that mean someone who grabs a plugin from cpan has to cp it?
18:08 vervain They don't have to 'live' there
18:09 vervain And I doubt that they need to be under the Mojolicious::Plugin namespace, but I could be wrong.
18:09 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojolicious#plugin
18:09 yakubori ah - ok. the video mentioned having them there
18:11 yakubori oh i think i just misunderstood… it's done in the video but don't think it says you must.
18:12 sri also http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojolicious#plugins
18:14 yakubori cool. thanks
18:16 mib_h1mywc I've just setup mojo and configured the apache proxy and some apps work, but the one entitled "Duct tape for the HTML5 web" only partially works", for example / works, /time works (after I install perl-Time-Piece), but /echo /list:offset /title do not work, I think each have different problems
18:17 sri those are web service apis, not something you open with a browser
18:17 sri if you don't understand them that's ok
18:19 mib_h1mywc but I shuold beable to make a request and see some response?
18:19 mib_h1mywc e,g, /title
18:20 mib_h1mywc that returns me to "Page not found... yet!"
18:20 mib_h1mywc and the debug say
18:20 mib_h1mywc [debug] Template "not_found.development.html.ep" not found.
18:21 sri no
18:21 sri just ignore that example, it's too advanced
18:21 sri jst go through the real documentation
18:21 mib_h1mywc what about the list:offset ?
18:22 sri sorry, i'm not going to help you with an example i told you to ignore
18:22 mib_h1mywc ok, cool
18:22 mib_h1mywc another question
18:22 mib_h1mywc running mojo under perl debugger
18:23 mib_h1mywc what is the correct procedure for that, currently I do perl -d ./app
18:23 mib_h1mywc which works ok, btw
18:25 mib_h1mywc Is there any documentation with regard to bootstrap + mojo ?
18:42 vervain You're mixing your types.  Mojo is your web framework, bootstrap assists you with your front end presentation
18:42 dwery joined #mojo
18:43 basic6 joined #mojo
18:43 mib_h1mywc but they seem like a good (simple) combination
18:45 yakubori is there a way to get morbo to include other lib directories where modules might live, like perl's -I ?
18:48 yakubori set PERL5LIB perhaps?
18:48 dod or 'perl -lxxx -S morbo'
18:51 yakubori PERL5LIB worked, but i'll try that too, dod
18:57 vervain mib_h1mywc: I use Bootstrap in all of my mojo apps. And you're right.  It is simple.
18:58 vervain mib_hlmywc: Just use bootstrap in your app and have fun.
19:06 jberger joined #mojo
19:09 yakubori is it a less that bright idea to create a plugin which is simply a wrapper for another module? or is a good idea in order to reduce duplicate calls to a module?
19:09 yakubori from a controller, for example.
19:10 jberger vervain, mib_h1mywc use a bootstrap cdn and its easy peasy
19:13 vervain I wasn't sure if there was a cdn.  I customize and build my own.
19:14 jberger if I really was to go into production with something, I would look into the stability of the cdn, but for prototyping I use any cdn I can find

21:16 yakubori ah right. thanks.
21:16 jberger yakubori, what are you wrapping?
21:17 jberger just curious
21:17 yakubori nothing that I think I will actually put on CPAN. Just some code for fun and to learn how to properly package modules.
21:18 yakubori it'd be cool to actually have something there, but I'm a ways off I think.
21:19 yakubori I was curious how to shorten a numeric ID, so I wrote a module that did that using Base50 encoding, then to decode it, and then to create random values by string length.
21:20 yakubori and today I was looking at plugins and thought it'd be cool to wrap the module, and try a ::Password version to generate a random password.
