00:31 sri i'm a moron
00:33 Britzel you are? No, you aren't. :)
00:34 sri i messed up the last release :(
00:34 Britzel oops
00:34 Britzel Ok, you are a moron.
00:34 Britzel For a few minutes, at least. :)
00:34 sri :o
00:35 Britzel The good thing is that it can be reverted, going back to being a non-moron.
00:44 marty Unfortunately, my personal steady state is moronic so reverting does me no good.   DOH!!!   :)

01:02 sri not sure about his proposal... perl5 in scala
01:03 tempire I'd be *really* surprised if that goes anywhere.
01:03 tempire But something needs to go somewhere.  So if it makes headway, more power to him
01:04 sri you never know, the jvm is a great target
01:04 sri jruby is pretty much a oneman show, and that implementation rocks

04:20 yakubori sri: is it expected behavior that Mojo::URL doesn't grab the host value unless 'http://' starts the url value passed to new()?
04:21 yakubori if i create one with www.foo.com, i get an undef host and a url value of '/www.foo.com'

18:01 yakubori is there similar functionality in mojo to WWW::Mechanize, where I can grab a list of specific types of elements, such as <img>?
18:02 yakubori should i just get the html body from a response to a request and parse with css selectors?
18:05 sri http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojolicious/Guides/Cookbook#Web_scraping
18:05 vervain That'll work.  SHoudl be super super ooper dooper simple.  my $imgs = $css->select('img'); or some such thingy
18:05 yakubori cool guys. sorry i missed that, sri :P

19:06 tempire oh no!
19:07 tempire no more perl jobs
19:07 tempire time to move to scala
19:07 avay need a help on mojolicious
19:07 sri (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
19:08 avay can anybody please help me
19:08 tempire avay: just ask the question
19:09 avay can u provide me alink to learn how to make mojolicious run on windows
19:10 tempire anyone: are there any known issues for mojolicious on strawberry at the moment?
19:11 avay yeah i had posted one
19:11 tempire avay is getting a "Can't opendir(templates): Invalid argument at C:/Strawberry/perl/site/bin/../lib/Mojo/Home.pm line 66." error, running morbo
19:11 avay asking for your help
19:12 tempire avay, try this from the command line: perl -Mojo -E 'a->start' daemon
19:12 sri tempire: no known issues with recent versions
19:14 avay Can't find string terminator "'" anywhere before EOF at -e line 1.
19:15 tempire windows
19:15 tempire try: perl -Mojo -E "a->start" daemon
19:17 avay server available at 127.0.0.1:3000
19:18 sri what strawberry version anyway?
19:19 avay Strawberry Perl 5.12.3.0
19:19 sri i wouldn't touch anything before 5.14
19:20 sri if you do windows perl use something that is still supported
19:21 avay i had installed it 6-7 months ago
19:21 avay :)
19:21 sri it was already unsupported at that point
19:22 avay i am new to perl so don't know about this stuff
19:22 sri current version 5.16
19:23 sri only one version back is still maintained (so 5.14)
19:23 avay o_O
19:23 sri on linux it's no big deal when you have a somewhat older version, but windows is full of quirks
19:24 avay okkk i'll take care of that !! aye !! captain
19:26 avay sri:  can u share a link to learn Mojolicious for a novice like me.
19:27 tempire avay: 1) watch the mojocasts at http://mojocasts.com
19:27 tempire 2) read the guides at http://mojolicio.us/perldoc in order
19:27 tempire 3) profit!

20:35 berov There will be a Perl workshop here in Sofia, Bulgaria http://2013.perlbulgaria.org/sofia2013/
20:35 berov I was thinking to present Mojolicious there
20:35 tempire do it!
20:35 berov :)
20:38 berov I was wondering what is the most , how to say , different, interesting thing I should emphasis on?

20:40 berov but it is a good start

23:31 denis hi guys, I was reading up on http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojo/Server/Hypnotoad trying to figure out whether Hypnotoad has built in support for dumping any statistics I could use for metrics purposes
23:31 denis I'm guessing this isn't the best time for questions, so I'll be back
23:32 rew left #mojo
23:35 anewkirk it's not
23:35 anewkirk can you be more specific
23:37 mattastrophe joined #mojo
23:39 denis anewkirk: well, any information on active/inactive workers, number of requests handled, stuff that would be meaningful to graph..
23:39 denis anewkirk: I see I can enable   HYPNOTOAD_DEBUG=1 to get info on STDERR
23:40 denis anewkirk: most http-services provide some interface to get status info
23:40 denis well.. most http-services I tend to use :)
23:40 sri hypnotoad is not a normal http server, those metrics can all be collected inside your application
23:41 anewkirk i was just going to say that exact thing
23:41 denis sri: ok, so if I want stats, I'll pester the developer to get some metrics into the App then
23:42 denis sri: I know it's not a normal http-server, just to make that clear, but it wouldn't be very weird if hypno did actually know a little about its runtime env
23:42 sri perhaps we should start calling it an application server :)
23:43 denis I understand hypnos role, I'm just looking to monitor it in some way or another
23:43 sri if something is not absolutely required it won't go into hypnotoad
23:43 sri the code is way too complex to mess around
23:43 denis ok
23:43 sri (complex from a conceptual point of view)
23:44 sri metrics is something that belongs in plugins imo, what we could provide is more hooks for that
23:45 denis coming from a mod_perl then fcgi/wsgi/tomcat background I'm sort of spoilt with having some built in metrics available in my app-server layer
23:45 denis sri: that makes a lot of sense
23:46 sri well, you surely have a reverse proxy you could use for collecting metrics too
23:46 denis I'm not complaining :)
23:46 sri when i think about app server metrics it's more like timing database queries
23:46 denis I'm just exploring hypnotoad, and trying to grasp the best way to do ops-related work with it
23:47 sri heh, devops don't like hypnotoad much, since it's too barebone
23:48 denis what matters the most to me is if it works
23:48 denis if it does, I'll stfu
23:53 denis but thanks for answering my silly questions anyway
23:55 jzawodn joined #mojo
23:56 sri just think of hypnotoad more like a write your own web server toolkit :)
