08:22 marcus good morning
08:30 marcus sri: I was wondering, would it be useful to add a 'default' helper to Mojolicious::Plugin::DefaultHelpers? like % default stashthinge => 'FROB'
08:30 marcus or is there already some way to do this?

12:01 malikai so.. yea, mojo makes for writing awesome little websocket clients in perl
12:02 malikai not that it should be a focus.. but the interface and functionality is very suitable for this task
12:02 mattastrophe joined #mojo
12:02 maxhq joined #mojo
12:04 malikai i just put together a mtgox websocket/json polling market data interface and plugged it into my feed services
12:04 malikai that would have taken a month or more outside of perl, but took less than a week with mojo..

12:57 jberger malikai, its for this reason that I decided to go all-websocket for Galileo
12:57 jberger they're so <bleeping> easy, why do all the other old stuff?!
13:15 bluescreen joined #mojo
13:27 malikai the other stuff is where the real hassle is
13:28 malikai i long for the day that polling dies
13:28 jberger exactly
13:29 jberger btw I think I have a roadmap for nested paths for galileo
13:29 jberger I'm still crafting it a little, but I have a general idea
13:36 malikai galileo looks nice.. i might start playing around a bit with the server side at some point.. so far i've done all that in node for this project

14:53 gtodd when did Mojolicious::Plugin::PODRenderer
14:53 gtodd appear?
14:54 tempire gtodd: forever ago.
14:55 gtodd hmm strange ... must be a local lib thing ... I think I was using 3.60 for ages
14:56 gtodd should there be a    .... Mojolicious::Plugin::PMMDRenderer
14:56 marcus gtodd: no
14:56 gtodd :-)  since I'm trying to render markdown if I get it working I guess it could be a renderer plugin?
14:57 marcus gtodd: Mojolicious::Plugin::MarkdownRenderer ?
14:57 marcus sounds good to me.
14:59 gtodd I've been using Text-MultiMarkdown but not with mojolicious
15:00 gtodd it seems PODRenderer.pm is a good example of a renderer plugin so ... thanks for that :)
15:02 nicomen how about a wikimedia renderer?
15:11 gtodd tempire: was asking yesterday about your deploy "sub command" heroku ... and if other deploy sub commands (ssh/scp etc) would be useful but it seemed that "deploy to <some cloud>" was more acceptable.
15:11 gtodd than deployment  that should be handled by site specific processes and tools .... ITIL was mentioned :-)

16:11 Akron How common are C modules in the ruby world? I love being able to scan CPAN for used modules with -XS or -GMP attachements, making my code blazingly fast without any changes. ;)
16:12 sri very common, since pure-ruby is usually too slow
16:13 sri you won't find a pure-ruby event loop, http/html parsers and the like
16:14 Akron PureRuby webframeworks. :) That's interesting.
16:15 sri pure-python is more common
16:19 Akron My perception regarding python was always, that binding C is much easier with it than with Perl. I pretty much hate writing XS.
16:20 sri of course, they have ctypes in core
16:21 Akron Yes. A good thing.
16:22 sri can't happen in perl5 sadly, since p5p is mostly C programmers that like their shitty XS
16:23 sri nobody who can do it cares, and nobody who cares can do it :S
16:25 Akron Maybe at least they should care about documentation ... or give me an idea why the hell XS is a good thing.
16:26 sri it usually goes like "but xs is much more powerful, you can extend perl itself too, so there is no point adding ctypes/ffi!"
16:27 bluescreen_ joined #mojo
16:28 Akron XS is only powerful for me if I am able to understand it.

16:34 Akron bingos: I onliy knew FFI-Raw, didn't know the ctypes-thing.
16:34 sri if only to make new perl implementations easier
16:34 sri (or porting to perl6)

19:39 Akron Is there a way to define a static data section file and give it a name, like "@@ favicon.ico (base64) favicon" or similar? So I can use url_for with it?
