06:56 marcus sri: hai? I'm re-reading the mojo source code, and while looking at base I was wondering about "$file =~ s/::|'/\//g;" in import - Seems we do it more often than strictly neccesary?

08:21 opticnerpe Hello. I am just starting to learn about designing web interfaces with Mojolicious and know some very basic HTML and Perl. I have a question that isn't specific to mojolicious but I'm sure you guys could point me in the right direction. I want my web server to query a database based on a user selecting something from a drop-down list box (but without having to click a Submit button, but just by selecting it from a drop-down list box). Would I need
08:21 opticnerpe to use Javascript in order it to take action like that? Or can this be done with just HTML. I want to avoid Javascript if possible. What would be some good approaches for this?
08:22 Britzel You need JS. Check the jQuery library, which is a great help in doing stuff like this.
08:22 Britzel There are other, similiar libraries, jQuery just happens to be one of the better kniwn ones.

08:22 opticnerpe Britzel, thank you! I'll check it out

09:24 sri marcus: i suppose that's what you meant
09:25 sri doesn't gain us much though, since it only runs during compile time :/
09:25 sri anyway
09:25 sri marcus++ # rereading code
09:28 sri or actually, doesn't gain us anything since Mojo::Base is never used without a flag ;p
09:44 nic s#::|'#/#g would be easier to grok IMO
09:45 sri disagree
09:45 nic s,::|',/,g would be easier to grok IMO
09:45 nic :)
09:46 nic The ! is a poor combination with ' and :
09:47 sri perhaps you need a better coding font
09:48 nic are you saying that to github?
09:48 sri # is a poor choice because it's broken in syntax highlighting all the time
09:49 nic how about s{::|'}{/}g ?
09:57 sri hard to type, very commonly used in a regex
09:57 sri i use ! regularly as a fallback for /

14:54 jberger I now have a windows box behind a big proxy mess, what I don't have is Perl (directly, I do have it in a VM RHEL)
14:55 jberger and I might notice a new mango today, I'm going to be working on my buddy's site which has a mango backend
14:55 jberger then again, it is only doing simple stuff
14:58 sri proxy mess is usually not so bad if you can get out through an https proxy
14:59 * sri usually tunnels ssh through an https proxy to an outside box to get irc
15:02 * sri wishes the mango i/o internals looked a little more pretty

16:03 * jberger ponders a module named 'ango' :-)
16:07 sri WOOT!
16:08 sri travis test with a real database now work for mango
16:08 sri https://travis-ci.org/kraih/mango/jobs/8798209
16:08 sri https://travis-ci.org/kraih/mango
16:11 sri it's as easy as this to set up btw. https://github.com/kraih/mango/commit/608b95dd52838e9bf4082d65dd292ad678b4b649
16:11 jberger wow
16:11 * jberger looks
16:12 jberger is that saying that travis has Mongo instances laying around for testing?? thats really cool if it is
16:12 sri not just mongo http://about.travis-ci.org/docs/user/database-setup/
16:13 sri mongo just happens to be trivial to set up... not requiring any schema stuff and all
16:13 jberger that is very cool
16:15 jberger I was talking with preaction about making an Alien::mongod
16:15 jberger Galileo's stated goal is to be fully installable from CPAN, but I'm kinda getting into the nosql thing
16:16 sri well, hosted mongodb is trivial to use
16:16 jberger that's true too
16:16 sri i still run my unit tests here against mongohq :)
16:16 jberger you were saying mongohq etc
16:16 jberger right
16:16 sri the free services define what feature mango will get
16:17 sri *+s
16:17 jberger haha, understood
16:17 jberger still, an Alien::mongod might not be very difficult
16:17 jberger mongod is a single executable
16:20 * sri wonders what the default max_connections value for mango should be

19:41 tempire perlr now supports infinite scrolling
19:41 tempire woo
19:42 tempire and none of that modifying the scroll when you get to the bottom nonsense like facebook
19:42 tempire but a real scrollable that lets you scroll to the bottom immediately.
19:43 phillipadsmith tempire: link? Trying to do something similar...
19:43 tempire perlr.com
19:44 phillipadsmith tempire: don't think I'm seeing the infinite scroll (unless you mean that you have to scroll for a long, long time because there are so many entries on page load?"
19:45 tempire view source
19:45 tempire there's only 12 entries rendered at any time
19:45 tempire well, 10-13
19:46 phillipadsmith holy JS libraries batman

22:43 punter Why do I get a "Page not found" error when I curl to this server with no X-SID header? http://paste.scsys.co.uk/260301?tidy=on&hl=on&submit=Format+it!
22:44 punter When there IS an X-SID header, I don't get a page-not-found error, I get some output (not the expected one, but some output nevertheless)
22:45 punter Is "Page Not Found" something like a catch-all error message?
22:45 punter no, can't be
22:45 punter What's the logic behind displaying "page not found" to me?
22:47 punter ok, the output (when there IS an X-SID header) is expected
22:47 punter but not when the header's missing
22:52 punter ok, text => Dumper() also returns Page not found (I'm getting closer)
22:58 punter so does $self->render('text')
22:58 punter I guess that's ok
23:02 punter Solution is to evaluate ...header('X-SID') in scalar context.
