05:52 ribasushi is there some sort of free (or free trial) service where one can easily spin up a plack app?
06:25 bpmedley ribasushi: Does the IP have to be publically accessible?
06:26 ribasushi hm...?
06:26 ribasushi it needs to be public facing, whether it is on a dedicated ip is not relevant
06:27 bpmedley What OS do you use?
06:28 ribasushi bpmedley: how is this relevant?
06:28 bpmedley If you use Linux, then can you just that?  Or, if not, VirtualBox?
06:28 ribasushi let me rephrase - I want to put up a *temporary* webapp, accessible on the wider internet, preferably without paying much of anything
06:29 ribasushi what OS I use is neither here or there ;)
06:29 bpmedley I think liquidweb has a $100 coupon

07:09 preaction can't heroku do that?
07:10 ribasushi preaction: I have no idea, this is why I am asking ;)

07:12 ribasushi and yes, this seems like exactly what I was after

15:44 jabberwok Am writing a Mojo 'app' to be deployed to a number of clients, on same machine or several, same program to be run with different config (db connections, static file root, etc.) -- on 2014-11-13, irq asked: "to have something like `myapp  daemon -l http://*:* --configfile=testconfig.yml`. So I need to get the --configfile back somewhere and setup my app per settings found there." -- is there a best practices answer for this? sear
15:48 absolut_todd joined #mojo
16:02 jberger jabberwok: you can use mode specific configuration
16:02 jberger http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojolicious/Plugin/Config#DESCRIPTION
16:17 coolo jabberwok: we just use env variables for this.
16:26 jberger mode is essentially an env var too
16:26 jberger in order to work properly in hypnotoad, env vars are basically all you've got

19:03 ajr_ Using "mojo generate app Greeter" in a directory "myhtml" has created a directory structure based at "greeter". What should be the morbo command line to run the app?
19:04 absolut_todd joined #mojo
19:10 Zoffix ajr_, cd greeter; morbo script/greeter
19:22 Zoffix Hm. Is there a way to find out the names of all the query params you received?
19:24 preaction params without arguments
19:24 preaction $c->req->params iirc
19:25 Zoffix $c->req->params->names
19:25 Zoffix Thanks, preaction++
19:25 preaction maybe it's just my @names = $c->params then?
19:25 Zoffix "No such method"
19:26 preaction sorry, param()
19:26 Zoffix Just returns undef
19:26 ajr_ Thanks, Zoffix. I'm actually trying to run locally on port 3000, but morbo -l 'http://*.3000' script/greeter produces Can't create listen socket: Name or service not known at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.18.1/Mojo/IOLoop.pm line 129.
19:26 preaction wait. does that not do the names anymore? or when did it do that? what the hell?
19:26 ajr_ What am I doing wrong?
19:26 Zoffix http://*:3000
19:27 Zoffix a colon, not a dot
19:27 ajr_ D'oh, thanks.

23:35 _dave_ so "use Mojo::base -strict;" doesn't provide a class with a "new()" constructor?
23:38 preaction no, use Mojo::Base 'Mojo' i think is how you get that
23:38 Grinnz use Mojo::Base -base
23:39 _dave_ ok :)
23:40 jberger preaction: that was a consistency thing changed at or around 6.0
23:40 preaction what was? not doing what i said? or doing what i said?
23:42 _dave_ I was thinking "gee it will always give me a new() no matter what and if I need my own new() in a subclass I can just override the method"
23:43 dotan joined #mojo
23:43 _dave_ and -base vs -strict is a way to tell it not to provide a new() ... that's pretty clean
23:45 jberger preaction: sorry, no the change in param
23:45 jberger I guess that was hours ago
23:45 preaction ah
23:46 preaction well, i got some code at work to change then
