00:09 lluad I don't suppose there's a Mojo::Server::SMTP anywhere? I'm getting spoiled by Mojo:: modules being nicer to use than anything else on CPAN.
00:10 Grinnz just client, as far as i know...
00:10 Grinnz SMTP servers are pretty complex :/
00:11 lluad Yeah. I've written a few, but none in perl. :)
00:11 lluad Maybe it's time ...
00:12 bpmedley lluad: May I ask why you want a perl smtp server rather than something like exim?
00:13 lluad QA framework. My "real" code is sending email and I want to capture it in something lightweight.
00:13 lluad Though I've also got several qpsmtpd instances in production - they're *way* more flexible than a generic mailserver when you want to do "stunt" mailservers, which do useful work during the SMTP transaction.

05:32 calatalee Hello, I am planning to use Mojo for my next project and want to get some feedback here. Does Mojo work well with Window OS ?
05:32 preaction it's pure Perl, so yes
05:34 calatalee Anyone experience with this patch? I can't fix it on my VM windowOS
05:34 preaction what patch?
05:34 purl Patches welcome!
05:35 calatalee http://mojolicio.us/perldoc/Mojolicious/Guides/FAQ#What-does-the-error-EV-does-not-work-with-ithreads-mean
05:35 mst that's an environment variable
05:35 mst you can set it in cmd.exe
05:36 mst or you can stick 'BEGIN { $ENV{...} = ...}' at the top of your script
05:36 mst or you could uninstall EV and then it won't try and use it
05:36 mst no patch involved
05:36 calatalee ok, I will ask my guy to come here and ask for assistance. He spent quite some time on this topic. Thanks
05:37 mst buy him a book on basic windows command line usage then
05:37 mst I live almost entirely on *n?x systems and I know it has environment variables :)
05:40 calatalee He is a very experience Mojo guy only works on linux. We want to port to window and he run into this problem.
05:41 mst well then he should be able to use a BEGIN block or an uninstall; those are fairly basic perl skills
05:41 mst "delete EV.pm" should not be hard for somebody experienced :)
05:42 calatalee Thank you guys! We will be back. take care!

20:15 tempire bpmedley: I'm waiting for them to support android
20:15 tempire Turns out swift is nicer than javascript
20:15 bpmedley I see.  Hopefully that will be soon.
20:16 woz joined #mojo
20:16 tempire I hear it's all the rage among the kids, though.
20:16 Adura joined #mojo
20:16 tempire Anything designed around react has my support
20:17 bpmedley Cool.  I wasn't really aware of it until today..
20:17 mst react is beautiful in theory, but I'm not yet convinced that in practice it'll be significantly better than angular
20:17 tempire madness
20:19 tempire bpmedley: If I hadn't already invested a lot of time in native ios dev, I'd be using it.
20:19 bpmedley I see.  Do you do you own widgets/controls, use just native, or do you have a library?
20:20 tempire native
20:20 tempire objc/swift
20:20 bpmedley What apps have you done?
20:20 tempire Though I can't speak from experience. The promise of javascript -> native is always great, but it's always turned out to be bobo in the past.
20:20 mst I can see react native nailing straight obj-c/swift over the JS based things
20:20 tempire I hope so.
20:21 tempire I hope it works and apple goes that route
20:21 tempire Facebook has native "react components" which is the same sort of design
20:21 tempire but it's objc++ based, so no swift bridding
20:21 tempire bpmedley: internal enterprise stuff
20:22 tempire I have one personal app store app
20:22 bpmedley May I see?
20:22 tempire http://westcoastpoints.com/
20:22 mst yeah, thing is, I've always been fond of having UI data separate from the model itself, so the two-way binding of angular on the front suits me; a react store like thing as the next layer back would be lovely though
20:22 bpmedley Nice.. I forget sometimes that you're a dancing fiend.. :)
20:22 tempire I've decided that flux probably isn't the right way
20:22 tempire I think RX is better
20:23 mst I kinda liked Om
20:23 mst react feels almost lisp-native to me
20:23 tempire Not familiar with om
20:23 tempire https://github.com/omcljs/om?
20:23 mst which is why I'm not convinced it'll entirely make me happy, because javascript is a pretty terrible lisp
20:23 mst right
20:25 marcus glen: What's the total market like for westcoastpoint? How many potential buyers?
20:26 tempire not enough to make it financially viable
20:26 marcus :-/
20:26 mst nothing wrong with a combined hobby + portfolio entry
20:26 tempire That was the idea. It got my an enterprise app contract.
20:27 tempire s/my/me/
20:27 tempire 12k potential buyers; maybe 4k active real potentials.
20:28 tempire One day I'll have an idea for an app that will make a gigawatt of money
20:28 marcus we're trying to watch 50 shades tonight, out of lack of other options.
20:28 tempire maybe tomorrow
20:28 purl maybe tomorrow is a better day for some more enlightenment...
20:28 marcus What a boring movie!
20:28 tempire I've been watching wwdc talks.
20:28 tempire They're exciting.
20:29 marcus Don't think I can sell my wife on those.
20:29 marcus `D
20:29 marcus even as an alternative to this POS
20:29 sri_ maybe try one of the new syfy space operas
20:30 tempire I was watching the originals for a while
20:30 mst bah. if you want 'dom face', cumberbatch's khan did a better bloody job
20:30 tempire It became too dramatic
20:30 * mst might have a bit of a grudge against what turned out to be 50 shades of eternal september for a lot of kink scenes ;)
20:31 tempire I'm starting on sensa8
20:31 tempire 1st episode is decent neough
20:31 tempire *enough
20:33 marcusr mst: I kinda liked 'Secretary'.
20:33 mst marcusr: I hear good things about it
20:34 tempire oh!
20:34 tempire speaking of spader
20:34 tempire blacklist
20:34 purl blacklist is bl.spamcop.net
20:34 tempire IS FANTASTIC
20:35 marcus hmm, maybe I should give it another shot. We only got through the first couple of episodes.
20:35 * jberger liked Secretary too
20:35 tempire You have to wait until spader really gets going.
20:35 tempire He is the show
20:36 dexteruk Oh Sense8 is amazing
20:36 dexteruk a real mind twister at first
20:36 dexteruk but after the 4 episode i all makes a lot of sense
20:37 jberger But if you just want to get the wife in the mood, 9 Songs
20:37 marcusr I think she's about to crash and go to bed by now.
20:38 jberger (Yeah it doesn't work for me either)
20:46 * sri_ didn't like sense8
20:47 sri_ it looks great, but the story is too weak
20:47 tempire no spoilers!
20:47 purl There are snakes on the plane
20:47 sri_ i guess that's the beauty of sense8, you can't really spoil it ;p
20:48 sri_ botsnack!
20:48 purl thanks sri_ :)
20:49 * sri_ needs to watch killjoys, people keep comparing it to firefly :o
20:49 tempire that's a hefty claim
20:49 tempire netflix/hulu/prime?
20:49 sri_ syfy!
20:50 tempire ah, you mean torrent
20:50 * tempire doesn't have cable service
20:50 tempire oh I guess I could use itunes
20:50 marcusr guess that puts you mostly in the same position as us europeans.
20:51 sri_ well, he can at least watch trailers -.-
20:51 marcusr sri: I hear german youtube is hell.
20:51 sri_ can confirm
20:58 jberger That's worth two botsnack
20:58 purl :)
20:58 tempire nested helpers are so great
20:58 mst a frankfurt YAPC::EU stream got cut for an hour because mdk played 30 seconds of some sort of music during a talk
20:59 tempire I read somewhere that you can submit to youtube that you are the rights holder, and most of the time, it will just be accepted.
21:14 bin_005 joined #mojo
21:14 sri_ mst: entire YAPC::NA stream was unavailable in germany
21:15 mst sri_: ... joy
21:15 sri_ someone played music in between talks or so, and the stream was gone
21:15 sri_ at least that's what i heard
21:15 mst this is the point at which you SOCKS proxy through a machine in a different country
21:16 mst 's what I do to get iplayer while away from home
21:16 jberger Don't worry, my video is unwatchable anywhere :'(
21:16 mst yes, well, given the bus error they did pretty bloody well
21:16 jberger I'll try to record the talk at Chicago.pm and post it
21:16 sri_ the Hola browser extension used to be pretty popular to bypass geo restrictions
21:16 mst the on-site recordings may still be ok
21:17 mst the stream was a separate thing
21:17 sri_ but of course Hola turned into a botnet
21:17 jberger mst: given what they have of mine, I'd be surprised
21:17 woz joined #mojo
21:17 mst jberger: oh?
21:17 mst did yours go extra special wrong?
21:18 jberger Starts part way in and is only pointed at me so you can't see the slides
21:18 mst yeah, I'll be muttering things about TWO CAMERAS next year
21:18 jberger Unless they are going to merge in the monitor feed
21:18 sri_ are the encoding errors fixed now?
21:18 mst come and give it at LPW, we usually have two
21:19 Phil21 jberger: you're near Chicago?
21:20 preaction jberger: you're volunteering for july's talk? ;)
21:21 jberger https://youtu.be/CKbzBNz4Ksg
21:21 jberger Yes and sure
21:21 preaction awesome. i've been waiting for that one ;)
21:22 Phil21 cool, I work in the city - been thinking about coming to one of these meetups
21:22 jberger It was only a short talk so I will end with perl5pigs as all perl conferences now should
21:23 preaction Phil21: we hang out in #chicago.pm
21:23 mst *snrk*
21:23 jberger Phil21: join #chicago.pm
21:23 jberger Oh preaction beat me
21:23 Phil21 will do :)
21:23 mst I keep forgetting that YAPC::NA LTs now ideally need submitting before the conference
21:23 preaction you said the magic phrase to summon me from my editor: "i'll give a talk" ;)
21:23 mst (or at least, not the day of the LT slot)
21:24 jberger preaction: hahaha
21:24 jberger I also need to make an alien talk
21:24 mst community organisers can detect a potential speaker via sixth sense
21:25 jberger I'd love to come to lpw, I just need to find away to afford it
