07:42 nicomen I see mojo has some t/mojo/ioloop_tls.t tests -- any tips in how to use that to support a simple https scheme for development instead of using external ssl wrappers?

14:02 CandyAngel (general Perl question) Is there any general preference for Perl-only modules (e.g. Module::Build)?
14:03 Grinnz no idea what you're asking
14:03 genio how to create a dist and make it available on the CPAN?
14:04 CandyAngel I know there are a bunch of "template" modules for starting Perl modules like Module::Build, h2xs, Ext.. Util.. something
14:05 jberger CandyAngel: I prefer Module::Build but it seems that most of #toolchain prefers EUMM
14:05 Grinnz h2xs is a dist template, the others are installers
14:05 jberger don't use h2xs
14:05 CandyAngel That's why I'm asking, I don't want to use h2xs :P
14:05 jberger EUMM = ExtUtils::MakeMaker
14:05 Grinnz gogo Dist::Zilla
14:05 * jberger hurls
14:07 Grinnz (Dist::Milla for a simpler starting point)
14:08 Grinnz Dist::Zilla and other similar author-only tools are recommended because they make your life simpler as an author, without imposing additional dependencies to install the dist
14:09 Grinnz there are a few other authoring tools as well
14:09 genio or, if you want to go the painful route and do way too much work, you can just copy-pasta a working dist (Mojolicious, for instance) get rid of the tests and other directories you don't need, update the manifest, clear out the Changes, fix the Makefile, etc. etc. etc.
14:10 CandyAngel I'm just looking for something that will help me with making a CPANable module as I've not done it before
14:10 CandyAngel genio: Sounds great, immadothat
14:10 Grinnz i started with Dist::Zilla and never looked back, it's super simple and makes sure i never screw up
14:10 CandyAngel Grinnz: Never underestimate my ability to screw things up
14:11 genio heh, then don't go the way I said.  You'll surely miss things
14:12 jberger as a scientist, I might add, sometimes its best to do it "manually", even if you do it wrong, because you learn what dzil is doing for you in the background
14:12 CandyAngel Yeah, true
14:13 jberger then if you get tired of doing it manually, the effort of setting up dzil might feel worth it

17:21 Grinnz_ heh
17:22 Grinnz_ i dont remember that being tiny
17:23 Dave tap { font: 0.5 em ... }
17:23 Dave er .tap

23:00 Grinnz_ paid beta? eww
23:01 bpmedley Certainly multiple opinions on that front; however, I wanted my Protoss fix.. :)
23:01 Grinnz_ yeah, they can definitely get away with it for this; this is probably the most anticipating thing from blizzard since starcraft 2 itself
23:02 Grinnz_ anticipated*
23:02 Grinnz_ if it's good, i'll pick it up and run through the campaign, i never got the zerg expansion so i might have to do that too lol
