07:43 batman Zoffix: yeah. i've gone back and forth on the newline thing. i will add it to the main process method
07:48 batman Zoffix: i don't want commits like that without a test!
07:52 batman the reason for "!" is that i've messed up so many times myself on that exact change :(
07:52 * batman fix

09:50 batman nicomen, bobkare, Grinnz, chansen, mishanti1: DBIx::TempDB no longer require Mojo, so you won't be notified by cpan_mojo when a new released is made. https://metacpan.org/pod/DBIx::TempDB
09:51 batman also, i've written a blog post about it: https://github.com/jhthorsen/jhthorsen.github.com/blob/temp-database/perl/_posts/2015-09-18-temp-database.markdown i would very much appreciate if *anyone* would proof read it for me
09:51 batman marcus: ^ ? :)
10:00 preaction batman: the "Running tests inside a transation" section starts off strangely
10:00 preaction you say "Just don't do that", but why?
10:01 batman preaction: yeah... i'll try to rephrase. give me a couple of minutes
10:03 preaction https://github.com/preaction/Dynamocles/blob/master/lib/Dynamocles/Test/Db.pm <- I created something like Test::mysqld for Postgres/Mojo::Pg, but it suffers from the same startup performance problem.
10:08 batman preaction: i pushed the changes. better now..?
10:08 batman the changes = a new version of the transaction chapter
10:11 preaction yes, that makes more sense. to add to some of the spelling/grammar fixes i submitted: "Many databases (such as MySQL) do" not does, "if your code uses Mojo::Pg" not use, "or another module which uses"
10:12 bpmedley batman: I wonder if the initial sentence could be something like: This blog post is about writing tests against a short-lived database that is created and deleted on-the-fly using DBIx::TempDB.  <-- Would it be better to start detailing the temporary nature of the database earlier in the blog post?
10:13 preaction your four uses of the word "again" don't seem to be needed, you can just remove "again" and it makes sense
10:13 batman preaction: oh! didn't expect a PR :) i will copy/paste your changes. thank you.
10:14 preaction i figured it'd be the easiest way to see what the changes were, since they're so small
10:16 batman bpmedley: changing it now.
10:16 batman i also wonder if i use "I" too much. i think it's fine, because this post is opinionated, but i wonder if it makes it less trustworthy
10:19 bpmedley batman: I've been told to limit "I" in almost all written prose.
10:19 preaction formal writing, sure
10:21 preaction you could rewrite a couple sentences to easily remove "I" and still get the meaning across: Could change "A shared database server is what I ended up with." to be something like "The only option left is...", and "I hope this makes perfect sense" can just be removed, which makes the sentence more direct
10:21 batman i will see if i can clean that up.
10:22 preaction "This is an area I have very little knowledge and experience in." <- doesn't seem necessary really, or relevant to the point, and that's another "I" gone
10:23 preaction all the others seem about right

10:46 batman i rewrote the introduction part now and removed "I" in most cases.
10:50 bpmedley batman++
10:50 batman i hope the introduction at least didn't get worse ;)
10:54 bpmedley I believe the introduction is better.
11:06 batman \o/ and it's live :)

13:07 batman got any synonyms for "delete" ? i want to delete a connection from a user and a need a method name: delete(), remove(), del(), ..?
13:10 sri delete can be a method
13:10 sri but you close or remove connections
13:10 pink_mist you already gave 3 options on your own, why are they insufficient?
13:10 pink_mist exterminate()
13:11 bpmedley batman: oismekn
13:11 pink_mist erase()
13:11 batman pink_mist: i wanted sri's answer :)
13:12 batman thanks

13:18 batman hm... when i think about it: this method should probably be from the user object.

17:50 stephan48 batman: with monthly logs you will be on a good base.. maybe make some check and recommend smaller intervalls to the user when the logs get bigger
17:50 batman if you have bigger logs, then you probably want to switch backend :)
