00:23 jberger ok so about to go out with the wife
00:23 jberger but this is what I came up with
00:23 jberger https://github.com/jberger/Mojolicious-Plugin-Multiplex/blob/master/lib/Mojolicious/Plugin/Multiplex.pm
00:23 jberger and an example extending the usual chat example (but using vue js) to multiple chat panes
00:23 jberger it is really ugly but functional

15:10 sri as much as i was upset about the 3rd party apple service, this macbook is still amazing
15:18 sri dell seems to be the only other laptop vendor that actually tries
15:33 mattp sri: ive been on a chromebook predominantly for the past year or so
15:33 mattp at the $300 pricepoint it really is fantastic atleast for what I use it for
15:33 bpmedley mattp: Can you develop web apps on it?
15:34 sri chromebooks seem silly to me, i need storage
15:34 mattp bpmedley: yes, with crouton (essentially you can run full ubuntu/debian)
15:44 bpmedley cool

18:36 sri oh my, just as i say nice things about dell i see horror stories about their customer service
18:36 sri i guess all pc makers suck
18:37 eseyman all pc makers are willing to sacrifice their mothers in order to make an extra 0.25$
18:37 eseyman I'll let you figure out how much they care about CS

19:03 jberger I've been amazed while working at a hosting company how much server stuff sucks too
19:04 sri at least you're not fighting with customer service
19:05 coolo it's a different service, but you're still fighting with it :)
19:06 mishanti1 The two providers of server-grade HW I've been most pleased with are Dell and HP. Yes, they are a bit expensive, but boy do they get you replacement-hardware quick.
19:06 jberger We pay extra for embedded controllers etc and then we just constantly have to make up for flaws in their firmware
19:07 mishanti1 Oh dear, I've never had anything that  fancy.
19:07 mishanti1 Hefty premium to get them to do that?
19:07 jberger IIUC their service is pretty good. RMAs etc
19:08 jberger Yeah i don't know what the cost is but it's enough that it is an addon feature and not just included
19:11 mishanti1 I'm really drooling at 45Drives products. Seen "The Storinator"? http://www.45drives.com/products/
19:11 mishanti1 They have made some _really_ solid design-choices in their chassis.
19:15 jberger Doesn't look like you can hot swap those though right?
19:17 mishanti1 jberger: AFAIK they are hot-swappable
19:17 mishanti1 At least they claim they are in their FAQ, and on the product details pages.
19:18 sri lol
19:18 sri non-hot-swappable would be a nightmare
19:19 mishanti1 Hehe, it is simply a must-have.
19:19 mishanti1 Unless it is for a home-setup with 1 user.
19:19 mishanti1 And even then it is annoying to have something non-hotswappable.
19:38 jberger But if that is in a rack how would you get to a top load hd?

19:43 sri imagine it opens like a drawer
19:43 anparker keep some space above it empty :)
19:47 jberger anparker: ha
19:48 * sri has only ever worked with racks full of these http://www.backupworks.com/productimages/IomegaNAS/ix12_300l.jpg
19:50 anparker I wonder home much it weights and what kind of rails you need, so you can pull it as a drawer
19:53 jberger sri: That's what I've seen too
19:54 jberger anparker: We wouldn't have enough slack in the cabling for that
19:55 jberger Our racks are VERY tidy
20:10 punter joined #mojo
20:15 mishanti1 jberger: I'm used to what I can only describe as 'arms' behind the units in the racks, in which cables for each unit is organized.
20:15 mishanti1 That way you can pull the unit out fully and do whatever maintenance you need to do, without worrying that cables might pop out.
