08:43 sri so frustrating, i want to send out 1000 mojolicious stickers, but we have nobody who can hit multiple perl/open source conferences to distribute them
08:45 suede sri: i bet you could work out a deal with postmates to do it for you
08:45 suede (depending on where those conferences are)
08:45 suede could be good PR for them, so maybe will be cheap?
08:46 sri i don't know postmates
08:46 suede https://postmates.com/
08:46 sri also, i'm in europe
08:46 suede oh, lol
08:48 sri marcus is going to oscon eu, and i wanted to send the stickers to him, but they wouldn't arrive in time :(

11:47 mishanti2 I continue to be amazed by the pr request timings of mojo when scaling up qps. Coming from apache I am _not_ used to seeing such consistent numbers.

14:05 zivester joined #mojo
14:08 suede jamesaxl: American
14:08 purl American is not cheese.  It's pasteurized process American cheese-style food-like crap
14:09 suede But- Currently living in Estonia :)
14:09 suede purl, please
14:09 purl i don't know, suede
14:10 jamesaxl suede, /how is Estonia? is it a good place?
14:11 suede jamesaxl, I'm in Tallinn, I haven't gotten the chance to travel around the country yet- But the city is very clean, the food is good, and the people are very friendly here
14:12 suede Old Town is a blast to visit if you ever come here- I'm not really into the nightlife but supposedly it's very impressive as well there
14:13 suede There aren't really many concerts, the music scene as I know it is based around certain artists being booked at clubs and bars and such
14:13 jamesaxl suede, yes I see it now on the net it is a beautiful place
14:13 suede Yes, it is. The countryside (as far as I've seen it) is even more beautiful- although very flat.
14:14 suede jamesaxl, where are you from?
14:14 jamesaxl suede, Morocco, but I am in russia now next to caspian sea
14:15 suede How are you liking Russia?
14:15 suede I had only one stop there at the Moscow airport on my flight over- I didn't stay long.
14:17 jamesaxl suede, there are many good place, and many culture, they are russian, Kavkaz, Tatar, Kalmiki
14:20 jamesaxl suede, I thought I met one American here, just from his english I thought he is American but I do not know.
14:24 suede jamesaxl: You can usually tell by the accent which English-speaking country someone is from
14:24 suede Lots of people here can tell that I'm American, haha
14:26 jamesaxl suede, have you had visa transit in Russia?
14:26 suede jamesaxl: No, I'm not particularly interested in visiting Russia at the moment. I'm uh- marrying a girl here in EE quite soon :)

18:15 sri naah, there just isn't much to tell yet... most of the first week was spent with administrative stuff... setting up accounts and stuff

18:20 sri i do like suse though, everybody in the whole company being excited about open source is really cool
18:25 mattp_ sri: youre working at suse?
18:25 sri ye
18:25 mattp_ cool. I was just reading about their partnership with saltstack
18:32 mattp_ sri: are you doing perl there?
18:32 sri yes
18:33 sri suse has pretty big perl projects
18:34 sri https://openqa.opensuse.org
18:34 sri that one is much bigger than it looks at first

18:45 Nemix I am looking for an irc client.   I primarily need to send a msg to users.   Mojo::IRC and Mojo::IRC:UA don't seem to have methods to do that.  Is the approach to use involve AnyEvent::IRC::Client or something similar?   Did I miss a client that will do what I want?
18:48 Grinnz Nemix: $irc->write(privmsg => $channel_or_nick, ":$msg");
18:49 Grinnz Nemix: Mojo::IRC perhaps doesn't have all the convenience methods that some other clients have yet, but ->write will send any arbitrary message
18:49 Nemix oh...thanks...that works for me...missed that.

18:57 Grinnz Nemix: i find https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_Relay_Chat_commands helpful as a reference of what i can send with ->write
19:01 Nemix that is that is perfect.   I have bots using POE and this is first one from Mojolicious.
19:02 Nemix s/that is //
19:02 purl Hmm.  No matches for that, Nemix.
19:02 Grinnz yeah, I used the POE module before and it has lots of convenience methods.
19:02 Grinnz but in the end, the raw syntax isn't that different
19:02 sri Mojo::IRC deserves convenience methods!
19:03 Grinnz :)
19:12 sri so, how disappointed are we all with that new google pixel phone?
19:12 Grinnz it doesn't have a 4.3" or 4.5" model so i'm neither disappointed nor appointed :P
19:13 sri that thing costs 759 euros
19:13 Grinnz yow
19:13 purl Hello, GORRY-O!!  I'm a GENIUS from HARVARD!!
19:14 Grinnz lol what
19:14 purl it has been said that lol is Swahili for "I am an empty-headed fool. Please disregard me" or a Perl 6 type that means List of List
19:14 bpmedley I'm not disappointed, I simply do not desire an upgrade right now (for iPhone or a google phone).  If
19:14 bpmedley I'm not sure how I would feel if I needed a new phone..
19:15 Nemix I happen to have unlimited data on Verizon...give me a phone not completely locked down and I will be happy.   I seem to always purchase the ones that give me no flexibility
19:15 Nemix and pay full price to boot
19:15 bpmedley Nemix : What phone do you have?
19:15 Nemix Samsung Galaxy S6
19:16 Nemix runs my mojo apps great :)
19:17 sri my first though when someone says samsung is now always "how can i turn this into a joke about exploding phones"
19:17 Nemix that too
19:17 sri they'll never shake that image
19:18 sri guess they could if phones from another manufacturer started exploding too
19:19 Grinnz it's honestly surprising it's not more common with how volatile lithium ion batteries are
19:19 bpmedley Small tactile phone ammunition.. ;)
19:19 Nemix I think that same thing in cars where you are on a bed of them

20:02 Nemix I keep telling myself that if I increased my grasp of perl I might be able to escape hack status but that has been going on for years.   I may be relagated to current state at this point.  At least I enjoy it.
20:03 mishanti2 sri: The fire-dept here actually went out on TV and told people "Yes, phones catch fire. And it's your own fault for using non-original chargers".
20:04 mishanti2 (which it is)
