01:12 karjala Do the people in this room believe that when async/await is implemented for Perl, it's going to be better than programming with IOLoop::Delay?
01:12 karjala Is it something you're waiting for?
01:13 karjala Or is async/await only for people of lesser intelligence?

01:24 genio it is indeed something people are waiting for. no, it's not for people of lesser intelligence
01:24 genio better than delays? meh, we'll see

12:35 karjala Happy new year!
12:36 sri btw. it's pointless to speculate about async/await, it's not going to get addecd to perl any time toon
12:36 sri s/toon/soon/
12:37 sri nobody is actively working on it

13:19 sri not to mention that async/await require the apis they are wrapping to be promise based, so, realisitically, it's never going to work for perl
14:00 sri every now and then i wonder why we don't have an object to take care of all the file system interactions
14:01 sri all the File::Temp, File::Spec, File::Basename, Cwd... stuff

15:16 cpan_mojo Mojo-Pg-2.33 by SRI https://metacpan.org/release/SRI/Mojo-Pg-2.33
15:19 sri jberger: now i'm a little concerned about with_temp_schema.... because you also missed a lot of bugs
15:20 sri a temp_schema attribute would have never actually worked
15:20 sri it's just stupid
15:28 sri oh, hey, this is great, Mojo::Pg is totally broken now :)
15:28 * sri blames the lack of reviews https://travis-ci.org/kraih/mojo-pg/builds
15:29 sri really weird situation, it works on newer versions of perl
15:30 sri now i might not have time to debug it right away
15:30 sri so, i guess the cpan version might stay kinda broken for some time :o
15:42 sri jberger: last chance, or i roll everything back and there will be none of the features we talked about
15:44 sri what a huge waste of time
15:51 * jberger just got up
15:51 jberger If it's broken then I guess roll it back
15:59 sri wanted to start the year doing something nice... instead i'm already angry
16:00 sri and broke the rules
16:01 cpan_mojo Mojo-Pg-2.34 by SRI https://metacpan.org/release/SRI/Mojo-Pg-2.34
16:02 sri https://metacpan.org/changes/release/SRI/Mojo-Pg-2.34
16:02 sri started the year removing a method in a minor release
16:02 sri yay
16:13 sri the with_temp_schema and close_idle_connections features are so dead... i never want to hear about them again

23:50 sri gonna have to think some more about it, but i think i want a Mojo::File module in core
23:51 sri which encapsulates all our uses of File::Spec, File::Temp, File::Copy, File::Basename, Cwd and so on
