09:27 batman coolo: that doesn't help me help you. need more info
09:27 coolo batman: I realize :)
09:28 coolo batman: but it took me quite a while to realize the bug I'm seeing is an assetpack bug ;(
09:28 coolo because the error only hit me when I switched to trusty on travis - and then I got a "element is not visible, you can't click"
09:29 coolo and I blamed all kind of elements in the stack - but in the end: the webfonts get a 404 with 1.30 and as such the icons are there, but aren't rendered
09:30 coolo batman: I need to find out why it's not showing in your t/font-awesome
09:31 batman t/font-awesome.t is actually broken, but i thought it was because font-awesome changed something
09:31 coolo it should work with 1.29
09:32 cpan_mojo Mojolicious-Plugin-AssetPack-1.35 by JHTHORSEN https://metacpan.org/release/JHTHORSEN/Mojolicious-Plugin-AssetPack-1.35
09:34 coolo batman: but then you already have the information you need: t/font-awesome.t is showing the problem I'm having in my tests
09:34 coolo + I can't run your tests:
09:34 coolo Not a SCALAR reference at t/Helper.pm line 21.
09:34 coolo but I don't have mojo 7.15
09:35 batman AssetPack require Mojolicious 7.15 now.
09:40 coolo yeah, that doesn't make it easier for me to reproduce on your tests - as I can't upgrade to 7.15 if I want to keep running my tests with 1.29 :)
09:41 batman coolo: i've fixed it now. making a new release soon
09:41 coolo batman: https://github.com/jhthorsen/mojolicious-plugin-assetpack/ clearly shows the commit that broke it - when the red Xs started :)
09:42 coolo batman: so no need for an issue?
09:42 batman nope
09:48 sri haarg: sounds like only backslash in the %INC file path can happen too :S https://github.com/kraih/mojo/commit/76b4e30b7a2730b806fc337d14e69391987594a7#commitcomment-20433446

09:54 sri coolo: let me know if there is anything i can do to help with the assetpack problem
09:57 haarg sri: for the test, you are manually constructing the %INC value, using canonpath.  canonpath will convert all directory separators to \ on windows.
09:57 coolo sri: for now I wonder why mojo 7.15 didn't end up on OBS yet
09:58 coolo of 7.17 for that matter
09:58 haarg while perl itself won't put backslashes in the package portion of the %INC value, it's probably safer to support that anyway
10:02 haarg sri: also catfile converts dir separators, so your fix doesn't work

12:47 dboehmer I want to test some code which uses Mojo::UserAgent to access a configurable URL. how can I do that?
12:47 dboehmer i probably want to write a Mojolicious::Lite app in my test and make my code access that

13:04 sri if anything, coverage of Mojo::Home got better

15:09 ashimema hey batman.. how do you handle js dependancies/libraries with assetpack?
15:09 ashimema we're just updating to get rid of our dependency on the backcompat stuff
15:11 ashimema we did have a pretty nasty bower_components directory directly in /public which then had the js files combined up using assetpack.. but the mix of html templates along with js in there gets awefully confusing with the new assetpack scheme..

15:35 batman ashimema: i just reference the deps directly from cdn/github, since assetpack will download them automatically for meg
15:36 batman instead of bower watching stuff, i just use `MOJO_ASSETPACK_LAZY=1 morbo ./script/myapp` instead, which will lazy build the assets on each request.
15:36 batman that way, i don't need to restart the server all the time, when i just change css styling
15:37 coolo sri: on that note, I finally managed to watch Jessica Jones
15:37 sri coolo: you need to watch stranger things!
15:38 coolo does passenger count? watched that too - the passengers are strangers!
15:38 coolo or they were - until they started to have sexual intercourse
15:40 sri this got weird pretty fast
15:40 coolo (not to avoid spoilers - it has to be noted that humans in the future seems to be infertile - there are no plans for young passengers on the ship)
15:41 sri didn't really like passengers, story was very forgettable
15:42 sri arrival on the other hand was amazing

15:44 sri don't, just don't
15:44 jberger (still weird?)
15:44 sri (coolo)
15:44 sri passengers is decent entertainment
15:45 sri assassins creed is total rubbish
15:45 jberger Stranger Things was great, coolo get on that
15:45 jberger did anyone think that Assassins Creed was going to be good?
15:45 jberger which movies based on video games have been?
15:45 sri you'd think with that cast they could do much better
15:45 sri but it's uwe boll level awful
15:46 coolo jberger: well, it's like Titanic in most senses. Great ship, plain story
15:46 coolo did I really just use senses?
15:46 jberger turns out, writing a good movie plot is hard and also writing a plot that works in a video game is very different
15:46 coolo jberger: Prince of Percia was good. From what I remember, it was about sand
15:47 jberger I didn't see it, because I seem to recall it got terrible reviews
15:47 jberger and I like Jake Gyllenhal AND I loved the game as a kid
15:47 jberger also sri is right, Arrival was spectacular, I put that at the top of my movie list for the year I think
15:48 coolo well, if you loved it as a kid, you didn't play the version they filmed :)

16:01 ashimema thanks batman.. so you just use assetpacker instead of anything else to track deps
16:01 ashimema sounds eminently sensible
16:01 batman yeah... not sure what that "other thing" would be...
16:02 ashimema npm, bower or whatver js fad of the moment is..
16:02 ashimema I can't keep up with JS
16:04 ashimema do any of those dependancies package up non-js assets with them..
16:05 ashimema the confusion I'm having is that grabbing ace-editor for example via bower grabs a bunch of html templates/decorators along with the js
16:11 sri what's up with this lazy new generation of programmers that say something is not spec compliant and then don't quote the spec -.-
16:12 sri back in my days we would have lawyered the heck out of those specs!
16:14 dboehmer sri: the URL living standard is a really large document and I had a really hard time to find a short section to quote from. I think we agree that the pasted output URL is invalid, don't we? the question is: does the spec say anywhere the to_string must not produce an invalid url?

16:45 dboehmer sri: no, not at all. I'm a pretty calm guy.
16:45 sri dboehmer: are my instructions unclear then?
16:47 sri alll i wanted was an issue with a clear description of the bug, with quotes from the specs, which i can tag as a bug, so people can start looking for a fix
16:52 dboehmer that sound's good. I try to explain why I only posted a comment: 1) my quotations were only meant as a helpful input, not a complete bug report, 2) you explicitly addressed @ilainftw (I expected you know each other, now I see he's not active at github at all) 3) you defined the condition "if this is in fact not allowed by the specs" -- that question is what we've been arguing about the whole time. So I expected further inquiry. I didn't
16:52 dboehmer expect you to confirm there actually is a problem or bug that needs to be resolved

18:00 jberger I suppose that's true, I started my hold-out before the movie existed
18:01 sri OMG
18:01 sri so jelly
18:01 sri enjoy the experience

18:02 sri \o\
18:02 jberger if I ever quit programming and become a screewriter it will be because I want someone to make this into a movie https://www.amazon.com/Lucifers-Hammer-Larry-Niven/dp/0449208133/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1484157767&sr=1-1&keywords=lucifer%27s+hammer

18:44 genio firefly was awesome
18:45 Grinnz I want someone to make more asimov based movies, at least as good as I Robot was
18:45 genio I rewatched blade runner not that long ago... I don't quite get why it's so heralded as great
18:45 Grinnz i don't care if it matches the story directly but just seeing the concepts in movie form is so satisfying
18:45 genio I didn't find it that good
18:46 Grinnz i did say "at least" :)
18:46 genio I Robot I enjoyed (was still talking about Blade Runner before)
18:46 Grinnz someone apparently made a Nightfall movie and it was terrible
18:46 Grinnz which is sad, thats one of my favorite books
18:47 genio who wrote nightfall?
18:48 Grinnz asimov
18:48 genio oh, well that was just a dumb question *should follow the conversation*
18:49 Grinnz lol
18:54 genio I'm currently going through audiobooks pretty quickly (commute and while doing yard work, etc). Dresden Files books are pretty fun

22:51 sri haarg++ # seems to work
22:52 Grinnz is the testing visible like with travis?
22:54 sri looks like strawberry does not work, just system perl (whatever that is ;p) and cygwin
22:54 sri no idea about visibility
22:54 tianon https://ci.appveyor.com/project/kraih/mojo looks about right :)
22:54 tianon should be able to get badges too
22:55 sri at least the history is public https://ci.appveyor.com/project/kraih/mojo/history
22:55 sri oh
22:55 * sri sets tianon on fire
22:55 * tianon BURNNNNNS
22:55 Grinnz ERROR: Empty checksums are no longer allowed by default for non-secure sources.
22:55 Grinnz looks like strawberry fails for a dumb reason
22:56 Grinnz they need to serve it with HTTPS or provide a checksum
22:57 tianon sri: if you're interested in badges, there should be info about that in https://ci.appveyor.com/project/kraih/mojo/settings/badges :)
22:58 Grinnz "system" appears to be activeperl 5.22.1
