04:59 zach is there a simple way to tell morbo to log at a higher debug level?

05:08 tardisx MOJO_LOG_LEVEL=DEBUG morbo script/your_thing
05:09 tardisx though I thought it was already at debug
05:09 tardisx but I use that while running tests if I'm trying to see what's going on
05:15 zach maybe it is?
05:15 zach I just want it to be as verbose as possible
05:15 zach like, even spit out HTTP codes and stuff
05:19 Grinnz MOJO_DAEMON_DEBUG will print out the raw requests and responses as they occur
05:19 Grinnz but it's not for logging, just debugging

11:03 sri not sure a chmod test case ia good idea anyway... portability and all

12:11 simak hi.
12:11 simak Is there any way to change some variable, that was declared in app, via controller?
12:11 simak for example
12:11 simak We start mojolicious under starman, on startup app loaded some data and controllets uses it. After some time we need to update that data without restarting app.
12:11 purl for example is the usage() function or the help flag managed ok ? or normally perl programmers do it in another way ?

15:21 jberger btw this is a useful metric for us: http://grep.cpan.me/?q=Mojo%3A%3AUtil.%2Aslurp
15:21 jberger and I'm in there a fair amount
15:22 jberger anyone looking to give a little back might want to open some PRs to those modules
15:22 jberger spurt too
15:24 sri wow
15:27 jberger also, my message above wasn't necessarily meaning open PRs on my modules, I'll get to them (though I won't refuse any of course :-P)

15:39 genio yea, the change broke several things here on update.  but, I think it's much cleaner in the long run, so yay Mojo::File
15:49 sri i wouldn't really mind extending the deprecation period if it causes too many problems
15:49 sri but someone has to request it and get votes
15:59 genio well, I shouldn't say "broke" it just yelled at me about the deprecation
16:00 Petru joined #mojo
16:02 nic ....until the deprecation period comes to an end
16:07 sri seriously, everyone, if a deprecation moves too fast for you, please just open an issue and request an extension
16:08 rshadow joined #mojo
16:08 nic (I meant that as an explanation of the extension offer, not a complaint)
16:09 sri oh yea, that was not directed at you
16:09 sri just a reminder for everyone
16:09 sri we are not here to make your life harder, quite the opposite :)
16:11 * sri learned way more about open source licenses than he ever wanted to learn today :S

16:25 jberger sri: so what is you executive summary of open source licenses? best? worst?
16:27 pink_mist it's a bit weird that german law doesn't recognise public domain as a license
16:29 pink_mist I'm quite fond of http://www.wtfpl.net/
16:29 nic "And the winner of Most Misunderstood Licence of 2016 is...."
16:29 pink_mist (sorry, that may be an inappropriate link ... but it's for a license...)
16:30 genio sri: I didn't mean that it went too quickly (I picked poor wording to start).
16:31 genio and the fix is really simple
16:32 sri jberger: not actually the content, but everything around them... like how there's actually a markup language for license expressions
16:32 sri https://spdx.org/spdx-specification-21-web-version
16:32 * sri actually has to implement that
16:34 sri it has operator precedence and everything
16:34 sri (MIT AND (LGPL-2.1+ OR BSD-3-Clause))
16:36 genio o.O
16:38 jberger :o
16:39 coolo sri: did you know there is Artistic-1.0 and Artistic-1.0-Perl ? :)
16:39 jberger is the protocol for declaring licenses licensed under an open source license?
16:39 sri coolo: i saw the list :D
16:40 sri coolo: i'm just accepting it at this point ;p
16:41 jberger I just opened the link and almost immediately went cross-eyed
16:41 coolo sri: perl's license has 10 clauses, artistic-1.0 only 9
16:43 sri wow, that is interesting
16:44 sri now i'm curious what the 10th clause is
16:44 genio https://opensource.org/licenses/Artistic-1.0
16:45 genio very top has the clause
16:47 sri genio++

20:00 sole I have a jquery datepicker component that puts the date_from and date_to values into an input tag. How can I have the mojo controller read these values and reload the page? I've looked through the docs, wiki, and mailing list and it seems like I'm not quite getting it.
20:01 sole I'd appreciate any help
20:05 pink_mist uh, reloading a page can only be done through js
20:05 pink_mist the controller has absolutely no way of doing that
20:05 pink_mist it's already long since finished by the time the user picks some dates on the page

23:19 Grinnz hmm. i feel like there should be an indication that https://metacpan.org/pod/Mojolicious#max_request_size also affects the max_message_size of requests, and thus affects https://metacpan.org/pod/Mojo::Message#is_limit_exceeded
23:23 Grinnz same for Mojo::UA max_response_size of course
