00:00 jberger I'll try to turn that into a blog, maybe even this weekend
00:00 jberger it would help as something I could point to for my CarPark article which has kinda stalled while I keep making CarPark nicer
00:02 jberger also, I currently have 3 mojo apps, 1 php app and 1 simple nginx file-based server as "virtual hosts" in my sites-enabled folder, each using this general structure
00:03 jberger obviously the php and file servers have a slightly different body of their virtual host config file, but the inclusion of those two files is exactly the same

03:15 zach if I want the app to go to say, index.html and nothing else by default, what's the best way to do that?
03:16 zach actually, that may be the dumbest thing I ever said, ignore me, I just had an idea

16:37 dexteruk hi i want to read an image into a varible that i can later send as part of json
16:37 dexteruk I have looked at $asset = $static->file('images/logo.png');
16:37 dexteruk but it returns nothing
16:38 dexteruk i have looked at File::Slurp but is there a native mojolicous method i can use

17:34 jberger dexteruk: note that sending binary data as part of a textual representation (ie JSON) is fraught with peril
17:34 jberger usually the "best" you can do is base64 encode it before you do that, but at significantly increasing the size of the data

20:29 kevin21 How many bugs does mojolicious have?
20:30 genio no current known bugs.  one feature issue still open
20:31 genio metacpan.org/pod/Mojolicious  it shows you on the left how many issues any given dist has
20:34 kevin21 Can we implement HTTP/2 before sunday evening
20:35 genio you're welcome to take a shot at it.
20:38 jberger kevin21: hehe, why?

22:21 tv Hi! I'm trying to get a plugin to work (Mojolicious::Plugin::Database), and it says it will create a helper function for me... but I can't figure out how to access the helper function from a controller -- works in template
22:24 sri just use Mojo::Pg or Mojo::SQLite
22:38 polettix joined #mojo
22:38 tv well, I'm still wondering how I can access helper functions within controllers
22:39 Grinnz $c->helper_name
22:39 Grinnz or $self->helper_name
22:39 Grinnz whatever you named the invocant
22:41 tv thanks =) .. for some reason, that was not on the list of things I tried first
22:41 Grinnz https://metacpan.org/pod/Mojolicious::Guides::Tutorial#Helpers
22:42 tv I've had some trouble wrapping my head around what the differences are between Lite and !Lite .. and most tutorials seem to be centered around Lite
22:43 pink_mist ::Lite is just a really thin wrapper around normal Mojolicious
22:43 pink_mist read its source code
22:43 Grinnz the difference is you call methods on the app object in startup, rather than calling functions that Lite installed
22:43 pink_mist it's very small
22:43 Grinnz very little other than that
22:45 pink_mist only real difference is group
22:45 pink_mist which ::Lite has, but simply isn't needed in regular Mojolicious
22:46 tv thanks guys =)
