00:16 mohawk stupid questions are inevitable
00:16 mohawk wisdom is, if we are lucky, at best fleeting

14:48 slizze Hello
14:48 mohawk yo
14:48 mohawk what's up?
14:49 slizze Norin much
14:49 slizze New guy here
14:50 slizze just checking in.. what goes on in here mate?
14:50 maschine shenanigans
14:50 genio general discussions and help with mojo
14:51 genio and shenanigans.
14:51 slizze Hmmm
14:52 slizze was actually on the net looking for how to search for information of place of birth
14:52 slizze All I could find was ancestry. com and the likes but it isnt giving me the information I need
14:52 slizze Any help/pointers on where I can find such info?
14:59 genio in the US, birth records are maintained by each state. none are exactly alike in how they store this information. you have to pay for such info from each and every state
15:00 mohawk i'd be surprised if there isn't a commercial aggregator of that, like ancestry, though?

18:57 genio kes: I'd rather not read eval {} or do {};  Syntax::Keyword::Try
19:45 jberger sri: starting my changes
19:46 jberger and I just want to confirm, all I have to do is replace ->catch( with ->tap(on => error =>
19:46 jberger correct?
20:03 petru joined #mojo
20:04 sri sure, that works
20:04 sri i guess it makes sense to deprecate ->data
20:05 sri it's a little awkward now
20:06 sri cpan grep shows almost no uses
20:07 jberger dude
20:08 karjala_ joined #mojo
20:15 jberger hmmm, I guess I don't use it as much as I thought I did

20:15 good_news_everyon left #mojo
20:15 sri we don't even use it in core anywhere
20:15 sri it was always weird

20:17 good_news_everyon [mojo] kraih pushed 1 new commit to master: https://git.io/vFIKt
20:17 good_news_everyon mojo/master 97728dc Sebastian Riedel: no need for a list

20:17 sri now there is only begin, steps and pass for the steps api
20:18 sri nothing ambiguous
20:20 sri the original use case for ->data was being able to pass sub refs  as steps, ->steps(\&foo, ...)
20:20 sri pointless now
20:21 sri combine callback apis quickly: steps, make abstract composable non-blocking api: promises
20:23 CandyAngel I used ->data to hold a Mojo::Collection for each step to populate
20:24 sri so now you close over a %data hash

21:39 CandyAngel Why perl? You shouldn't even be getting to that line if the value is undefined :|
21:39 CandyAngel return unless defined $name;
21:39 CandyAngel return $name->{text};
21:40 CandyAngel Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at (second line)
21:45 mohawk is it an overload or other "magic"?
21:46 CandyAngel It was some weird other magic, I changed how "$name" gets assigned and it works now
21:46 mohawk boom
21:48 jamesaxl Hi
21:48 CandyAngel Heyas jamesaxl
21:48 mohawk yo
21:50 jamesaxl Is it possible to create a daemon into mojo app? my goal is to make my app update database on every minute,
21:51 CandyAngel It's better to make that into a command, then have something like 'cron' run that command
21:51 jamesaxl I can create perl daemon that can do this job, but i want make everything on my mojo app
21:53 marcus jamesaxl: if you use the mojo daemon, you can use a recurring timer to run your task if you prefer that approach
21:53 CandyAngel You could make a command that does IOLoop->recurring(60 => sub { ..update.. })..?
21:53 marcus http://mojolicious.org/perldoc/Mojo/IOLoop#recurring
21:54 jamesaxl thank you very much
21:55 mohawk dang, travis-perl/helpers has accumulated some problems over time
22:41 jberger ok I think that's all my CPAN modules updated
22:41 jberger my old boss is working on my old code there
22:41 jberger so don't go releasing early

22:47 jamesaxl jberger: you should not share you code with your boss
22:50 jberger oh? they paid me well for it :-p
