09:40 geospeck Hi guys, When I give this command "perl -Mojo -E 'say g("https://www.google.com/")->dom("title")->text;'" I am getting an error "IO::Socket::SSL 1.94+ required for TLS support at /Users/nrg/.plenv/versions/5.26.1/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.26.1/ojo.pm line 34."
09:41 CandyAngel geospeck: Because you are using https, you need that SSL module
09:42 geospeck so I need to install "IO::Socket::SSL" ?
09:42 CandyAngel Yup, version 1.94 or above
09:44 geospeck CandyAngel: thank you very much! It works!
09:46 CandyAngel Yay! ^_^

13:01 sri yea, definitely like 280 chars
13:01 sri still makes you keep it short, but you no longer have to switch out words to make sentences fit :)

13:31 sri reminder, tomorrow starts hackweek, so i'll be working on this! https://github.com/kraih/minion/issues/25
13:31 sri if anyone wants to add ideas
13:41 sri Grinnz: not sure if you're aware of this yet https://github.com/kraih/minion/issues/57

13:46 sri Grinnz: i think it's a bug in Minion::Backend::SQLite
13:48 sri i think your backend needs a separate interval setting
13:49 sri a 0.5s usleep and dequeue loop that lasts for those 5 seconds
13:52 CandyAngel If only Minion was spelt differently.. it could be Min-UI-n
13:52 mohawk eye-roll emoji
13:52 sri 🙄
13:53 mohawk ^
13:55 CandyAngel I can't see sri's so I appreciate the alt-text mohawk :P
13:58 mohawk i had to look at the irclog doodah in the /topic myself
14:00 mohawk soon i will switch to a unicode-aware client

15:14 Grinnz sri: maybe, since theres no pubsub to notify it of new jobs
15:16 Grinnz sri: do you suggest just an attribute on the backend?
15:18 sri Grinnz: yea, with a sensible default
15:19 sri of course i have no idea what's best for performance with sqlite

16:41 wouter so when I try to run my webapp inside morbo, it seems to work
16:41 wouter but when I run it inside hypnotoad, I get "DBD::Pg::st execute failed: SSL error: decryption failed or bad record mac at <source file>"
16:41 wouter any idea why that might be the case?
16:42 pink_mist what OS are you on? how are you interfacing with postgresql? straight through DBI?
16:43 Grinnz are you using a connection pool for fork safety?
16:43 Grinnz like Mojo::Pg
16:43 pink_mist if you're doing it through DBI directly, you should either switch to Mojo::Pg or using DBIx::Connector
16:43 pink_mist or something similar to those
16:43 wouter hrmpf, okay
16:45 wouter (yes, was using DBI directly)
16:47 Phil21 hmm, someone stole my mechanical keyboard and replaced it with a monoprice rubber dome... jberger was in the office later than me last night, I think he's primary suspect
16:47 jberger :o
16:47 jberger I mean, really, who is more likely, me or Eric?
16:47 Phil21 good thing I have a number of spares to go to
16:47 Phil21 both
16:48 jberger I don't even want your keyboard, and Eric thinks you stole his charger! totally Eric
16:48 Phil21 why would I steal his shitty charger
16:48 Phil21 I don't even have that laptop any more
16:49 jberger (do you like how I have no idea and yet I'm totally comfortable throwing him under the bus?)
16:49 Phil21 haha
16:49 Phil21 I just choose you to blame and hold you responsible until it shows up! problem solved!
16:49 Grinnz this is what git blame was made for
16:59 wouter is it possible for me to use Mojo::Pg and still use a DBI object?
17:00 wouter otherwise I have to rewrite all my database interaction code, essentially... :-/
17:00 karjala_ joined #mojo
17:00 Grinnz no, the whole point is you can't use the DBI object directly and be fork-safe
17:00 purl okay, Grinnz.
17:01 Grinnz any DBI object that existed before the fork cannot be reused after a fork
17:01 wouter ah, but DBIx::Connector seems to allow something along those lines?
17:01 wouter at lesat the API will be the same in a duck typing kind of way
17:01 pink_mist no, it gives you new objects all the time
17:01 Grinnz however, you can retrieve a dbh from the Mojo::Pg object within a function then use that
17:01 wouter or that :)
17:02 Grinnz my $dbh = $pg->db->dbh;
17:02 wouter yeah, I'm doing that
17:02 Grinnz but make sure not to keep that around, or you defeat the purpose
17:02 wouter er, no, not exactly that
17:02 wouter sorry, my mistake
17:02 wouter yeah, I wasn't actually storing a database handle anywhere, I had a helper
17:02 wouter but the helper uses a state variable... so kindof stupid
17:03 Grinnz you could instead store the Mojo::Pg object, then have the helper return a dbh from it
17:06 wouter whee, things work again :)
17:06 wouter thanks
