00:00 Snoothy so with a EPD, the second most power consuming component would be the bt and/or wifi?
00:00 ds2 no, the most pwr consuming part is the bt or wifi
00:01 Snoothy oh
00:01 ds2 the screen on the actv is just off normally so it doesn't consume power
00:01 ds2 with EPD, it also doesn't consume power unless it gets updated
00:01 Snoothy true
00:03 ds2 cortex-m0, accel, compass, epd , wifi
00:03 ds2 all doable in the size of a watch and prototypeable
00:03 Snoothy "Pebble is now even more water resistant! You can go swimming, run in the rain with Pebble."
00:03 ds2 that is a mechanical thing
00:03 Snoothy i never expected that you could swim with such a watch
00:03 ds2 do a cap sense button and...
00:03 ds2 maybe add inductive charging coils
00:04 ds2 the hardest part so far is getting ratings on if a bt module is rated for use near your wrist or not
00:04 ds2 some of the panasonic ones are suppose to be at min 20cm away :(
00:05 Snoothy is that some regulations about the strength of the bt signal?
00:05 ds2 most folks don't like their arms slowly microwaved by their watches ;)
00:05 ds2 but there is FCC regs on that for other reasons
00:05 Snoothy i guess that same applies for phones?
00:05 ds2 2.4GHz is the same thing that ovens use
00:05 ds2 yeah but phones are further away from the body then a watch would be
00:06 Snoothy i got my phone in my pocket all day >_>
00:06 ds2 there is a lot of talk about it
00:06 ds2 a quick way of getting in trouble is using a module in a way the mfg suggests you don't!
00:07 Snoothy xD
00:07 Snoothy and i guess it's not possible to shield you from the signal
00:07 Snoothy putting some kind of isolation under the module
00:08 ds2 donno
00:08 ds2 w/a 10hr battery life for constant use, that isn't interesting anyways
00:08 ds2 it needs to have like a week or two of battery life
00:08 ds2 EPD + processor can do that
00:12 ds2 what do you think? 10hr battery life on a watch
00:13 Snoothy i'm happy if my devices can last a normal day
00:13 Snoothy i recharge them over night anyway
00:13 ds2 I see
00:13 Snoothy but anything less than a day is annoying
00:14 ds2 how do you define a day>?
00:14 ds2 24hr? 8hr?
00:14 Snoothy more or less 10 hours
00:14 Snoothy from you leave the house till you get home
00:14 ds2 oh I see
00:15 ds2 wonder if it is worth while building up a proto just for the hell of it
00:15 ds2 maybe my standards are too stringent
00:15 Snoothy what would you do for OS?
00:15 ds2 no OS, bare metal
00:16 Snoothy OS as in operating system
00:16 ds2 if someone wants to cooperate...
00:16 ds2 yes, and I am saying no OS
00:16 Snoothy oh
00:16 ds2 for a lot of the smaller stuff, there is no OS
00:16 ds2 just a event loop
00:17 ds2 something like while(1) { sleep(1); update_display(1); }
00:19 Snoothy whats the lowest power bt module you've found so far?
00:19 ds2 surprisingly, they are all similar in power
00:19 ds2 all class 2's... class 3's would be nice but they don't seem common
00:20 ds2 probally try it with a bluegiga one since I already have symbols for that
00:25 Snoothy not sure if this is of interest: http://goo.gl/jLBzO

06:18 JohnDoe_ dproldan: thanks again for all your efforts, this thing is getting more and more stable, amazed still what this little tablet watch can do!
06:23 JohnDoe_ What Calendar app are you using?  I cannot seem to launch the stock Calendar app, I am using Calengoo.  I there something that I am missing to start using the stock Cal app?
06:37 dproldan I still haven't tried any Calendar app
06:44 JohnDoe_ Maybe if we push the Calendar.apk from the DroidX to /system/app it would show up in the programs... just throwing it out there.
06:44 dproldan trying that just now
06:49 JohnDoe_ Cool
06:50 dproldan uhm,  there's no calendar.apk with for the DroidX
06:50 dproldan blurCalendar.apk  also doens't give any icon
06:51 JohnDoe_ I am going to try getting Cal.apk out of a CM7 zip
06:54 JohnDoe_ I read in the forum that the one from HTC Desire seems to be a good base...
06:54 JohnDoe_ at least the calculator app works well from that ROM
06:55 dproldan calculator seems to be an easy one,  self contained,  no syncs,  etc.  any calculator.apk works fine
07:00 JohnDoe_ Calendar is now visible, but of course FCs on startup
07:08 dproldan try to push Calendarprovider.apk too
07:09 JohnDoe_ Doing that now...
07:12 JohnDoe_ Still FC-ing
07:13 dproldan these packages were taken over by Blur,  contacs, calendar, Phone, Email...
07:13 dproldan I'm not sure If I want to put that crap in the MotoACTV
07:16 JohnDoe_ Understood, like I stated I use CalenGoo for my calendar and it works very well... just trying to see if there was a way... there probably is a way, I just dont know how/why - I think I will pass on this challenge
07:22 dproldan yep,  there are bigger issues right now
07:23 dproldan I'm making a zip with some programs, and configurations,  to avoid the need for a computer after a factory reset,  for example
07:24 dproldan the problem I have is:  If I modify the keys to home, menu,  we loose some of the stock functions, (start activity, crono, etc)
07:25 dproldan But If I don't modify the star key,  I cannot access the custom launcher..
07:26 JohnDoe_ What are some of the current issues?  A flashable cwm zip?  Remapping is cool, Custom launcher is wack, there are many other better launchers available, If you make a zip to reflash of course it would be the decision of the user who flashes to figure it out afterwards, no?
07:28 dproldan yes,  I'm trying to make things easy
07:28 dproldan I didn't mean Custom Launcher,  I'm using SimpleHome (lite)
07:29 dproldan just to give the user something from the start
07:32 JohnDoe_ You are succeeding at it well already with the contacts, calendar and FC isssues.... a month ago we didnt have all of those things.
07:32 JohnDoe_ SimleHome?  I'll have to check into that
07:33 dproldan looks better suited for the MA screen
07:33 dproldan dunno
07:35 dproldan I'm trying with key combinations now,  vol up + vol down: change keyboard modifcations
07:36 JohnDoe_ Widget integration on SimpleHome?
07:36 dproldan no,  no widgets
07:36 dproldan not so cool, uh?
07:36 JohnDoe_ less cool
07:37 JohnDoe_ My favorite is LauncherPro, hiding the statusbar gives widgets more room on the little MA screen
07:38 dproldan I should try it
07:41 JohnDoe_ The 'PRO' version lets you resize widgets which is really nice
07:42 dproldan zeam also lets you hide the status bar,  resize widgets

08:04 JohnDoe_ zeam seems to kick butt!  Less memory usage than LauncherPro, nice tip thx
08:04 Snoothy can zeam hide the dock?
08:04 dproldan yeah,  I should probably stick with it
08:05 dproldan yeah.  go into settings,  gestures,  or something like that,  and assing i.e. "bottom to top" to hide status bar
08:05 dproldan sorry I have it in spanish
08:06 dproldan oh,  the dock,  I don't think so
08:13 dproldan uhm,  the key combo to launch bugtugo.sh doesn't seem to work
08:14 dproldan have you used buttonremapper?
08:29 JohnDoe_ Need to use Zeam version 2.88 if you want scrollable widgets....
08:29 dproldan scrollable widgets? what's that?
09:44 dproldan joined #motoactv
10:29 dproldan oh, button savior seems to be a good solution
