03:12 ds2 (not actv specific) - anyone know why system_server is making tcp connections to google on an apparently idle system?
03:19 ds2 seems like a spy connection

04:27 CEnnis91 ds2: pretty sure thats the backup stuff
04:27 CEnnis91 [mbm]: might know
04:29 [mbm] it'll be one of the services; probably the gtalk/checkin
04:29 CEnnis91 [mbm]: iirc ds2 avoids gapps
04:30 [mbm] also if dproldan comes back there's a masterclear util that can perform the fastboot -w style resets
04:31 CEnnis91 yea i was prepared to tell him about "wipe"
04:31 CEnnis91 isnt masterclear blur?
04:32 [mbm] don't think so, been a while since I've poked at that stuff though
04:33 CEnnis91 same here
04:33 CEnnis91 ill check on my nexus
04:34 CEnnis91 no binary
04:34 CEnnis91 pretty sure thats a blur thing
04:36 CEnnis91 yea, and it's symlinked to motobox, works nonetheless
04:45 ds2 ?????
04:45 ds2 I advoid gaps?
04:45 ds2 avoid
04:52 CEnnis91 ds2: may have been dproldan
04:53 ds2 *shrug*

14:25 [1]Wolfie Hi :)
14:25 [1]Wolfie am hoping I could get some help....think i killed my motoactv...
14:27 [1]Wolfie tried to return it to stock using the motoactv root tool.....and now it gets stuck at the motorola logo screen when i power on
14:28 [1]Wolfie and if i try to enter fastboot i get this low battery warning and it doesn't allow me to reflash or do anything. Also can't seem to get it charged enough to get past this. It stops charging on its own after 5-10 mins...
14:30 [1]Wolfie read of the forums that j4s0nc and bdaman80 had somewhat similar probs and am wondering if the only way to solve this is to open my motoactv up and charge it manually like they did? :(
15:05 android-freak Hi
15:05 android-freak Dont open it up yet
15:07 android-freak Turn it completely off and connect it with the wall charger to the wall and let it charge for 2-3 hours
15:07 android-freak Then enter fastboot
15:07 android-freak You´re not the first to have that problem
15:09 android-freak http://motoactvforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25
15:09 android-freak Don't know if that's the final solution
15:10 android-freak If you solve it by some other mean please reply to the post and tell us how you fixed it
15:20 [1]Wolfie thx
15:21 [1]Wolfie i don't get the battery symbol though. Just shows the moto logo. But i'll give it a go and hopefully it'll fix things

16:46 dproldan [1]Wolfie: if recharging it *with the wall charger* doesn't work for you,  you'll have to use a USB factory cable that powers the device bypassing the battery
17:02 christefano joined #motoactv
17:17 dproldan lol,   google is demoing the new maps features with an iPad,  funny people
17:26 [1]Wolfie just tried the wall plug 2hr charge thingy....it doesn't even turn on now though. Seems like it didn't charge at all in the past 2 hrs. But when i plug it into my computer's usb now the charge LED comes on
17:27 [1]Wolfie it usually charges until theres enough power for it to startup....then it goes to the moto logo and the charge LED turns off, so i suppose it stops charging then
17:28 dproldan yep
17:28 dproldan try to turn it off when the LED turns off,   holding "start" and "power" for 20 seconds
17:29 dproldan then plug it to the wall charger (don't turn the device on, it should come on by itself) and see if the battery picture appears
17:30 [1]Wolfie yup, trying it now
17:30 [1]Wolfie thx :)
17:47 [1]Wolfie didn't work :/. Moto logo appeared, but no battery symbol or charge LED
17:48 dproldan pity
17:49 dproldan you'll have to find yourself a factory cable
17:49 [1]Wolfie aye, will do. Thx for the help :)
17:49 [1]Wolfie hopefully that cable will fix this.....hate to have killed my motoactv :/
17:49 dproldan np,  by the way,  this has happened to a lot of us
17:50 dproldan oh,  will definitely help
17:50 [1]Wolfie does the factory cable usually work?
17:50 dproldan yes,  it's a hardware thing
17:51 [1]Wolfie so its just charge until full using the factory cable....then flash system.img and do a flashboot -w i suppose?
17:51 [1]Wolfie if i didn't understood what i was reading right lol
17:52 [1]Wolfie i understood+
17:52 dproldan you don't even need to charge it
17:52 dproldan when you plug it this cable you just don't need a battery anymore,  so you can go into fastboot and it won't complain about battert low
17:52 [1]Wolfie i see
17:52 [1]Wolfie thats cool
17:52 [1]Wolfie thx :)
17:53 dproldan and don't just flash boot.img
17:53 dproldan flash everything just to be sure
17:54 dproldan use the stock images from cennis and his flash_all.sh
17:54 [1]Wolfie yup, will flash everything just to be sure
17:56 [1]Wolfie umm, do i use cennis' stock image, rooted image or reboot recovery?
17:57 [1]Wolfie just looking at the thread and he has 3 types there...
17:57 dproldan reboot recovery is need for entering recovery if you use the stock images,  just to flash anyroot.zip
17:58 dproldan it's good to use the stock images because they allow you to update to the latest release with Motocast
17:59 dproldan so,   flash the stock images,   update with Motocast (two times) so you get to version 1.7.2/1.7.3.  then flash reboot recovery,  then apply anyroot.zip
18:00 dproldan :-)
18:00 [1]Wolfie got it lol. Was just reading the thread all the way from the start to figure out stuff
18:00 [1]Wolfie thx again

18:26 dproldan AndroidFreak: abot the wifi shuting off…   did you setup a motocast id for the phone?
18:26 AndroidFreak Hmm, no
18:26 AndroidFreak I intend to
18:26 dproldan I onl y had that problem once,  it could be related
18:27 dproldan sorry,  not for the phone,  for the Motoactv
18:27 AndroidFreak Supposedly bluetooth tether is better
18:28 dproldan ?  I'm not talking about that
18:28 AndroidFreak_ joined #motoactv
18:28 dproldan you said in your fourm that your wifi turns off by itself after a few seconds
18:29 AndroidFreak_ true...
18:29 dproldan I've seen a lot of people have that problem,  trying to find the cause,  because it's never been a problem for me
18:29 AndroidFreak_ I menat now that a bluetoothe tether with the phone would solve the surfing issue
18:29 AndroidFreak_ but, you're right, it doesn't solve the Wifi issue
18:30 AndroidFreak_ really annoying problem
18:30 dproldan and plenty of programs won't connect to internet from a BT connection
18:30 AndroidFreak_ ok... damnit..
18:30 AndroidFreak_ then I need to fix it
18:30 dproldan what version are you using?
18:31 AndroidFreak_ I've been reading the huge thread @ XDA but noone seems to have a solution
18:31 AndroidFreak_ I'll check
18:31 AndroidFreak_ 1.6.7
18:31 dproldan ok,  how do you turn on wifi?
18:32 AndroidFreak_ I tried both the intenter and powersettings widget
18:32 AndroidFreak_ same result
18:33 dproldan ok
18:33 ds2 didn't one of the threads mention that if you install the managers, it'll solve the auto off wifi issue?
18:33 AndroidFreak_ hmmm
18:33 AndroidFreak_ @ XDA?
18:33 ds2 yes
18:33 AndroidFreak_ dunno
18:33 ds2 but there are so many threads and so many posts :(
18:34 AndroidFreak_ haven't found that thread
18:34 AndroidFreak_ I know
18:34 AndroidFreak_ I've tried searching for it
18:34 AndroidFreak_ but it's useless
18:34 dproldan ds2: you mean the contacts files I posted?
18:34 AndroidFreak_ I was hoping it be sorted by the new release
18:34 AndroidFreak_ but no one has reported that
18:35 ds2 dproldan: no, it was something to do with a missing wifi manager of sources
18:35 ds2 sorts
18:35 ds2 blah
18:35 dproldan I don't remember about that
18:36 dproldan anyway
18:36 AndroidFreak_ ok...
18:36 dproldan AndroidFreak: do you have access to the menu button
18:36 dproldan ?
18:36 AndroidFreak_ yeah
18:36 dproldan if you use Intenter to launch the wifi settings
18:36 dproldan and you press the menu button
18:36 AndroidFreak_ ok...
18:36 dproldan press "advanced"
18:37 AndroidFreak_ ok...
18:37 dproldan there's a setting
18:37 AndroidFreak_ sleep policy = never
18:37 dproldan inactivity policy or somehting like that
18:37 dproldan ok
18:37 AndroidFreak_ :/
18:37 dproldan put if to when screen off,  and got back to "never"
18:37 dproldan and go back...
18:38 AndroidFreak_ just did that
18:38 AndroidFreak_ ;)
18:38 AndroidFreak_ gonna see if it helps
18:38 dproldan also,  turn on autoIP setting
18:38 dproldan DHCP
18:38 AndroidFreak_ ok
18:38 AndroidFreak_ connected now
18:39 AndroidFreak_ launching play store
18:40 AndroidFreak_ still working
18:40 AndroidFreak_ hmmm
18:40 AndroidFreak_ downloading bigass app
18:41 dproldan oh,  I don't think it turns off when you are actually using it
18:41 AndroidFreak_ it did before
18:41 dproldan ok
18:41 AndroidFreak_ couldnt even get first webpage
18:42 AndroidFreak_ ok now it shut off
18:42 AndroidFreak_ during surfing
18:42 dproldan what launcher are you using?
18:42 AndroidFreak_ launcher pro
18:42 dproldan can you try with zeam?
18:43 AndroidFreak_ could try
18:43 AndroidFreak_ available on market?
18:43 dproldan yes
18:44 AndroidFreak_ hmmm
18:44 dproldan after installing zeam,  uninstall launcher pro and its data from Intenter's "mamage apps"  just to be sure
18:44 AndroidFreak_ cant search
18:44 AndroidFreak_ damnit
18:44 dproldan manage
18:44 AndroidFreak_ I'll use the... whatsitcalled
18:44 dproldan heh,  marketsearch?
18:44 AndroidFreak_ the motoactv ... tool
18:45 dproldan it's also included in the modtool
18:45 AndroidFreak_ push zeam through adb
18:45 AndroidFreak_ yea
18:46 AndroidFreak_ installing zeam
18:47 AndroidFreak_ rebooting motoactv
18:47 dproldan no need to reboot
18:47 dproldan but ok
18:47 AndroidFreak_ the tool does that automatically
18:47 dproldan oh,  i see
18:52 AndroidFreak_ still surfing
18:52 AndroidFreak_ ok
18:52 AndroidFreak_ wifi died again
18:52 AndroidFreak_ 2 minutes
18:53 AndroidFreak_ lasted about 2 minutes
18:53 dproldan so strange…  I've gone back to stock countless times
18:53 dproldan but I've always installed the same things
18:54 dproldan not from the modtool tough
18:54 dproldan there must be an apk you guys are installing that's doing this
18:54 AndroidFreak_ hmm
18:56 AndroidFreak_ dunno
18:56 AndroidFreak_ mine has never worked ok
18:57 AndroidFreak_ thanks for the ideas though.
18:57 AndroidFreak_ :)
18:59 dproldan you can alwasy fix it  going back to stock,  updating,  using anyroot,  install gapps,  and use adb to install things,  instead of the ModTool
18:59 AndroidFreak_ you think?
19:00 dproldan I'm pretty sure,  you want to try now?
19:00 AndroidFreak_ I dont think I have the energy... everything is the perfect way I want it now
19:00 AndroidFreak_ hehe
19:00 dproldan ok,  :-)
19:01 AndroidFreak_ I'm gonna wait and see if anyone solves it within the next weeks... if not, I might try to go back to stock
19:02 dproldan I don't think abybody is working with 1.6.7 anymore
19:02 AndroidFreak_ ok...
19:02 dproldan one more thing...
19:03 AndroidFreak_ Ill update when I have more time
19:03 dproldan did you use ClearDroid?
19:03 AndroidFreak_ yeah
19:03 dproldan uhm
19:03 dproldan cool for the first time,  not cool after that
19:04 AndroidFreak_ ok, any alternatives?
19:04 AndroidFreak_ thought it was the only one
19:05 dproldan It's just a collection of packages and files,  you can install everything manually,  update versions
19:05 dproldan updated
19:05 AndroidFreak_ ok...
19:06 dproldan ok, let me know if you want to try some other day
19:06 AndroidFreak_ I only followed a guide @ the wikispace
19:06 AndroidFreak_ thanks.. :)
19:06 AndroidFreak_ yeah I might wanna try that when I've done my exam...
19:07 AndroidFreak_ I study most hours of the day now

19:55 CEnnis91 dproldan: did you ever get your answer about the wiping from adb
19:56 lonewulfcloud joined #motoactv
19:57 dproldan yes
19:57 CEnnis91 okay
20:48 dproldan Moto said in colors.xml that the default notification color is pure green
20:48 dproldan as the MotoACTV has no green led,  notifications for apps don't work
20:49 dproldan I edited framework-res.apk  to set it to white color,  and it works now
20:49 ds2 are we sure of that? i.e. is the white LED really just white not RGB?
20:49 dproldan I tried to turn them on individually
20:50 dproldan when you turn on blue,  the white led turns on
20:50 ds2 via /sys or?
20:50 dproldan yep
20:50 ds2 sys/class/leds I assume?
20:50 dproldan one sec,
20:51 dproldan # echo 1 > brightness
20:51 dproldan shit
20:52 dproldan sys/devices/platform/leds-cpcap-rgb/leds/blue
20:52 dproldan # echo 1 > brightness
20:52 ds2 ah
20:52 ds2 so we don't really know if that is a driver limitation or a real hw limitation
20:53 ds2 has anyone made infocus high resolution pictures of the actv PCB?
20:53 ds2 be nice to confirm that it is a simple 2 terminal LED and not a lack of time to do a full driver
20:54 dproldan the LED is hidden under a plastic layer
20:54 ds2 doh
20:55 dproldan I've seen enough tri-color SMT LEDs,  looks like a single color to me,  but can't confirm
20:56 dproldan anyway,  there seems to be apps in the market to change this default notif color if anyone's interested
20:56 dproldan probably it's also stored in an xml
20:56 dproldan CEnnis91: ping
20:56 CEnnis91 yea?
20:57 CEnnis91 LED?
20:57 dproldan yep
20:57 CEnnis91 one color - white
20:57 CEnnis91 i loled when i found that out
20:57 dproldan default notif color,  where is it stored?  you know?
20:57 dproldan which xml
20:57 CEnnis91 hmmm
20:57 CEnnis91 i think its stored in the app itself
20:57 CEnnis91 tbh
20:58 CEnnis91 cyanogenmod has a way to capture the calling of LED notifs and overrides it
20:58 CEnnis91 i never checked to see how it was done thou
