06:08 Tene_ zarah: tell masak I got HTTPKKDaemon using parrot sockets... no socat required.  will build pastebin during work tomorrow, then commit when I can get to cafe after work
06:08 zarah Consider it noted.
06:10 Tene_ zarah: tell masak I am also looking at mod-parrot on apache again
06:10 zarah Consider it noted.
06:50 wayland76 Tene++ :)
08:33 eiro hello
08:33 zarah ni hao eiro
08:44 wayland76 hi eiro on 3 channels :)
08:44 eiro :)
08:45 eiro sharing interests ;)
08:45 eiro i'm thinking about template-toolkit and jemplate
08:46 wayland76 I'm more of a HTML::Mason person myself
08:46 wayland76 Because of the autohandler and dhandler features
08:46 eiro i read http://ejohn.org/blog/javascript-language-abstractions/ and wondering how to deal with javascript properly
08:46 zarah eiro's link is also http://tinyurl.com/5f54wq
08:47 eiro frankly: i think that using a hll into a template engine sucks ... because
08:47 eiro - template writers have access to the mechanism
08:48 eiro - so they will do things that are not for the template logic
08:48 eiro - you can't share with other programming communauties
08:49 eiro - you can't think a langage that is done for output
08:49 wayland76 From your "frankly" comment on, are you still referring to the Javascript, or to HTML::Mason?
08:49 eiro HTML::Mason is a php++ for me ... and php sucks
08:49 eiro no, no: i talk about mason
08:50 wayland76 ok :)
08:51 eiro but it's not a question of design or anything else ... it's just the fact that i want a complete separation between the programmers and the template writers
08:51 eiro and mason don't give me that
08:51 wayland76 No, not really, I guess
08:53 wayland76 My plan is to backend all my web-related stuff onto XML somehow (ie. use XML files instead of a database)
08:53 eiro another think that i love with TT2 is that we can port in for other langages. Imagine some projects written in python or ruby or perl sharing templates
08:53 eiro you don't like speed ?
08:55 wayland76 eiro: Well, that's the downside of the idea :)
08:56 wayland76 Actually, I don't really care whether it's in XML or not, as long as I can select the data with something like XPath :)
08:58 eiro hehe ... so you need something like zebra
08:58 eiro but it's very hard to configure
08:59 wayland76 Why do I need routing software?  Or is there another zebra
08:59 wayland76 ?
08:59 eiro another pb is that xml is boring to edit. I'm a fan of yaml and i think it could be possible to use xpath to navigate into any kind of datatree
08:59 wayland76 Oh, wait, I think I found it...
08:59 eiro http://indexdata.com/zebra/
08:59 wayland76 Well, I'm looking at doing a CMS, so it'd be editable through the interface :)
09:00 eiro PITA to configure but perfs are awsome
09:00 eiro do you know etna ?
09:01 wayland76 Etna is a mountain, somewhere in Italy (I think)
09:01 wayland76 Or Greece
09:01 wayland76 But that's all I know
09:03 eiro http://etna.disruptive-innovations.com/
09:03 zarah eiro's link is also http://tinyurl.com/d4p8fk
09:03 wayland76 eiro: I was also looking at Monet at one point
09:04 eiro monet ?
09:04 wayland76 Looks kinda cool
09:04 eiro the painter ?
09:05 eiro anyway: i was working on my own wiki syntax
09:05 wayland76 Sorry, MonetDB
09:05 eiro http://mc.koha-fr.org/mac/tuto/wwk
09:05 zarah eiro's link is also http://tinyurl.com/cooq2t
09:05 eiro remove the wwk to see the render
09:07 eiro but when i began to write the RFC for a more complete wiki, i seen i need a grammar for it so i decide to learn perl6 before
09:07 wayland76 Oh, ok :)
09:07 eiro masak can be interested by this :)
09:07 wayland76 It seems most thing I want to do would best be done in perl6 :)
09:07 eiro yep
09:07 wayland76 I think everyone's at the Oslo hackathon thing

13:16 Tene zarah: tell masak to check out the sockets branch in web repo
13:16 zarah Consider it noted.
13:16 Tene zarah: thanks
13:16 zarah you're welcome, Tene :)

16:39 Tene Hmm... need to get POST support...
16:40 Tene also need a pastey name...
17:20 Tene ... oops, accidentally committed ot master
17:21 PerlJam Tene: quick!  Change history before someone pulls!  :)
17:22 Tene Oh, yay, I think I'm making the problem worse!
17:23 Tene ... we'll see how badly I screwed the repo up in a bit. :)
17:23 Tene I think I got everything back to normal.
17:26 * PerlJam pulls the web repo for the first time in a couple of weeks
17:26 Tene I was trying to keep that stuff in a branch until I got review from masak
17:27 Tene I migrated HTTP::Daemon to use parrot sockets
17:27 Tene instead of screwing with socat
17:27 PerlJam uebercool
17:27 PerlJam I thought mberends had already done that though?
17:27 Tene PERL6LIB=./lib perl6 bin/basic-demo.pl
17:27 PerlJam or did he just do the parrot sockets part?
17:27 Tene not the HTTP::Daemon in the web repository
17:28 Tene I think he just made sockets work in Parrot, oslt.
17:28 PerlJam oh, right.  I got my repos confused :)
17:28 Tene :)
17:28 Tene I also didn't see it in use on the perl6-examples repo
17:31 wayland76 mberends may also have made it work in rakudo
17:32 Tene I didn't see a Socket class there.
17:32 Tene in HTTP::Daemon, I just used a little bit of inline PIR.
17:32 wayland76 Not as a class.  Maybe there was nothing to do in Rakudo :), in which case, I'm wrong
17:32 Tene I'll get a real socket class eventually.
17:33 Tene But it works fine in rakudo currently.
17:33 Tene bbl teaching, maybe...
17:34 Tene these students aren't very interested in this last chapter.
17:35 wayland76 Tell them you will sing to them if they don't know it :)
18:03 Tene It's just on topics they don't use at work.  They wanted to leave early instead.
18:08 wayland76 Ah.  That doesn't help :)

21:51 omega I'm trying to get november (and as a dep html-template) to run, but I get the following error trying to make html-template: http://pastie.org/449183
22:05 wayland76 I'd say that if you see Carl Masak, ask him
22:05 wayland76 He may not be the right person, but he'll know who is.
