17:56 rjbs Whoops, I forgot I didn't rejoin since rebooting.
18:00 Zefram ello miss, I wish to register a complaint
18:00 Zefram about this onion
18:00 Zefram which I purchased from this very boutique not arf an hour ago
18:00 rjbs Sir, that is a potato.
18:01 rjbs Okay, I have silenced Adam Ant and can now think.
18:01 rjbs I don't think we have too too much to go over, really.
18:01 Zefram right
18:01 Zefram I'm in the middle of perldeltaing
18:01 rjbs This isn't your first rodeo and .0 has doesn't need to be the most production-worty release of the run.
18:01 Zefram yeah
18:02 rjbs Excellent.  How's that going?  Hopefully most commits came with their own deltas.
18:02 Zefram there's quite a lot of change, for a week, due to sprout having saved stuff up
18:02 rjbs Yeah.
18:02 Zefram sprout has deltaed most of his stuff
18:02 rjbs sprout's usually good at making delta stuff
18:02 rjbs good
18:02 rjbs I did very little, but remembered to delta it, even if the delta broke podcheck. :-/
18:02 Zefram I'm expecting to do the release work in the Europe/London early afternoon tomorrow
18:03 Zefram I'm intending to do it on a short-lived release branch, merging back to blead when it's done, so there's no need for a blead freeze
18:03 rjbs Since this is effectively a end-of-month meeting, I don't even have a list of topics that we should try to get resolved in this release -- but good to realize that, I'll have it ready for the next volunteer.  Some of the fixes in 5.16.0 wanted to be made more robust for the future.
18:03 rjbs Yes, that sounds great.
18:04 rjbs I haven't seen any particularly surprising black smoke, although there hasn't been much time to accumulate it.
18:04 Zefram maybe next year we should make the release branch process the norm, write it into the RMG
18:04 rjbs Definitely the case for dev branches.  The question of whether that will happen for "the big freeze" is still open.
18:05 Zefram yeah, that's a different issue
18:05 rjbs but I agree; a few releasers have done the release-branch during 5.15, even though they technically called for a code freeze, and it went well
18:05 rjbs no need to have a freeze at all for those from here out
18:05 Zefram ok
18:05 rjbs heck, if you feel energetic, update the RMG!
18:06 rjbs (or I can, but not this weekend; it's "eat innumerable hot dogs" weekend here in the states)
18:06 Zefram got one other issue: insufficient scheduled release managers
18:06 Zefram hot dogs?  is this some specific merkin holiday?
18:06 rjbs Yes!  I have a list of people to get on the stick about that.  I'm not too worried.  We have a large list to pull from, and worst case, we get to Jun 20 and I do it.
18:06 Zefram Jun 20 is doy
18:06 Zefram it's after that that we're lacking
18:06 rjbs It's Memorial Day on Monday.  We somberly celebrate our fallen soldiers with cookouts.
18:06 rjbs Oh, right-o.
18:07 rjbs and I don't want Jul 20, as I'll be (a) on a plane and (b) having a birthday
18:07 rjbs Anyway, I'll get that sorted in short order. I have a few names written down to contact first.
18:07 Zefram ah, celebrate fallen soldiers by enjoying the German food that they gave their lives to preserve?
18:07 rjbs That must be it!
18:08 Zefram ok, I think that's all we needed to discuss
18:08 rjbs I'll be in touch with doy to schedule #onionsketch-1 for June, and we'll try to pick a time when you can be there to let us know how 5.17.0 went, etc.
18:08 rjbs But yes, apart from that, I think that was the lot of it.
18:08 rjbs Thanks very much, and good luck!  I look forward to upgrading my workstation on Tuesday. :-)
