17:54 * rjbs prepares for #onionsketch by eating a key lime doughnut.
18:02 steveh rjbs: Hello! Looks like about time for #onionsketch #2
18:02 rjbs Yes!
18:02 rjbs Welcome back.
18:03 rjbs Normally we'd have 2wk between meetings, but I'm out next week so we're having them close together.
18:03 rjbs Fortunately it looks like everything is well in hand.
18:03 steveh Yep, no problems to report. Only good news :-)
18:03 rjbs For the record, Steve and I exchanged a little email about tweaking and clarifying the git tagging, merging, and pushing steps in the RMG.
18:04 rjbs I imagine they'll show up in due course, and I know they won't be Earth-shattering.
18:04 steveh Yes, I'll commit my changes later tonight
18:04 rjbs The fact that you had that question is nice, because it is evidence that you've been workng through the whole RMG in advance, which is important. :)  You say nothing problematic has occurred.  Great!
18:04 rjbs Anything interesting come up at all?
18:05 steveh We've had a few test failures - op/fork.t and re/pat.t, which Father C fixed, and lib/locale.t which Karl W fixed. Otherwise smokes are looking good.
18:06 steveh On the CPAN module front, I've now gone through all the CUSTOMIZED ones too (in cpan & under, that is)
18:06 steveh I've raised and/or commented on tickets for all of them, like I'd done last week for Modified files
18:06 rjbs Excellent.  I saw some commits on that front.
18:06 steveh I've also now changed all the current Modified files to CUSTOMIZED, but hopefully the changes will get merged upstream in due course
18:07 steveh I also listed all the CPAN RT ticket numbers in Maintainers.pl so we can keep better tabs on this
18:07 rjbs Yes, excellent.  That'd be nice.  Oh, very good, too.
18:07 rjbs Tickets are great.  :)
18:07 steveh Oh, I also reset libnet to UPSTREAM=>cpan
18:08 rjbs Oh?  That I missed.
18:08 steveh I figured I'm happy to roll new releases with anything pushed upstream, and it's tidier that way than having blead charging ahead unchecked
18:08 rjbs Cool.
18:08 rjbs (Sucker!)
18:08 steveh Yeah, I know...
18:08 steveh core-cpan-diff -a -f -x currently outputs some noise
18:08 rjbs Seems pretty stable, anyway.
18:09 steveh not sure what's up with I18N::LangTags, parent, Pod::Parser and Scalar-List-Utils, but I've queried this with Andreas
18:09 steveh maybe some PAUSE indexing is screwed up?
18:09 rjbs Hm.
18:10 steveh Not a problem for this release, anyway, just a minor irritation when checking that things are all up to date
18:10 rjbs Right.  Huh, turns out my minicpan is a bit dated, too.  Let me know if you find it's anything interesting.
18:10 steveh Will do.
18:11 rjbs The only thing I've seen that looks like it might be an outstanding problem is the work on Carp.
18:11 rjbs Andreas posted a BBC about Carp and Data::Hive and Contextual::Return
18:11 rjbs I didn't dig hard, but I think it's going to be a bug in Carp, even if only a warning needs to be surpressed.
18:11 rjbs but new warnings while carping isn't going to make anybody's day :)
18:11 steveh Oh. That one's escaped my radar. I'll have a look into it.
18:11 rjbs but hopefully TonyC will have a look, as he was doing that patch-applying
18:12 steveh AH, even better :-)
18:12 rjbs It was just posted this morning I think.  I looked because Data-Hive is mine.
18:12 rjbs Odd, my cpan mirror shows Pod::Parser-1.60, but metacpan has 1.61
18:12 steveh yes, exactly...
18:12 rjbs We had some internal discussion about it hitting issues because of conflicts between Pod;:Paragraph and Pod::paragrpah, actually.
18:12 rjbs So this may be related.
18:13 rjbs I don't know about the rest of those, though.
18:13 rjbs "internal" here means "andreas, xdg, and rjbs traded a few messages"
18:13 rjbs Sounds like everything is peachy, though, and the worst case is that we'll have a 5.19.3 that emits a few too many warnings, which should be fixed soon thereafter.
18:13 rjbs I don't know of any pending scary changes likely to land in the next week.
18:14 steveh Ok. I'll have a closer look myself, and maybe email Andreas again and/or the maintainers of the affected modules
18:14 rjbs If I'm very lucky timewise I will make some doc changes to perlexperiment and perldebguts, but... neither likely nor important at the moment.
18:14 rjbs Anything else to discuss?
18:14 steveh I'm not aware of anything scary either. I don't know how drand is going, but I've not seen it land yet
18:15 steveh The only ther thing on my list is that the release schedule still isn't filled in for 5.17.4+, but you said last time you were onto that.
18:15 rjbs Yes, I better get that sorted out in the next few days, thanks.
18:16 steveh Thats about all from me then, I think.
18:16 rjbs (Worst case, I will do it myself.  I haven't done a mid-blead release in a good while now.  But I don't think that'll happen.)
18:16 rjbs Okay!  Great.  Like I said, I'm not around much next week, but I'll check my mail daily.  I'll be in Philadelphia, so only a few blocks from the office and internet and so on.  I really can't imagine a crisis that would need *me* around, though. :)
18:17 rjbs In the meantime, good luck and have fun. :)  I look forward to installing 5.19.3 on vacation.
18:17 steveh I have no reason to believe it won't be a smooth process.
18:17 steveh Ok, have a great vacation! :-)
18:17 rjbs Thanks!  Talk to you later.
