18:58 rjbs Good eeeeevening.
18:58 steveh Hi there!
18:58 rjbs How's your day?  Mine has been packed!  But I got a really nice burger, so everything is jake.
18:59 steveh Mine's good -- over and done with! :-)
18:59 steveh And now it's the weekend :-)
18:59 rjbs \o/
18:59 rjbs Okay, so.
18:59 rjbs To anyone reading this:  this is the only #onionsketch for 5.19.4
18:59 Topic for #onionsketch is now The State of the Onion | 5.19.4 due on September 20
19:00 rjbs I will be at YAPC::Asia next week, and my schedule is totally unknown to me.
19:00 rjbs That's okay, because Steve totally knows what he is doing and has been rocking out keeping things going.  \o/ Awesome!
19:01 rjbs steveh: So!
19:01 steveh Yep, things look very well on track.
19:01 steveh Smoke reports are mostly clean, modules are nicely up to date.
19:02 rjbs We do have at least two very significant changes in this release:
19:02 steveh Even core-cpan-diff is happy this time around, thanks to Andreas for fixing a few PAUSE indexing niggles.
19:02 rjbs drand48 everywhere (!!) and pair slices (!!)
19:02 rjbs klapperl++
19:02 steveh Yep, I saw them land.
19:02 rjbs Have you had a chance to look at what documentation had landed for pair slices?  To be honest, I did not expect it to get "just merged," and have not yet done a final review of that myself.
19:03 steveh I've not looked through documentation changes yet. I plan on doing that this weekend -- and updating perldelta as appropriate to note significant changes as I go.
19:03 rjbs If there is not sufficient documentation for it (like, say, about as much as array slices) would you please be so kind as to create at ticket?
19:03 steveh Ok, sure.
19:03 rjbs I mean, document it, if you like, but otherwise make a ticket that it must be done for 5.20.0
19:03 steveh Absolutely.
19:03 rjbs Thanks.  I'd do it myself, but I'm not packed yet, etc. ;)
19:04 steveh :-)
19:04 rjbs The drand change seems to have sufficient documentation.
19:04 rjbs There was a note to p5p about someone tentatively interested in automating the "modules updated this release" section of the perldelta.
19:04 rjbs I replied; you may wish to reply if there is anything else you want to add to that, as you've done the last two releases and have it fresh in your mind.
19:05 steveh Oh? I missed totally that! WIll dig that one out. Thanks for the heads-up.
19:05 rjbs Let me double-check that it hit the list and not just me.
19:06 rjbs https://rt.perl.org/rt3/Ticket/Display.html?id=116475
19:06 rjbs I appear to have sent my reply to him rather than RT.
19:06 rjbs I'll add it to RT now.
19:07 steveh Ok, I'll have a closer look later and comment as approrpiate.
19:07 rjbs Hm, I did sent it to perlbug... I'll sort that out after.  It might be in moderation(?).
19:07 rjbs Anyway!
19:07 rjbs I have no other points to raise.
19:07 rjbs When I return from YAPC, I will likely begin work on 5.18.2, expedited.
19:07 steveh I sent a note to p5p suggesting removing the "first-come" status from Maintainers
19:07 rjbs Do you have any questions, notes, or anything else?
19:07 rjbs I did see that, thanks.
19:08 rjbs I think you had three entries, and 2 are now resolvable?
19:08 steveh Yes. There isnow  only one module set to first-come, which Leon said was no longer necessary.
19:08 rjbs Cool.
19:08 steveh So I think I will go ahead and remove first-come support from the script.
19:08 steveh (unless someone shouts otherwise very soon!)
19:09 rjbs I think that sounds good.
19:09 steveh I think that was the only thing I had to bring up. It's all looking good otherwise.
19:09 rjbs Great!
19:10 steveh I might have a crack at automating the Utils bit of the Module::CoreList update
19:10 rjbs Next month, ribasushi and I will be onionsketching on Oct 2, 10:00 EDT.
19:10 rjbs If you'd like to join us, he may have questions for you.  If you can't, no problem.
19:10 rjbs That would be good, re: Utils.  I think BinGOs was working on that, or said he'd be working on that.
19:11 rjbs So he may have code to steal.
19:11 steveh Ok, I'll make a note of that time and join you if I can. If it's not possible then you're (both) always welcome to email.
19:11 rjbs Great.
19:11 steveh Cool, I'll ping BinGOs and see what he's got :-)
19:11 rjbs Alright.  Of course let me know if anything weird comes up, but I expect things will go swimmingly, and look forward to upgrading my laptop in Japan.
19:12 rjbs maybe I'll do it on stage if my talk runs short. ;)
19:12 steveh Cool :-)
19:12 rjbs Okay, I'm off to my desk.  Thanks for your time, and good luck!
19:12 steveh Ok, thanks! Until next time...! :-)
19:15 rjbs steveh: My reply was moderated.  I have released it and it should be onthe ticket soon.
19:15 steveh Great. I will check it out.
