18:56 rjbs You can't spell "onionsketch" without "oni."

18:57 rjbs Ahoy
18:58 Abigail Hello
19:00 rjbs I'm guessing we've got another quick one today, given that no serious mangling of perl has occured in the past two weeks.
19:00 Abigail Yeah.
19:00 rjbs So:  good evening and thanks for coming.
19:00 rjbs Did you ever get that Pod issue sorted out?
19:00 Abigail No, not yet. But I'll figure it out before Friday.
19:01 Abigail Haven't had time to look at it since this weekend.
19:01 rjbs Okay!  Good luck with that.  I remember dealing with similar nasty links for those kinds of anchors in the past.
19:01 rjbs (I don't remember any silver bullet, though.)
19:01 rjbs I believe there have been no notable changes or smoke failures since we last spoke.
19:01 Abigail I don't recall seeing them either.
19:01 rjbs There have been some BBC reports, but those can be dealt with in the natural course of things.
19:02 rjbs (I do want to get on top of something to track them more automatically, though.)
19:02 rjbs Smokes look good, except for the usual suspects.
19:03 rjbs Basically, I have nothing important on my end.
19:03 rjbs Anything troubling or of note on your end of things?
19:04 Abigail Nothing here either. Working on perldelta, processed about 90% of the commits so far. Should have done 100% by the end of tonight.
19:04 Abigail Then it's just the pod issue, the changes/new modules and whatever happens in tomorrow.
19:05 rjbs Cool.  Let us know if you hit any snags with the automation.  I think it was all working well, last I heard, but sometimes things rot a bit.
19:05 rjbs In that case, I think we are done in a best-case time of five minutes!
19:05 Abigail Whee!
19:06 rjbs off-topic, I just got a copy of W. Richard Stevens' "Unix Networking Programming" and am really excited to read it! \o/
19:06 rjbs four bucks!
19:06 rjbs (my copy of APUE is still unread, because it's just too damn big)
19:06 Abigail Good find. Old edition?
19:06 rjbs Yeah, 1E.
19:07 rjbs I looked for reviews of 2E and 3E that made reference to the changes.
19:07 Abigail APUE is awesome. More valueable for Perl programming than any of the Perl books I own (about 5 feet of books)
19:07 rjbs The big turn-off of 2E was that, reportedly, it uses its own library sitting between the sockets library and the example code.
19:07 rjbs Yeah, I have APUE on your recommendation.  I just haven't *read* it yet, because it's bigger than most of my bibles.
19:08 rjbs but I have a PDF of it now, so I can probably make progress
19:08 Abigail APUE isn't a book to read cover to cover. (I never did). I just pick pieces I need/want to know more off.
19:08 rjbs yeah
19:08 rjbs I wish A-W sold more of their books as PDFs.  Too many of them are two-inch-thick hardbacks.
19:09 rjbs but on my tablet, I can sit in a comfy chair with it
19:09 Abigail I got my Stevens books for free. The company I worked for had bought them for the library, and I was the first to check them out. Then I got laid off....
19:10 rjbs Ha!  I won't tell. :)
19:10 rjbs I inherited a copy of TCP/IP v1-3, which sold me on Stevens forever.
19:10 Abigail I doubt that after 16 years, the US based company will come to be to fetch the books.
19:11 Abigail s/be/me/
19:11 rjbs They'll come to .be because they'll misremember your location and go based on domain.
19:11 Abigail ;-)
19:12 Abigail BTW, D&D on for Saturday?
19:12 rjbs Okay, it's only 14:11 here, so I should get back to $Pobox work.
19:12 rjbs Yes, I hope so!  I will be sending out a reminder today.
19:12 Abigail Excellent. Well, have fun at work.
19:13 rjbs You bet!  I'm working on Moonpig, so I will.
19:13 rjbs Talk to you later.
20:38 Abigail Oh, lovely typo :(
