19:29 sawyer steveh: Hey. :)
19:29 sawyer I apologize for the delay. I'm dealing with some medical problem and had to rest. Didn't wake up until now.
19:35 steveh Hi! Ok, no problem. Better late than never :-)
19:35 sawyer :)
19:36 sawyer So, how have you been doing preparing for the release? Any issues?
19:36 steveh Not so far, touch wood! Things are looking good. Modules are well up to date, and smokes are looking reasonably clean
19:37 sawyer steveh: Are there any additional commits you want to cherry-pick which you haven't?
19:37 sawyer (That we haven't discussed yet.)
19:37 sawyer Oh, wait, I'm confusing things. D'oh.
19:38 sawyer I intended to ask, are there any additional commits you don't have documented yet?
19:38 sawyer (I assume there are several, since that's usually nearer to the release.)
19:38 steveh perldelta is the main thing I've not addressed yet, so there are plenty of undocumented changes right now. I'll catch up on that over the next few days
19:39 sawyer Right. Always a mess. :/
19:40 steveh We usually get pretty good documentation from committers, perhaps with a little prod as the date looms :-) Then it's just a matter of mopping up the remainders.
19:41 sawyer Yeah. I always end up with several commits I need to email authors and ask about documenting.
19:41 steveh Module-CoreList is the otherthing that can be a pain, but mainly so for maint releases; it's fairly painless these days for blead
19:42 sawyer That's good.
19:42 steveh I want to run through a load of builds with different compilers and different configurations (on Windows), since I've not done many of them for quite a while, but I'm optimistic things will be ok
19:42 sawyer See if there's anything you want to change/tweak/improve/reword in the RMG. I always find something wrong with it.
19:43 steveh Yeah, I always keep notes as I'm going and will update it if necessary at the end
19:44 sawyer One change I want to make is for the generator script, to remove sections that you aren't going to go over, like remove "maint" steps for "blead point", etc.
19:47 steveh Isn't there something that does that already? I usually just read the raw document, tbh, but I should really look at using a version tailored to the release at hand
19:47 sawyer It adds notes to the document, but it keeps the sections.
19:47 steveh ah, ok
19:47 sawyer Abigail said he does the same - reads the raw document.
19:47 sawyer I'd be happy if I literally had a tick list. :)
19:48 steveh yes. mainly because that would imply the steps are all much shorter to describe :-)
19:48 sawyer Well, yeah. :)
19:50 steveh The other thing I want to do is get a new libnet release out and merged into blead. It's nothing much, but there are a couple of bug fixes sitting in my repo awaiting release, so now might be a good time
19:50 steveh Otherwise I think I'm all good for the release next Wednesday
19:50 sawyer That would be good to have early.
19:51 sawyer Alright, sounds good!
19:51 sawyer I think the next sketch we'll also cover the maint releases. We have dates for them already.
19:52 steveh Yes, ok. Same time (ish!), same place on Monday then!
19:52 sawyer Great.
19:52 sawyer I declare this onionsketch done. :)
