18:28 sawyer BinGOs: o/
18:29 BinGOs sawyer: hello
18:32 sawyer one minute
18:33 BinGOs no worries, thought Windows was going to have to reboot for moment then, just because Egypt have cancelled DST
18:34 sawyer BinGOs: Okay, I'm here.
18:34 sawyer Messy evening with the dogs.
18:35 BinGOs feeling ruff? :)
18:36 sawyer Haha yeah. :)
18:36 sawyer So, shall we begin?
18:36 BinGOs totally
18:36 sawyer * THE ONIONSKETCH COMETH *
18:36 sawyer So, I've seen a bunch of perldelta commits.
18:37 * BinGOs nods.
18:37 sawyer Do you have a lot of outstanding commits waiting for documentation?
18:37 BinGOs I have no clue until I go through your summaries
18:38 sawyer I'm happy they're of value to you. :)
18:38 sawyer I usually cover 100% unless it's something I think is not quite critical, such as a small change to the tests.
18:39 BinGOs I'll tally things up after having a read through what has been committed to the perldelta so far.
18:39 sawyer You can see the latest every day on Github.com/xsawyerx/p5p-summaries.git
18:39 sawyer However, take into account that many changes do not go through RT or the list.
18:40 sawyer Dave, Tony, Yves, Karl, and others make various changes without having a thread about it.
18:40 sawyer Those would be small things, but might include bugs they fixed that do not have an RT ticket for them.
18:41 BinGOs I have a look tomorrow (depending how explodey stuff gets at $work)
18:42 sawyer Fair enough.
18:42 BinGOs and definitely tomorrow evening
18:42 sawyer Are there any other outstanding issues you aren't sure about?
18:43 BinGOs I don't think so. I see Mr Hay has been updating modules, which is great.
18:44 sawyer Yup. :)
18:44 BinGOs ether pointed out https://github.com/dankogai/p5-encode/pull/56#issuecomment-239953774 with regards to Encode
18:44 sawyer Nice not having to do it yourself, eh? :)
18:44 sawyer Oh yes, I remmeber. I also thought of it.
18:45 BinGOs fix has been merged I see
18:46 sawyer The security issue wasn't merged yet.
18:47 sawyer If the security issue is also resolved before you release, I would add it. Otherwise, we might have to wait and *not* include the version that included the original PR that added the problems (56).
18:49 BinGOs that would 2.85 from what I can tell.
18:50 sawyer Hmm...
18:50 sawyer We have 2.86 in blead.
18:51 sawyer We have several options: 1. revert to 2.85, knowing it doesn't have either of those problems. 2. Merge it with one issue fixed (but the security issue remaining), and 3. If the security issue fixed as well by then, merge it with.
18:52 sawyer If this was near freeze, I would have said revert. But since it's a dev release on a non-freeze state... I wouldn't worry too much.
18:52 BinGOs what I meant by 2.85 was that it was the version that included the original PR (aka #56)
18:52 BinGOs which would mean reverting to 2.84
18:53 sawyer Ah yes. Then s/2.85/2.84/ on my statement.
18:53 BinGOs Yeah :)
18:55 sawyer Sounds good?
18:56 BinGOs this is slightly dependent on Dan fixing it and doing a 2.87 before Saturday
18:57 BinGOs and rolling back to 2.84, means I have to restore the core modifications for CVE-wot-sit
18:57 sawyer First on pali introducing a fix.
18:57 sawyer wot-sit?
18:57 sawyer 2016-1238 ?
18:57 BinGOs yeah
18:57 sawyer (I wrote it so many times...)
18:58 sawyer We'll have to see what happen, but I think reverting the CVE fix would be more annoying than having a version of Encode that still has two bugs in a development version.
19:00 BinGOs I shall go to my happy place and hope for the best.
19:00 sawyer The worse here is not that bad. It's still a dev release. We're not talking stable here or even freeze state.
19:00 sawyer We will prevail. :)
19:01 BinGOs its only .4, we have plenty of time to really fuck things up
19:01 sawyer Exactly. :)
19:02 sawyer I have a patch that breaks a bunch of tests. Once I clear the tests, I'll submit it. :)
19:04 sawyer BinGOs: khw suggests making customized changes to Encode.
19:04 * BinGOs nods.
19:04 sawyer khw: That would be great. Thank you.
19:05 khw pali asked for a review of his patch a month ago, and it fell off my radar, so in some sense I'm responsible in part
19:06 khw or feel somewhat responsible, anyway
19:06 sawyer It's all good.
19:07 sawyer If this gives a reason to do it and it's done, that's what matters.
19:08 sawyer BinGOs: Any additional pending issues?
19:09 BinGOs I'll be looking at Saturday evening/late evening (my time) to really get release rolling.
19:09 BinGOs I can't think of anything off-hand
19:09 sawyer Alright sounds good.
19:10 BinGOs when are v5.22.3 and v5.24.1 coming out?
19:10 sawyer I'll probably be home all day long, so I'll keep my eye on IRC if I can help with anything.
19:10 sawyer Ping me on email if I don't respond on IRC. I get phone notification for emails.
19:10 sawyer 5.22.3 and 5.24.1 await a decision about ribasushi's patch to base.pm.
19:11 sawyer If no one objects, I will ask to merge it over the weekend at the latest.
19:11 BinGOs okay. so business as usual with Module-CoreList
19:11 sawyer Tests have been run against the patch and it seems solid.
19:14 sawyer So, are we done?
19:15 BinGOs I believe so.
19:15 sawyer Alright then.
19:15 sawyer Have a good evening. :)
19:15 BinGOs and you
19:17 sawyer Err.. can't -v myself. :/
