03:13 vsubrama1 Hey, I am trying to set certain attribute to authmodule as mentioned in the comment of http://bugster.forgerock.org/jira/browse/OPENAM-3428
03:14 vsubrama1 is ssoadm subcommand, add-attr-defs..correct choice for doing that ?
03:45 vsubrama1 metadaddy: can you give some pointers for setting the attributes mentioned in http://bugster.forgerock.org/jira/browse/OPENAM-3428

10:48 jeevanus hi
10:48 jeevanus http://localhost:8080/openam/ is not opening
10:48 jeevanus can some one help?
10:49 asyd off course, it's easy for us to know what you did before
10:51 jeevanus I installed tomcat
10:51 jeevanus then followed this steps http://codedecoder.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/installing-openam-on-ubuntu/
10:52 balo jeevanus: first, you should use fqdn. second, there is an official install guide: http://docs.forgerock.org/en/openam/11.0.0/install-guide/index.html
10:53 jeevanus ok
10:55 jeevanus I am using linux ubuntu
10:55 jeevanus how to configure fqdn in ubuntu?
10:56 balo read the install guide pls
10:56 balo it's right in there
10:56 balo first paragraph or sg like this
10:57 jeevanus ok
11:04 jeevanus balo: if i dont have a domain name, cant i configure fdqn and eventually openam ?
11:05 jeevanus balo: I have made this
11:05 jeevanus http://paste.ubuntu.com/7067032/
11:06 balo just use openam.example.com
11:06 balo write it after localhost for example
11:07 jeevanus like this: 127.0.0.1openam.example.com
11:07 jeevanus ?
11:09 jeevanus I simply can't get this :(
11:13 jeevanus I think its working
11:13 jeevanus in browser when I go like openam.example.com
11:13 jeevanus something is opening
11:18 balo :)
11:19 jeevanus but openam.example.com:8080/openam
11:19 jeevanus not working
11:19 jeevanus how to check if fdqn is properly set?
11:22 balo ping itű
11:22 balo
11:22 balo you should see responses from the local ip
11:23 jeevanus ok
11:23 jeevanus ping openam.example.com ?
11:23 jeevanus yes I am seeing local ip
11:24 jeevanus now I have put OpenAM package which is downloaded inside tomcat webapps
11:24 jeevanus it must come as openam.example.com/openam right?
11:24 jeevanus as per http://codedecoder.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/installing-openam-on-ubuntu/
11:24 jeevanus but it isnt
11:26 balo http://docs.forgerock.org/en/openam/11.0.0/install-guide/index.html#deploy-openam
11:35 MegaMatt What did you name the war file?
11:35 jeevanus i have no  .war file, its a.zip file which i downloaded
11:35 jeevanus i think i downloaded the wrong file, is it?
11:36 MegaMatt There's probably a war in the .zip
11:36 MegaMatt Or a few war files
11:36 MegaMatt Probably best to follow the docs, as Balo posted
11:36 MegaMatt You'll need to rename the correct war that you want to deploy to whatever URI you want it deployed as
11:37 jeevanus ok
11:37 MegaMatt From the link that you posted
11:37 MegaMatt You need to carefully read step 2
11:37 MegaMatt Where they download, extract, and rename
11:38 MegaMatt And then step 3 they use the renamed war file to deploy into the container
11:38 MegaMatt But I don't like the instructions from your blog post there
11:38 jeevanus ok
11:38 MegaMatt Step 4 is bad, you shouldn't have to open up the folder to 777 permissions
11:39 MegaMatt You should be careful with permissions and who owns what though, that can cause problems
11:39 jeevanus I ll try
11:39 MegaMatt It matters what user is running the tomcat contianer and which user owns the openam config files that get generated
11:39 MegaMatt So.. yeah, follow the real installation instructions and you should be fine
11:39 jeevanus thank you
12:14 jeevanus I have come until http://docs.forgerock.org/en/openam/11.0.0/install-guide/index.html#deploy-openam
12:14 jeevanus this isnt working http://openam.example.com:8080/openam/
12:15 jeevanus description The requested resource (/openam/) is not available.
12:15 MegaMatt So you deployed as openam ?
12:15 jeevanus which is in Procedure 2.1. To Deploy OpenAM
12:15 jeevanus yes I did
12:16 jeevanus tarnea@tarnea-Vostro-270s:/var/lib/tomcat7/webapps$ ls openam  openam.war  ROOT
12:16 jeevanus openam.war is there
12:16 MegaMatt hmm yes, that is odd .. it should see it then
12:16 MegaMatt restart your tomcat just to see what it does
12:17 jeevanus ok
12:17 MegaMatt oh
12:17 MegaMatt and what are the file permissions on that .war?
12:17 MegaMatt and what user is running tomcat?
12:18 jeevanus chmod 777
12:18 MegaMatt k
12:19 jeevanus restarted
12:19 jeevanus not change
12:19 balo and you should check the logs of tomcat. probably it will tell you what is the problem
12:19 jeevanus ok
12:20 MegaMatt yeah now that it's restarted, what's in the log from startup?
12:21 jeevanus One of the final steps in log says - INFO: Deploying web application archive /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/openam.war
12:21 jeevanus in catalina.2014-03-10.log
12:23 jeevanus http://paste.ubuntu.com/7067332/
12:27 jeevanus anything else i might have did wrong?
12:28 MegaMatt Well, something is up with your TC if you go to your /openam/ uri and it doesn't report it as there
12:30 jeevanus http://s28.postimg.org/h3gp5be0s/Screenshot_from_2014_03_10_17_59_20.jpg
12:32 MegaMatt Can you deploy anything else?
12:33 MegaMatt try deploying some sample helloworld war file or something
12:33 jeevanus sure
12:34 balo SEVERE: The web application [/OpenAM-11.0.0] appears to have started a thr
12:35 balo you didn't rename the war as we said...
12:35 balo Deploying web application archive /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/OpenAM-11.0.0.war
12:35 balo i won't help anymore, sorry. RTFM
12:35 jeevanus balo: thank you
12:36 jeevanus MegaMatt: https://code.google.com/p/web-actions/downloads/detail?name=helloworld.war I tried this, it isnt working
12:36 jeevanus sorry, it is working***
12:36 jeevanus (IT IS) not (IT ISNT)
12:36 jeevanus tarnea@tarnea-Vostro-270s:/var/lib/tomcat7/webapps$ ls helloworld  helloworld.war  openam  openam.war  ROOT
12:37 jeevanus only openam.war isn't
12:41 balo jeevanus: you can try to download tomcat from its page and use it from your home folder
12:41 balo it can solve the permission issues at least
12:41 jeevanus okay
12:42 balo ofc shutdown the version you are using now
12:42 balo service tomcat stop
12:42 balo or tomcat7
12:43 jeevanus tomcat7
12:44 jeevanus stopped
12:44 balo and you can start your downloaded version with bin/start.sh iirc
12:44 jeevanus ll try to download it
14:12 jeevanus working, thank you all
14:14 MegaMatt Wonder what the issue was with your other TC server
14:14 MegaMatt must be permissions
14:14 jeevanus I think its the linux default tomcat made the issue
14:14 asyd default tomcat? from ? package?
14:14 MegaMatt Certainly possible
14:14 jeevanus asyd: apt
14:15 asyd very bad idead imho to use java stuff packaged by distro
14:15 jeevanus is ldap preconfigured in OpenAM?
14:15 jeevanus or I need to configure it?
14:15 MegaMatt ldap what?
14:15 asyd unless you know exactly what you're doing
14:15 MegaMatt You can use the internal OpenDJ for config and user store if you're evaling the product
14:15 MegaMatt So you don't need to configure an external ldap
14:16 jeevanus I have a SSO and
14:16 jeevanus I need to communicate to the server via SAML
14:17 jeevanus and the server need to store the information which came from SAML using LDAP
14:17 jeevanus when the user request, LDAP need to respond via SAML
14:17 jeevanus thats what I am aiming to do
14:18 jeevanus hey guys, I will be back in this community, now leaving for a while. bye... thanks for your help.
14:19 jeevanus Bye
15:13 vsubrama1 joined #openam
17:13 vsubrama1 I am trying to build Openam 10.1 XPress from source..
17:13 vsubrama1 i am facing with the error "Failed to execute goal com.google.code.maven-svn-revision-number-plugin:maven-svn-revision-number-plugin:1.6:revision (default) on project openam: svn: The path '/home/vsubrama/work/openam/OpenAM-XPress/10.1.0-Xpress' appears to be part of a Subversion 1.7 or greater"
17:13 vsubrama1 svn --version
17:13 vsubrama1 svn, version 1.7.11 (r1503888)
17:13 vsubrama1 compiled Aug 20 2013, 18:08:13
17:13 MegaMatt yeah, you have to use an older svn
17:14 vsubrama1 which svn is pointing to version 1.7.11
17:14 MegaMatt You need to downgrade
17:14 MegaMatt You need to use svn 1.6 and check out wiht that, yours is too new
17:14 vsubrama1 ya i tried that too..
17:15 vsubrama1 usr/bin/svn co https://svn.forgerock.org/openam/tags/10.1.0-Xpress/
17:15 vsubrama1 svn: The path '10.1.0-Xpress' appears to be part of a Subversion 1.7 or greater
17:15 vsubrama1 working copy rooted at '/home/vsubrama/work/openam'.
17:15 vsubrama1 Please upgrade your Subversion client to use this working copy.
17:15 MegaMatt You need to do the check out with 1.6 svn
17:16 MegaMatt You already checked it out with a newer svn
17:16 MegaMatt That's what that error is saying
17:16 MegaMatt so delete your current check out, and check it out with 1.6 svn
17:16 vsubrama1 i swear i deleted and i tried.. but I am going to try once again
17:17 MegaMatt show /usr/bin/svn --version
17:17 MegaMatt make sure it's not 1.7
17:17 vsubrama1 usr/bin/svn --version
17:17 vsubrama1 svn, version 1.6.11 (r934486)
17:17 vsubrama1 compiled May 31 2011, 05:46:33
17:17 MegaMatt k
17:19 vsubrama1 its still checking out.. will do compilation once that is done..
17:24 vsubrama1 hmm looks like its proceeding further..
17:24 vsubrama1 i am checking what is the difference btween the previous procedure and current
18:03 vsubrama1 hmm i got that.. though i checked out OpenAM10.1 using svn1.6 the parent directory is another svn dir.. checkedout using 1.7
