02:48 Topic for #openam is now Chat about the OpenAM project - https://backstage.forgerock.com/#/downloads - OpenAM 13.5.0 is out! OpenAM 12.0.4 is out! Channel logs at: http://irclog.perlgeek.de/openam/today
03:51 jelmd BTW: replaced JVM arg -Xmx2g with -Xmx4g -> seems, that now at least default config/setup succeeds. However, now */openam/ redirec ts to */openam/XUI/#login/ and does nothing but showing ‘Loading …’ - wiered
06:48 aldaris joined #openam
07:05 jjpp jelmd: you could try /openam/console/
07:07 jelmd same thing - redirects to the */XUI/#login/ + some add. params
07:10 aldaris jjpp mergeall debug logs are only helpful if you are new to AM. I've found that having separate logs is actually more helpful when it comes to debugging :p
07:10 aldaris jelmd, so did the config finish?
07:11 jelmd yepp.
07:12 aldaris you can get rid of the .openamcfg directory after successful configuration btw, just set -Dcom.sun.identity.configuration.directory=/path/to/openam/config/dir
07:12 aldaris alright, so what happens if you access openam in a private browsing window then?
07:12 jelmd ah ok
07:13 jjpp aldaris: yes and no. we turned them on at some point to lessen the amount of logrotating. and sometimes it is actually helpful to see things linearly :)
07:13 jelmd “private browsing window”?
07:13 jjpp without cookies or other stuff. "incognito mode" etc as it is sometimes called
07:14 aldaris jjpp: only if you are newbie :)
07:15 jjpp aldaris: or lazy, like me. but yes, it is a bit of a tradeoff.. between a lot of log with little relevant lines. and possibility that something relevant is in some other file and under the radar..
07:15 jelmd same thing with “private browsing …”
07:15 aldaris it becomes especially messy if it's from production, with a single user session it can make things simpler
07:16 aldaris jelmd: open browser dev console then (preferably with Chrome)
07:17 jelmd same thing (Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit))
07:17 jelmd FF is 45.x
07:17 aldaris and what do you see on the console?
07:19 jelmd just ‘Loading’ in the upper left corner and the ‘info@forgerock…’ footer at the bottom. Everything else is plain white .
07:20 jelmd When I shit+reload, something else “flashes” for a very short time - perhaps a loading animation. However, to short to really see, what it is.
07:22 jelmd actually I would expect some info in logs/catalina.out  - but no hint there.
07:24 aldaris — I'm still waiting for browser console output..
07:32 jelmd http://pastebin.com/BHn5sAYh (chrome)
07:32 aldaris open the network tab then
07:33 aldaris and check out the response you got from json/authenticate
07:34 jelmd empty  (Status code: 500)
07:35 aldaris Content-Length: 0?
07:35 jelmd in the request header, yes. not show in the response
07:36 aldaris do you see anything in the Authentication debug log?
07:36 jelmd filename ?
07:37 aldaris did you set the mergeall and the other debug JVM properties suggested before?
07:37 jelmd no, not yet. just the *=message
07:38 aldaris then /path/to/openam/config/deployment-uri/debug/Authentication
07:39 jelmd could it be ./openam/openam/debug/Authentication as well?
07:39 aldaris that should be it
07:44 jelmd no obvios error or stack trace except a ‘LoginContext.invoke(): Handling expected java.lang.Error’ … ‘Caught error returned from DSAMEHandler’
07:44 aldaris yeah, that's all expected
07:45 aldaris and nothing shows up in catalina.log or localhost*.log?
07:45 jelmd last line is ‘amAuthClientUtils:02/10/2017 08:33:42:210 AM CET: Thread[http-nio-8080-exec-10,5,main]: TransactionId[bf9fdf1a-8f3f-4f2b-8f7a-8597f49f02b9-267]
07:45 jelmd retVal is : true’
07:45 jelmd checking again
07:47 jelmd catalina.out’s last line: 10-Feb-2017 08:30:27.376 INFO [main] org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina.start Server startup in 21827 ms
07:47 jelmd localhost.*.log is empty
07:49 jelmd access.log: 107.170.207.232 [10/Feb/2017:08:42:41 +0100] 73 23 - 405 "GET /openam/json/authenticate? HTTP/1.1" "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0b; Windows NT 6.0)"
08:05 jelmd hmm, need a take a nap/recharge my batteries. Thanx so far 4your hints! Coming back later ;-)

11:07 jjpp aldaris: with daui and old sdk, whenever daui landed on some node that was not owning the related session, the request was forwarded to the correct node (or at least it was attempted if the other node was alive?). is this not the case with json/authenticate any more?
11:08 aldaris openam-8336
11:10 jjpp hm. bad.
11:11 * jjpp thinks . o O ( although your ability to give out jira numbers is like the old anecdote about inmates who already know all the jokes and it is enough to say "8" to get everyone laughing.. :) )

18:34 jelmd Hmmm - ready to rumble ;-) Just tried the original aka forgerock compiled/assembled OpenAM-13.0.0.war - same problem (so for now I exclude local build as possible POF)
