14:44 FireBurn|Work Hi, any news on the next version of OpenAM (or it's successor)
14:45 asyd :)
14:45 aldaris https://forum.forgerock.com/topic/community-edition/
14:45 aldaris this is the best I can offer
14:51 FireBurn|Work Hmm
14:51 FireBurn|Work Does that mean the only version that's now available is 13?
14:51 FireBurn|Work Sorry 11.0.3
14:51 aldaris 11.0.3 is available on github, yes
14:52 aldaris 13.0.0 can be found in the openam-public repositories too
14:52 MegaMatt And you can evaluate 5.0
14:59 FireBurn|Work Does that mean the code is avaialable for 5?
14:59 asyd "evaluate"
15:00 aldaris no, source code is not available for 5.0 I'm afraid
15:00 MegaMatt No, only the code that is licensed under the old license is available for 5.0 iirc
15:01 MegaMatt “If you would like to request access to the open source code contained in the ForgeRock Identity Platform 5.0, please send an email to oss@forgerock.com”
15:01 aldaris and even then you can only request the CDDL code that makes 5.0 if you receive the 5.0 evaluation version
15:01 aldaris since CDDL only forces to provide source IF the binary has been provided
15:01 FireBurn|Work That sounds very complicated
15:01 MegaMatt Ah yes, that makes sense
15:02 FireBurn|Work And I'm guessing 5.0 won't build without dependencies locked away to - bit like what's happening with 13
15:02 MegaMatt So if you have a 5.0 binary, you can request only the CDDL code that is included in that binary — which I suspect will look very much like the 13.0.0 code that’s out there ;)
15:02 asyd I guess same thing will happen to opendj ?
15:02 aldaris so by requesting 5.0's CDDL source code you will get a big chunk of CDDL source that you can't compile, since the FR licensed code will be missing
15:02 aldaris 13.0.0 can now be compiled - we are full CDDL compliant there
15:02 MegaMatt Right, the CDDL code won’t even be a full product anymore
15:03 aldaris see my twitter account for links to shell scripts

15:29 FireBurn|Work Is your twitter the same as your handle on here/
15:30 MegaMatt No, I believe he’s https://twitter.com/majorpetya
15:30 MegaMatt https://twitter.com/majorpetya/status/849171749015105537
15:47 FireBurn|Work No implementation for org.forgerock.openam.notifications.NotificationBroker - can't even create a new realm with ssoadm
15:48 aldaris with which version?
15:50 FireBurn|Work The evaluation 5.0.0
15:50 FireBurn|Work Or 14
15:50 aldaris I would normally ask you to raise a bug in JIRA
15:50 aldaris but well, community members are no longer allowed to create issues in JIRA
15:51 MegaMatt Use amster?
15:53 FireBurn|Work Turns out it created the realm but it still errored
15:56 FireBurn|Work Is using ssoadm the best way to automate setting up OpenAM? I've had nothing but bother with it with both 13 and 5/14
16:02 MegaMatt Use Amster instead imo
16:02 MegaMatt for 5.0
16:02 FireBurn|Work Which version of java should I be running 5/14 on WebSphere? I had to use 1.7 with 13

16:02 MegaMatt Should be in the release notes
16:04 MegaMatt IBM WebSphere8.5.5.8+
16:04 MegaMatt IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition (Websphere only)7
16:09 FireBurn|Work That's what I was using
16:09 FireBurn|Work Logs full of errors, nodeagents have even fallen over

18:23 jjpp hmyeah. can you (the fr people:) comment on why the 11 was chosen as a base for community? 13 had too much refactorings you ("someone":) wanted to relicense? the 11 is full of apis that were deprecated and partly replaced already in 13.. having something closer to your commercial version would have increased the probability of reusable patches?
18:24 jjpp or was the 13 decided to be too fragile/with not mature enough refactorings?
18:31 MegaMatt I have my own thoughts as to why I think they picked 11, but I don’t know if they are true or not.
18:32 aldaris same here
18:57 jjpp care to share? :)
18:58 jjpp is there something we should be scared of, considering that our local instance of 13 will probably go to production in a week.. ? :)
18:59 MegaMatt No.. I don’t think it’s that, personally
18:59 MegaMatt I’m a fan of 13.5
19:01 jjpp i haven't seen that one my self. it is probably a bit better than 13 was/is, I guess..
19:04 aldaris 13.5.1 will be awesome, but that's true always.. The latest versions of a maintenance tree is always the most stable
19:11 jjpp how big an organization FR is and how big is the subset that makes those hard-to-explain decisions, btw? :)
19:13 MegaMatt According to Wikipedia: Number of employees 150+ (2013) — I know that we’ve been hiring like crazy since then, so that number is certianly very out dated.
