13:17 ssb0 hi's
13:18 ssb0 Im trying to draw lines within the contours of a character. pretty close now using: .getOutline()[k].getVertices()[i], but the problem is ths only gives me vertices of the points where the direction of the contour of the outline changes
13:18 ssb0 so it doesnt give points for straight lines in a character
13:18 ssb0 any idea how to solve this?

13:40 seb_ly ssb0: I haven't used ofPath much but I suspect you're only getting the end points of a bunch of bezier curves
13:41 seb_ly ssb0:  (I assume you're using ofPath, right?)
13:45 denandreas maybe going out on a limb here, but wouldn't the correct way to get the outlines (and data about them) be with using polylines?
13:46 denandreas at least it's what i've done recently when working with imported svg-shapes. stored the outlines in a vector<ofPolyline>
13:47 seb_ly ofPath.getOutline returns a vector of polyLines I think.
13:47 denandreas yeah thats correct
13:50 seb_ly yeah so presumably you could just iterate through the polyLines to get the point data ssb0:
13:51 denandreas would probably be better to store the vector returned by .getOutline() in its own variable, so you can iterate through that vector, ssb0

14:10 ssb0 thnks guys, but bad internet connection kicked me off. is there a log somewhere? last line i got was : <seb_ly> yeah so presumably you could just iterate through the polyLines to get the point data ssb0:

14:11 seb_ly i tried posting the conversation but got kicked off for flooding :)
14:12 ssb0 hehe thanks :)
14:12 ssb0 pastebin maybe?
14:12 denandreas http://glui.me/?i=i11bpj2wl5xnzeb/2013-08-15_at_16.12_.png/
14:13 denandreas not pastebin, but a screenshot of it :P
14:13 ssb0 thanks
14:14 ssb0 there was nothing after i got kicked of? or doesn't my internet connection load the full png?
14:14 denandreas nope, that was it!
14:15 ssb0 okay
14:15 ssb0 :)
14:15 ssb0 so if i understand correctly the vector returned by getOutlines() should also have points in the parts where there are only straight lines?
14:16 denandreas yes
14:17 ssb0 ok i'm going to give it a try
14:17 denandreas check the example for how you work with svg-files, there's a good example of how you loop through polyline data in it!
14:17 ssb0 thanks again!
14:17 ssb0 okay will do

20:43 ssb0 hi's. earlier today i asked about getting vertices for straight lines in a ofPolyLine extracted from a string
20:45 ssb0 i was told the ofPolyLine should contain vertices for the straight lines in the character, but it only contains vertices for the ends of bezier curves
20:45 ssb0 any idea how to get (or add)  vertices for the straight lines too?
21:04 ssb0 is there an alternative for ofTrueTypeFont's .getCharacterAsPoints method?
