17:18 admsyn hi all
17:18 kylemcd hi!
17:18 admsyn how's the documentation drive going?
17:18 kylemcd so far it's just be and jdahan :)
17:18 kylemcd hopefully some more people will show up
17:18 kylemcd i got a ton of snacks
17:18 admsyn haha
17:19 admsyn anything need more eyes? I'm doing a thing right now but I could throw in a half hour or so if necessary
17:19 kylemcd that would be great
17:25 admsyn are you guys working out of a pirate pad or google doc or whatever?
17:29 kylemcd not yet, just talking in person
17:29 kylemcd ok here http://piratepad.net/of-doc-drive
17:30 kylemcd we'll take notes about what we want to work on
17:30 kylemcd / what we're working on

17:35 Topic for #openframeworks is now Welcome to http://openframeworks.cc/ - Documentation drive today, Sept 14 (participate here http://piratepad.net/of-doc-drive) - logs at http://irclog.perlgeek.de/openframeworks/
17:35 kylemcd admsyn there's some a few things in http://www.openframeworks.cc/documentation/sound/ofSoundPlayer.html that are still missing
17:36 kylemcd and ofSoundStream is completely undocumented except the main / overall documentation
17:36 admsyn cool, I'll take a look
17:36 admsyn fwiw the sound buffer / sound object / sound file are well documented :)
17:36 admsyn in the inline /// doxygen way
17:36 kylemcd ah nice
17:37 kylemcd so we just need to pull those into the general reference pages
17:39 kylemcd http://piratepad.net/of-doc-drive
17:39 kylemcd that's for dan :)

18:00 admsyn so is the proper workflow to go to e.g. https://github.com/openframeworks/ofSite/blob/master/_documentation/sound/ofSoundPlayer.markdown and click edit?
18:01 kylemcd yes, you can do that, or you can fork and edit locally
18:01 kylemcd either are acceptable
18:22 admsyn is there a way to just not show certain functions?
18:22 admsyn there's a few global sound player functions that are just FMOD implementation details that probably shouldn't ever be called by a regular user
18:23 admsyn e.g. ofSoundUpdate()
18:25 jacres joined #openframeworks
18:26 kylemcd hmm
18:27 kylemcd i think you can mark it hidden or something
18:27 kylemcd in the markdown
18:27 kylemcd _visible: True_
18:27 kylemcd i think if you change that to
18:28 kylemcd _visible: False_
18:28 kylemcd then the method/function should be hidde
18:28 admsyn cool, thanks :)

19:13 admsyn is ofFloatColor doing something weird in operator= or the copy constructor? I'm getting weird deadlocks when calling vector<ofFloatColor>::erase
19:13 admsyn and the stack trace is something deep in std::__copy with the offending line in ofColor_<float>::operator=
19:21 kylemcd joined #openframeworks
19:22 kylemcd huh can you post a minimal example of it breaking?
19:25 admsyn yupp just a moment
19:27 admsyn I have a feeling it's more to do with my threading / queue setup than anything else, but I'm erasing a couple vector<ofVec2f>s at the same time and it always seems to deadlock on the vector<ofFloatColor>
19:27 admsyn actually I figured it out, I was trying to erase more elements than there were
19:28 admsyn is the .erase() supposed to be copying elements around though?
19:31 kylemcd lots of things that modify a vector tend to make copies of things too
19:31 kylemcd vectors get reallocated very often

21:09 workergnome Hi there—I've got an hour or so to kill if there are things I can be useful with

21:21 workergnome As far as I can tell, in _templates/documentation_function.mako and documentation_var.mako, the line <%self:filter chain="syntax_highlight,markdown_template"> shouldn't have "syntax_highlight," in it.   I can't find anywhere where the server-side syntax formatting is actually used.  Is that accurate?
21:22 admsyn joined #openframeworks
21:23 kylemcd heyyy workergnome
21:23 kylemcd sorry just saw your msg
21:23 workergnome No worries
21:24 kylemcd i'm not sure about server-side highlighting
21:24 kylemcd do we have a custom one
21:24 workergnome I've been trying to figure it out for a while—it uses   $$code  to indicate that something's code.
21:25 workergnome the javascript one, and all the documentation, uses ~~~~{.cpp}
21:25 workergnome There are a couple scripts that convert

blocks into $$code formatting, but I can't find any
blocks anywhere, either
21:26 workergnome Either way, the <%self:filter chain="syntax_highlight,markdown_template"> should either appear in the documentation_method.mako, or should be removed from the documentation_function.mako and documentation_var.mako.
21:26 kylemcd yeah i was just looking at syntax_highlight.py and i don't see anything
21:27 kylemcd i think you're right
21:27 kylemcd can you remove syntax_highlight from that line
21:27 kylemcd and remove the syntax_highlight.py file
21:27 workergnome Will do.

21:56 workergnome As far as I can tell, issues #55, #56, and #96 are closed.   I might try and tackle #112 next?
21:59 kylemcd let me check one sec
21:59 kylemcd man you're a machine
21:59 workergnome Well, I'm picking easy ones.
22:00 kylemcd yeah go for it
22:00 kylemcd 112 looks good
22:02 kylemcd david i just added you as a collaborator on the ofSite repo
22:03 workergnome Well, thanks!  What's the protocol for that?
22:03 kylemcd feel free to assign yourself to issues you want to tackle, merge anything you're confident about, and close issues :)
22:03 kylemcd everything you've done so far has been solid
22:04 kylemcd if there's something you're not sure about, or a major change you want to make, it should still be made into a PR -- but for everything else just go for it
22:05 workergnome Works for me.  Thank you.

22:14 workergnome Is there a reason that constructors are missing from the documentation?
22:16 kylemcd joined #openframeworks
22:17 kylemcd hmm good question
22:17 kylemcd yeah that's strange because ofFile(string filename) should be shown, for example
