10:14 roxlu_ hi guys did OF 0.8 drop support for osx 10.6 ?
10:16 roxlu_ (I'm getting a similar err: http://forum.openframeworks.cc/index.php?topic=11865.0 )

13:03 vamoss Good morning
13:04 vamoss I have to draw a circle with 500x500... Do you know what is faster? A FBO, an Image or an ofCircle?
13:05 vamoss In my tests a FBO ran faster.

13:40 jacres vamoss: does the circle ever change?
13:40 jacres or can it be fixed like an image
13:41 vamoss yes, it grows
13:56 jacres an ofImage will just be a texture that you draw to a screen, or you can also draw it to an FBO (which you can think of as an off-screen texture)
13:56 jacres You can then display the FBO on the screen
13:56 jacres there won't be much benefit that I can think of in your case (without knowing more about it) to use an FBO
13:57 jacres They are mainly used so you can draw many things to a single image/texture and do something to that final composited image such as post-processing - e.g. blur
13:58 jacres if you load an image of a circle, you can scale it and draw it at different sizes, but you're going to be limited by the resolution of the image
13:59 jacres I'd just use ofCircle, however, instead of drawing it with a new size each time, try using ofScale( scaleValue ) before drawing it
14:02 jacres ah, nevermind about that last comment... I think every time you call ofCircle, the vertices are recalculated
14:03 jacres either way, I don't think you'll notice much performance problems from calling it repeatedly at different sizes, even with many circles
14:04 jacres if you ultimately want geometry for your circle and want to avoid having the vertices recalculated every frame, you can create an ofVbo object with the circle defined as a triangle fan and then use ofScale to adjust the scale before drawing the VBO
15:02 vamoss Thanks jacres! Great points, I will consider it!

18:13 admsyn jvcleave: does the asus xtion config need to stick to certain resolutions?
18:13 admsyn I'm trying to do 160 x 120 and it's saying the config file is invalid..

19:48 admsyn whar
19:48 admsyn I'm using ofxCv::Flow and I'm getting lots of NaN..anyone else seen this?
19:48 admsyn i.e. flow.getTotalFlow() == (nan, nan)
19:55 GuidovanPossum should it be flow.getTotalFlow() == (nyan, nyan, cat)

20:16 vamoss Hi, I am learning to work with VBO, and the OF examples doesnt explain well how to work with it.
20:16 vamoss I would like to cach a circle in a VBO, is it possible?
20:21 admsyn vamoss: yepp that's possible
20:21 admsyn you can think of a VBO as a thing that stores a bunch of vertices on the GPU
20:22 admsyn so, you can store a bunch of points, and tell oF to render them as points, lines, triangles, etc
20:22 admsyn usually you would store a circle as a "triangle fan"
20:22 vamoss yes, this part I understand
20:22 admsyn googling GL_TRIANGLE_FAN will show you how that works
20:22 vamoss I created a list of vertices, and call addVertices
20:23 vamoss but I am trying to figure out how to draw it
20:23 vamoss I am trying to do with a ofVboMesh
20:23 admsyn it would be something like vbo.draw(drawMode, 0, vertsToDraw);
20:23 admsyn oh, it might be easier to start with ofVbo, unless you need something from ofMesh
20:24 vamoss ok, will try ofVbo
20:25 admsyn there's a decent example, vboExample, that'll show you how to use it
20:25 vamoss in this example it shows only cloning the data from a ofMesh
20:25 admsyn once you have an ofVbo working, you can start with ofVboMesh and just tell it to use the ofVbo you already have working
20:25 vamoss I am trying to store the values direct in the ofVbo
20:26 admsyn oh yeah, I must be thinking of a different example :/
20:26 vamoss I will try something here, thanks for the tips
20:27 admsyn good luck, if you're running into problems post your code here (with pastebin or something like that) and it'll be a bit easier to figure out what's wrong
20:27 vamoss ok :)
20:27 vamoss who is talking?
20:27 admsyn ?
20:28 vamoss what is your name? heheh
20:28 admsyn ah :) I'm Adam
20:28 vamoss thank Adam, I am Carlos
20:28 admsyn nice to meet you :)
