18:41 fossterer Hello! I am trying to run an app written in v_007_prerelease in v_008. I get the 'tesselator.h' not found...
18:42 jvcleave The_Fly: the way I have done it is to setWindowPosition(1280, 0);  ofToggleFullscreen();
18:42 fossterer Is its location modified?
18:42 jvcleave ofSetWindowPosition(1280) that is
19:16 fossterer Is someone here?

19:45 fossterer hello!
19:55 The_Fly jvcleave: i was going to, but then i need to know the positioning of the projector's desktop
19:55 The_Fly for now that will work seeing as i know (or can query) my screen resolution
19:55 The_Fly but assumes i've put projector over on the right
19:56 The_Fly am thinking this might be a pain cross-platform
19:58 The_Fly oh and, was wondering about any work done to share ogl context among multiple app windows?
19:58 The_Fly ah i see https://github.com/underdoeg/ofxFenster
20:06 fossterer hello! I am moving a project written in 007_pre_release to 008. Should I be wary of any path changes?
20:10 liamstask joined #openframeworks
20:19 fossterer references for tesselator.h and many such rearranged files seems not updated in header files. Did I get something wrong?
20:19 jvcleave fossterer: did you try rebuilding the project?
20:20 jvcleave e.g. from a new emptyExamples
20:20 fossterer emptyexamples is fine..
20:21 fossterer I have another project developed by another developer in 07 pre release
20:23 jvcleave just opening that up may not work as the project may be referencing the OF 07 structure
20:24 fossterer jvcleave: The error I receive is -  "../../../libs/openFrameworks/utils/ofConstants.h|223|fatal error: tesselator.h: No such file or directory|"
20:24 fossterer I don't see anything specific to this project...

20:35 fossterer Is there someone here?
20:42 admsyn joined #openframeworks
20:44 fossterer Please tell me if I can run 007_pre_release for Android. I better give up this 008 version
20:44 admsyn hi fossterer, what issues are you running into?
20:45 fossterer admsyn: The error I receive is -  "../../../libs/openFrameworks/utils/ofConstants.h|223|fatal error: tesselator.h: No such file or directory|"
20:45 admsyn I doubt 007 will work, it's pretty old now and Android's changed quite a bit since then
20:45 admsyn sounds like it's a just an include paths issue, should be pretty fixable :)
20:45 admsyn you're using eclipse, presumably?
20:46 fossterer No, codeblocks
20:46 fossterer the same version from the main setup guide by openframeworks.cc
20:46 admsyn cool, so what've you tried so far?
20:47 fossterer What have I TRIED??? Made softlinks , modified that tesselator.h path to match the current 008 layout and everything...
20:48 admsyn yeah, just want to make sure I'm not asking you to try anything you've done already :)
20:48 fossterer That solves a step but..
20:48 fossterer poco throws up another error
20:48 admsyn what's your include paths look like right now?
20:49 admsyn if it can't find anything it all, there's a pretty good chance it's just OF_PATH that's set wrong
20:49 fossterer there's no any 'include path' in this project!!
20:50 fossterer Is it compulsary to create one?
20:50 admsyn well, yeah. What you need to do is tell code::blocks what directories you're talking about when you say "tesselator.h"
20:50 admsyn just reading through the logs, it sounds like you've inherited an old project from someone else?
20:51 admsyn it might be easiest to start with the empty example that you said works, and then just add this old code to the empty example
20:51 admsyn because then you won't have to fight with code::blocks config
20:57 fossterer admsyn: This project has sub directories too.. Do you think it should work if I recreate them that way exactly? (This is my first time with codeblocks)
20:57 admsyn yeah it should :)
20:57 admsyn the problem is that oF has a *lot* of includes, so if it's all falling apart it's probably easiest to start from something that's already working, instead of trying to re-do it all
20:57 admsyn what's the structure look like for the project you inherited?
20:57 admsyn is it just a src/ with some subdirectories?
20:57 The_Fly hm, ofxfenster is incomplete
20:57 fossterer admsyn: One directory with just '3 sub directories'. Each of them has a .cbp, src and everything...
20:57 admsyn so it's 3 projects?
20:57 admsyn .cbp is code::blocks' project file format I assume?
20:58 fossterer admsyn: I doubt it.. really... Can I just assume them to be 3 different projects?
20:58 admsyn it sounds like it is
20:59 admsyn assuming .cbp is code::blocks' project file format, and you've got 3 directories with 3 src/ folders, it sounds pretty much like 3 projects :)
20:59 fossterer admsyn: hmm.... I was just clueless since this CodeBlocks is new to me..
20:59 fossterer Now do you want me to duplicate the emptyExample directory  and manually replace src directory?
21:00 admsyn it sounds like what you're dealing with isn't so much an oF issue as it is that you've inherited a bit of a mess :) I can help you figure it out but it sounds like the easiest way to get answers would be to ask wherever you got that code from
21:00 admsyn yeah
21:00 admsyn but if you just throw 3 projects at code::blocks I'm going to assume it's going to get very confused with what you're trying to do
21:00 fossterer admsyn: No.. I am opening a single cbp file by double-clicking
21:00 admsyn oh ok then
21:01 admsyn alright, so let's take a stab at it
21:01 admsyn the cbp you opened, what happens when you try and build it?
21:01 admsyn the tesselator.h issue?
21:01 fossterer exactly...
21:02 admsyn ok, where is the folder then?
21:02 admsyn it should probably be something like openframeworks/apps/myApps/something/something.cbp
21:02 fossterer As i said... that BIG parent directory is in 'apps' folder
21:02 admsyn ok
21:03 admsyn can you just give me the whole absolute path of the .cbp? it'll make it easier for me to figure out :)
21:03 admsyn it sounds like it's just in the wrong place in the heirarchy though
21:04 fossterer hmm.. I forgot it.. IRC hates forward slashes...
21:04 admsyn if you start it with a space you should be ok
21:04 fossterer "/home/shashank/Packages/Code Blocks/of_v0.8.0_linux64_release/apps/earlyDemos/BasicGrayDecoder/BasicGrayDecoder.cbp"
21:05 admsyn ok, sounds like you've got the linux version of oF
21:05 admsyn you want it to run on android?
21:05 fossterer I'm using Ubuntu.. for now..
21:05 fossterer the project was actually developed for desktop...
21:05 fossterer That shouldn't be any issue
21:06 admsyn ok, but you're going to need the android release of openFrameworks if you want it to run on android
21:06 liamstask joined #openframeworks
21:06 admsyn even though the code should more-or-less work
21:06 fossterer I got it setup a week ago for Eclipse
21:06 admsyn the android release?
21:07 fossterer Now I've to check if this 007_pre_relase targeted project is good with 008
21:07 fossterer yeah..
21:07 fossterer Only if it is fine here can I move to porting to android.. I planned
21:08 admsyn alright, so for the moment android's irrelevant? You're just trying to get the regular linux version working?
21:08 fossterer you got that right!
21:08 admsyn alright, so the examples work just fine in your linux release?
21:09 fossterer yes... every graphics, communication example is fine
21:10 admsyn ok, and then you took this project from an 007 version of oF, and dropped it into your apps folder, and it doesn't work?
21:10 fossterer yes
21:10 admsyn and it does work inside the 007 release folder it came from?
21:11 fossterer I didn't run it... I don't have access either to that system or developer
21:11 admsyn alright
21:12 admsyn well it *sounds* like the OF_PATH is just wrong, maybe the person who wrote the original code changed it to something non-standard to make it easier for them, so we'll just have to undo it
21:12 admsyn can you find your build settings in code::blocks?
21:14 fossterer Settings> and?
21:14 admsyn *or* you can just copy the emptyExample, and add replace the testApp / ofApp with the code you're trying to run
21:14 admsyn look for anything like OF_PATH or include path or include header path or something like that
21:14 admsyn I don't know what code::blocks calls it
21:15 fossterer Let me try your second alternative.. Please be here for 2 min
21:24 fossterer admsyn: For that particular project.. It compiled but debugging output says - some ofGLRenderer: drawing an unallocated texture...
21:24 fossterer think I've tocheck another project too
21:24 admsyn yeah that's actually pretty ok, it shows that at least we're running
21:24 admsyn there'll be a bit of porting involved, but probably not much
21:25 admsyn unless your project is doing something weird with windowing, you'll probably want to use GLFW (look at main.cpp of the emptyExample)
21:26 fossterer GLFW? Nothing like that in emptyExample...
21:27 admsyn yeah, it's what you'll get "by default" if you use the main.cpp that the emptyExample has
21:27 admsyn the project you copied over probably has some stuff about GLUT in main.cpp?
21:28 fossterer uhuuhuh.. yeah how can you say that? from that Warning?
21:28 fossterer #include "ofAppGlutWindow.h"
21:29 fossterer But emptyExample's main.cpp doesn't have any GLFW at all..
21:30 admsyn no I'm just saying that started moving over to GLFW from GLUT in 0.8, so it's a thing you might want to talk into account if things aren't working
21:30 admsyn anyway nevermind
21:30 admsyn is it working>?
21:31 fossterer Ohh.. so is it recommended to use GLFW.... in the case of 008?
21:31 fossterer but never so earlier?
21:32 admsyn it didn't exist until 0.8. It's not necessary now, but it's what you'll get by default if you're app doesn't explicitly request a GLUT window
21:32 admsyn is it working, though?
21:33 fossterer oh.. thanks.. I will ask about GLFW soon... for now I am trying for another of those 3 projects to see any has a meaningful output for me..
21:34 admsyn I wouldn't worry too much if you get that GLRenderer warning once right at the start. If I remember correctly the GLUT window sometimes does a draw() before setup() gets called.. if it doesn't crash you're probably fine :)
21:37 fossterer Wait...!!! There is no src in the other directories at all.. all cpp and h files are set loose but ther's a 'cbp' file again.. Are we dealing with something different than expected?
21:37 admsyn yeah that's kind of weird
21:37 admsyn it might work if they've setup the cbp project right htough
21:38 admsyn is stuff working in general though? Can you get those projects to run? I'm about to leave..
21:38 fossterer No...
21:39 admsyn well what's wrong then?
21:39 fossterer src/ThreadedImageCapture.h|4|fatal error: ofxThread.h: No such file or directory|
21:39 admsyn ok, sounds like it needs an ofxThread addon?
21:40 admsyn that's pretty old school
21:40 admsyn there's an ofThread now
21:40 fossterer O'Reilly? do i just rename it?
21:40 admsyn yeah that should probably work, but I'm not sure what the differences are between ofxThread and ofThread
21:41 admsyn I'd say just rename it, and get rid of the #include "ofxThread.h"
21:42 fossterer rename and again get rid of?
21:43 admsyn 1) rename the things that are ofxThread to ofThread
21:43 admsyn 2) remove the lines that are #include "ofxThread.h"
21:43 fossterer ohh.. I see... no need to explicitly include you say?
21:44 admsyn no it'll be pulled in by ofMain.h
21:44 fossterer alright.. let me
21:47 fossterer src/ThreadedImageSaver.h|16|error: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘ofImageType’ [-fpermissive]|
21:47 admsyn try just casting the int
21:47 fossterer I guess that's a change between versions..
21:47 admsyn (ofImageType)whatever
21:50 admsyn anything else? leaving in a sec
21:53 fossterer quit???

23:52 nselikoff I'm having trouble setting up cross-compiling, however. It seems like it can't find the gstreamer libs even though I can see that it's installed.
