00:45 admsyn jbeale: hey, that problem with raspi compilation issue is (IIRC) due to the templating on ofColor..it takes up too much compiler memory and crashes :/
00:45 admsyn I think you have to cross compile it

10:31 alnkpa2 hi, I'm having a problem installing oF on ubuntu 13.04: "portaudio19-dev : Depends: libjack-dev". this can't be met somehow. can someone help me with that?

14:52 arathp hey guys, i had an idea for detecting blinks in CV and I'm wondering if it's a good one to pursue. I was going to just look at the eyes, and run a contour finder to try and find the pupil. Is this good or bad?
14:55 jonbro joined #openframeworks
15:02 oneironaut seems like a sound idea
15:03 oneironaut arathp: are you hacking with any of the eyewriter source on hand?
15:08 arathp eyewriter source?
15:09 arathp nah, I'm just using ofxfacetracker
15:09 arathp and ofxopencv
15:09 arathp ofxcv*
15:23 vade joined #openframeworks
15:24 oneironaut eyewriter did some careful pupil tracking using openCV if you wanted more examples, but it worked well because it relied on an IR rig practically strapped to your face
15:25 oneironaut not sure if you'll have enough resolution to reliably detect blinks if the webcam is further away from the eyes
15:26 jvcleave jbeale it last worked for me with a 128/128 memory split
15:33 arathp I think I will if i look for the entire eye. there's bound to be enough of a color differencebetween the eye and the skin around it.

17:51 jbeale thanks jvcleave. Meanwhile I decided I really only need opencv so I'm trying to compile just that by itself.
17:52 jvcleave you should be able to get that from apt-get

20:27 mst1228 if i have an ofFbo that i've allocated for a certain w/h, it's still fine if I draw things at negative coordinates inside the fbo, right?
20:28 admsyn as in if you have a VBO and it has points that fall outside the FBO ?
20:29 admsyn that's fine :)

20:50 mst1228 i'm confused about threadedImageLoader
20:51 mst1228 is there any type of callback or 'isdoneloading' check?
20:51 mst1228 i have some resizing etc i need to do, how do i wait until after i'm certain the image has loaded?
20:52 admsyn yeah that looks like a bit of an omission :/
20:53 admsyn I'd guess the expected use is to check your in-progress images after every update and see if they're done
20:53 mst1228 ok
20:54 mst1228 i'm building a kind of slideshow (generally), and i have a class that represents each slide
20:54 mst1228 i'll be creating a lot of these slides and each one will have an image
20:55 mst1228 is it ok if the class uses ofxThreadedImageLoader, or should i try to share a single instance somehow?
20:55 mst1228 since i'll be creating numerous instances of that class, i'd end up with several instances of the loader.
20:56 mst1228 i'm going to be handling old slides in someway, so i'm not sure if that'll be fine then
20:56 admsyn that's *probably* fine, I don't think the threaded image loader takes up much resources on its own, especially in comparison to a fullscreen image
20:56 mst1228 ok cool. so i guess, can you elaborate on how to check if the loader has completed loading images in it's queue?
20:57 admsyn it might be better to share the threaded image loader though, so it can be a bit more intelligent about which images should come first
20:59 admsyn fwiw I haven't used the ofxThreadedImageLoader before, just looking at it now
21:00 admsyn it looks like it only actually allocates the image once it's been fetched
21:01 admsyn so check if it's allocated?
21:01 mst1228 i'll give it a shot, thanks
21:01 admsyn alternatively, you could modify your copy of ofxThreadedImageLoader to do the resize in its update(), since as of now it'll allocate a fullsize memory region for it
21:02 mst1228 yeah sounds like a good idea probably
21:02 mst1228 do you know if it's possible to use the projectGenerator to *add* addons to an existing project?
21:03 admsyn it should be, but I'm not sure how dependable it is at the moment
21:03 admsyn actually do you mean the simple one with like 4 rows?
21:04 admsyn I don't think that one can
21:04 mst1228 that's the one i have
21:05 mst1228 ok i can add it
21:05 mst1228 thanks a lot for your help
21:05 admsyn np, good luck with your project
21:05 mst1228 thanks, i'll likely have some more questions another time, but should be rolling for now

22:20 mst1228 is there anything to know about fonts in OF? i can't seem to get a super quality looking font rendered
22:21 mst1228 it's not horrific, but just some little details
22:22 admsyn yeah that's a bit of a weak point with oF / freetype's font rendering AFAICT
22:23 admsyn sometimes playing with the font sizing or using a similar font might make it a little nicer
22:26 admsyn I *think* cpbaker might have a fork / addon that makes the rendering a little nicer if fiddling with oF's out-of-the-box rendering isn't going to cut it
22:27 mst1228 ooo
