00:09 pizthewiz yay CSS is back for openframeworks.cc

00:42 pizthewiz dantheman: oups, I just noticed my GPU only had 128 not 256, gonna try that again and see if it helps at all…
00:42 dantheman lol nice
00:42 dantheman each change that setting in /boot/config.txt
00:42 dantheman you can change that on on your laptop
00:42 dantheman then slap the card in a reboot
00:43 lianj you can also change it on the rpi and reboot
00:45 pizthewiz Yeah, I just ssh'd in and ran raspi-config directly and rebooted
00:45 dantheman that too
00:45 pizthewiz I can't really imagine 256MB to the GPU will double my framerate but it is worth a try
00:45 dantheman lianj: but if you are changing a few cards for a few pi it comes in handy
00:45 dantheman depends
00:46 pizthewiz I suppose I could profile my app too and see if there are any clues
00:46 dantheman you can also try a moderate over clock
00:46 dantheman are you running off the release or github?
00:47 pizthewiz heh, something is definitely off in my case, I just have an 1024x768 and animating the alpha over another
00:47 pizthewiz This is running off the v0.8.0 release
00:47 lianj more ram doesn't necessarily improve your framerate. using opengl right does
00:47 dantheman ahh
00:47 dantheman you can try this img that jason put together http://www.jvcref.com/files/PI/CMU_OF_RPI_MASTER.img
00:47 dantheman for the CMU workshop
00:48 pizthewiz I also have the repo cloned and built, I suppose I could try that too
00:51 pizthewiz lianj: I don't doubt that at all. In my case it is a simple enableAlphaBlend/draw back/draw front/disableAlphaBlend which seems rather dull.

01:47 jacres pizthewiz: more ram most lilely won't help unless your driver is causing paging out to the hard drive
01:48 jacres oh wait, this is integrated gpu?
01:48 jacres by hard drive, I meant host RAM (non-device)
01:51 pizthewiz Yeah, changing the RAM/GPU memory split hasn't really changed much. the app is still in the 7-14 fps range

20:52 fossterer People! Got an interesting (or troubling) question... Can I integrate an 'openCV project' into a regular 'OpenFrameWorks project'?
20:56 admsyn I guess that depends on what an "opencv project" is?
20:57 admsyn but yeah generally it should be fine, assuming the opencv project is using the same version of opencv that the oF project is using
20:59 fossterer Here it is.. The 'regular' part contains just a control panel where the 'opencv part' is for creating a grabber...
20:59 admsyn so you mean the highgui stuff?
21:00 fossterer No... no highgui.. I am considering a simple control panel as in the example - 'openframeworksguiexample'
21:01 admsyn so you have an opencv application, but you want an openframeworks-y gui for it?
21:01 fossterer the opencv camera is because.. OF's camera is not responding on Nexus devices..
21:02 fossterer yes.. that's waht I mean
21:02 admsyn isn't there a hack fix for that, though? The 1px x 1px offscreen view hack thing?
21:03 admsyn seems like it'd be way easier than trying to smash some opencv application into oF
21:03 admsyn but hey, I'd think ofarturo would know way better than I would :3
21:03 admsyn @ofarturo
21:04 fossterer ohh.. yeah.. The hack.. by miqelferrarons...

21:27 fossterer my project has no reference to ofandroidvideograbber.. Is it just invoked on a call to regular 'ofvideograbber'?

22:16 fossterer Hello! I want to implement this fix for my app.. https://github.com/openframeworks/openFrameworks/issues/2662
22:16 fossterer I am still not getting the grabber work.. Please help!
22:18 admsyn1 what issues are you running into?
22:19 fossterer you're back.. Thank you... I mean no effect of renaming.. DO you want me to paste the code snippet I modified?
22:20 admsyn1 sure
22:20 fossterer http://pastebin.com/a8wuCFuQ
22:22 fossterer Here's my Manifest... http://pastebin.com/D8yy61eR
22:22 admsyn1 ok, so this is something you changed in the oF android java source?
22:23 fossterer yes.. in           "~/of_v0.8.0_android_release/addons/ofxAndroid/ofAndroidLib/src/cc/openframeworks/ofAndroidVideoGrabber.java"
22:25 admsyn1 well you've got a typo for one
22:25 admsyn1 constructor.newInstance(frameLayou1);
22:25 admsyn1 frameLayou1 -> frameLayout1
22:26 fossterer I changed it just now.. for verifying... if it affects anything really.. NO it didn't either
22:27 admsyn1 so if you actually display this view, is the camera's texture in there?
22:29 fossterer What does that mean -- 'camera's texture in there'? I changed AndroidVideoGrabber.. Isn't that sufficient?
22:30 admsyn1 from what I understand, the hack is displaying the camera in an offscreen view, and then using the contents of that view in ofVideoGrabber
22:30 admsyn1 so what I'm asking is to try and break down the solution you've got there, and see what part is not working
22:30 admsyn1 because I don't have a nexus on me to test with, so I need a bit more info than just "it's not working" :)
22:43 fossterer (Sorry for not answering.. was trying a few variations on the name and 'id' but in vain..)
22:44 admsyn1 np, let me know if you make any breakthroughs :)
22:44 fossterer I meant the preview is nowhere... 'LogCat' still says 'surfaceTexture has been abandoned' as it did earlier.. and the 'camera fps is 0' just as it was earlier...
22:45 fossterer As I said... 'even that typo' didn't affect it any different.. I think it is once again treating it as 'a non-existent view'
22:51 fossterer @admsyn1: Tell me this... I am cleaning & building the project.. Does it do the same for all the addons?
22:51 fossterer I mean.. by itself..
22:51 admsyn1 mostly, if the addon comes with a static lib, that won't get re-built
22:51 admsyn1 but everything else will
22:52 fossterer So in this it too should have been getting rebuilt.. hmm.. What else should I try?
22:54 admsyn1 the most reliable way to figure it out would be to break it into bits that make sense, and see which ones are working and which ones aren't
22:54 admsyn1 so, if you're doing the 1px x 1px offscreen view thing, see if the camera's actually being rendered in there
22:55 fossterer How do I see if it's rendering there?
22:55 admsyn1 it's a view right? display it?
22:55 * admsyn1 doesn't know much about android though
22:56 fossterer what do you mean by 'display it'? It should be displaying it.. when I include a layout..
22:56 fossterer alright.. I'll try and get back.. in a few minutes..
