10:13 notjosh heh is 0.8.4 still what I should be building with? or is git~master (or similar) a better bet?
10:14 notjosh so many linker issues out of the box on the iOS template - can clean 'em up, but not sure if there's a more modern starting place :)

22:36 zach hey all. i’m a js/ruby developer who’s trying to make sense of. i know nothing about how header files work… do i need to something to use ofxNetwork in my project? add it somehow?
22:36 zach sens of OF*
22:37 zach i’m told “’ofxNetwork.h’ file not found”
22:52 yandil joined #openframeworks
23:03 notjosh zach: I'm p.new to oF, so I'm no real help on that front. but header files (.h files) are the public interface, and the implementation (probably .m or .mm) is where you actually fill in that interface. you'll need to add `ofxNetwork.h` to your project though - not sure the general oF way of handling these things, but (assuming you're on Mac), often it can be as simple as drag/dropping the files into your Xcode
23:03 notjosh window and adding via the prompt (as long as there are not additional dependencies)
23:03 notjosh buuuut for all I know, people are using submodules, or maybe oF has a dependency manager. can't say for sure :)
23:04 zach ah, very helpful
23:04 zach notjosh: do you know how path searching works? like, there’s a project in examples/addons/networkUdpSenderExample that presumably has its dependencies installed
23:05 zach (or included or accessible or whatever)
23:06 zach but that example project doesn’t have an addons folder in it… until you open the xcodeproj file (also on a mac)
23:07 notjosh hrm, there are a few ways. in general headers are pretty much all flattened, so you don't need to worry about paths so much with Xcode. but let me take a look at that project
23:08 zach ok. also, i’m sort of confused by the idea of dragging a header file into my project… wouldn’t it also need an implementation? and might it have it’s own dependencies as well?
23:08 notjosh yar.
23:10 notjosh so in effect, they've just dragged the `addons/ofxNetwork` folder into Xcode's project navigator
23:10 notjosh the paths just point relative to the oF download
23:11 notjosh (you'll see you have a Project.xcconfig file in your Xcode project with relative paths to that same oF distro as well..so be careful moving things about!)
23:11 notjosh but once you drag ofxNetwork in, you can `#include "ofxNetwork.h"` and you're good to go :)
23:12 zach ah, neat!...
23:17 notjosh that enough to get you going?
23:29 notjosh here's hoping, 'cos I'm off to bed :)
23:40 zach thanks notjosh!
