22:33 alski Could somebody help me understand when to use ofMesh vs ofVboMesh?
22:35 admsyn sure
22:35 admsyn what are you going to use it for?
22:36 admsyn generally, though, I'd say just use an ofVboMesh if you're unsure
22:37 admsyn it does the same things as ofMesh, but has a VBO integrated with it which is *probably* what you want
22:42 alski (sorry about the delay) I want to create a point cloud, and have line connections shuffle on click. Down the line I want the connections to be more animated, more textured, so probably VBO?
22:43 admsyn yeah, ofVboMesh
22:45 alski Perfect, thanks admsyn (seriously you help me a ton on the irc, thank you)
22:45 admsyn I'd say in general just use ofVboMesh unless you're doing something like reading from a model file and processing meshes
22:45 admsyn sure np
22:45 admsyn :)
23:07 alski If you don't explicitly set an index for a vertex in a mesh, I assume it just connects in pairs (in the case of primitive line mode). Are there really indices created? I can't seem to just do clearIndices() right now.
23:08 admsyn is usingIndices() returning true?
23:08 admsyn I think by default it just generates auto incrementing indices unless you start setting your own

23:12 alski I'm not getting any feedback on clearIndices(), no errors or anything, it's just that my connected lines aren't disappearing like I would expect them to.
23:12 alski Am I misunderstanding clearIndices()?
23:13 admsyn if you haven't enabled indices I think it'll do nothing
23:14 mhashmi joined #openframeworks
23:15 alski Hmm... I've enabled indices and it's still doing nothing, and the documentation says that indices are enabled by default when vertices are added.
23:17 admsyn what you want to do is set your own vertices right? To do arbitrary lines between your verts?
23:18 admsyn it looks like getIndices() will give you reference to the indices if you want to change them directly
23:20 alski Ok, that will be good to know. I'll keep playing around with clearIndices, because if something isn't working there, I must have some sort of misconception about vertices and indices.
