15:22 jedahan hmm do I rederive the actual function for this curve I want, or do I just give beziercurve a couple of points and let it do its magic ??
15:25 jedahan I am trying to exaggerate this hand movement, but keep it between 0 and ofGetWidth()
15:26 jedahan so 0->0, 0.5 -> 0.5, 1.0 -> 1.0, but like, 0.75 -> 0.875, and 0.25 -> 0.125
15:27 jedahan I think its just a second order equation, but might be a third order
15:27 jedahan someething like the characterstic I-V curve for a diode
15:27 jedahan so I can either relearn my linear algebra
15:27 jedahan or just make a bezier curve and get the points along it
15:28 jedahan I think something like "EaseInOut" https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.media.animation.easingmode%28v=vs.110%29.aspx
15:28 admsyn so you're trying to create a path that should a) exaggerate the motion of some thing and b) not exceed some rectangle?
15:29 jedahan yeah, and exxagerrate with the understanding that 0.5 is still 0.5
15:29 jedahan haha
15:30 admsyn yeah I think the space of animation curves is well trodden :)
15:30 admsyn I think the "keep it in the box" might get a little complicated depending on how you want to do that
15:30 admsyn obviously clamping it would "work" but look like ass
15:31 jedahan well, its ok for it to feel a little off
15:31 jedahan they arent going to be seing anything
15:31 jedahan just a mouse cursor moving
15:31 admsyn you could come up with a function that adds a "pull back to center" vector you add to your final position, where that vector goes from 0 to 100% as you get close to the edges
15:32 admsyn and starts at 0 at say the 90% point
15:32 admsyn I did that for a thing and it worked out well fwiw ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
15:33 jedahan ahh neat
15:34 jedahan I think ofInterpolateCubic(.42,0,.58,1) might also just do it
15:34 jedahan o-o
15:34 jedahan http://cubic-bezier.com/#.42,0,.58,1 is a neat size

16:35 sirBenjamin Hello, anyone on that can help with complining projectGenerator from github on linux?
16:35 admsyn sure, what errors are you getting?
16:36 sirBenjamin just the "please report this error
16:36 admsyn there should be more to it than that..
16:36 sirBenjamin I ran compilePG.sh
16:36 admsyn did you run the install dependencies scrtipt?
16:36 sirBenjamin yes
16:37 sirBenjamin There is nothing in apps/projectGenerator/projectGeneratorSimple
16:37 admsyn oh it's a submodule
16:37 admsyn so git submodule init; git submodule update;
16:37 admsyn in the root of the repo
16:38 sirBenjamin K I'll try
16:38 sirBenjamin Actually the script says this "make: *** No rule to make target `Release'.  Stop."
16:38 admsyn yeah I'd imagine that's because there's nothing in the folder to build :)
16:39 sirBenjamin oh look it works now! :)
16:40 sirBenjamin after git init submodule
16:42 admsyn fwiw this info is in the README, though a lot of the questions that come through here are some variation on the problem you had
16:42 admsyn so that's probably indicative that we should modify the README a bit
16:43 sirBenjamin ... sorry... I have been trying to work with openFrameworks for a week now with little success. I just switched to a VM linux machine to see if I have better luck (was previously on windows 8)
16:44 admsyn yeah no worries, I think a lot of people do the same thing you do, so the problem is still that we're not structuring the README in the best way I suppose
16:44 sirBenjamin So, next question. I made a project (in linux) and when I try to compile and run with openFrameworks get a "fatal error: cairo-features.h: Nosuch file or directory" error
16:45 admsyn that'd imply that either cairo isn't installed (from the install dependencies script) or the header search paths in your IDE / makefile aren't correct
16:47 sirBenjamin Maybe I should back up. I really want to use open framworks to capture/dispaly a h.264 RTP stream. I found oxfGstreamer and oxfGstRTP on git. I would like to compile/run an example in oxfGstRTP. What I have done is download all of the needed addons and put then in openFramwork's addons folder and then generate a project with those addons with project generator
16:47 sirBenjamin Then I copy and past into the generated project the make files and sources for the ofxGstRTP file.
16:48 sirBenjamin I haven't got them to compile yet because of the cario error. Am I proceeding down the right path?
16:48 admsyn I usually work on OSX so I'm kind of guessing here, but I think that step is what's causing the error
16:48 sirBenjamin what's the correct way to "build an example" then?
16:48 admsyn not being able to find cairo would imply that it's having trouble finding *all* of the OF internal libs
16:49 admsyn let's slow down a sec here :)
16:49 admsyn if I have to guess, what happened is that in the process of copying the makefiles etc around, the relative paths to the libs changed
16:49 sirBenjamin K, sorry I am so happy to find someone that is willing to answer a few questions
16:50 sirBenjamin okay, I don't understand what the ../../../ implies.
16:50 sirBenjamin oh wait, is that similar to cd ./?
16:50 admsyn it's the path from your project directory (with src and bin inside it) to the root of the OF folder
16:50 sirBenjamin like we are going "up" directories?
16:51 admsyn so if you were to copy the project from apps/myApps/emptyExample and move it to something like apps/emptyExample it'd break because the paths are wrong
16:51 admsyn so what's the path of the gst example, relative to the OF root?
16:51 sirBenjamin okay, I'm checking that now. Where does OF_ROOT want to end up at?
16:51 admsyn it should point at the folder you cloned from github (with apps, examples, libs etc)
16:52 sirBenjamin oh wait, OpenFramworks root.....
16:52 admsyn I have to leave right now though, I'll probably be back in a few hours
16:52 admsyn good luck! there's often a few people around here that are better than me at linux too fwiw :)
16:52 sirBenjamin Okay @adsyn. THANK YOU THANK YOU!
