17:35 aroman hello!
17:36 aroman i'm trying to improve performance  with my application, and have found that calling loadData() on my main (1080p RGB) texture is quite slow -- sometimes taking more than a full-frame's worth of time (>30ms).
17:36 aroman any idea how to speed that up? should I be updating textures on a separate thread?
18:30 ray02 do you know somthig about fbo?
18:30 ray02 @aromna
18:30 ray02 @aroman
18:43 aroman not at all. that said, i think the problem is less with loadData itself and more with thread competition
18:44 aroman @ray02 on another thread, i'm continuously running a very CPU-bound task (neural network). Even though it's running in another thread, it uses all of my cores and slows down drawing a bit
18:45 aroman so i wonder if there's some way to promote the priority of the main/gl thread?
18:46 aroman i think this because when i turn off the expensive call in the other thread, performance is nice and buttery
18:47 ray02 no idea sorry :(
