00:05 t4nk956 Hello, I am wondering if I can use Rally to generate  load, but do not remove the load after the run

00:52 t4nk956 @kun_huang there is no way to keep those objects?
00:56 kun_huang t4nk956: you wanna keep those? boris has answered this last week, no way to keep, except hacking it
00:56 t4nk956 oh, OK, thanks!
00:57 t4nk956 I guess I will just add a pdb before removing the object
00:57 t4nk956 by the way, do you know which does that?
00:58 t4nk956 maybe Rally can add a command line argument like "generator", to do just that
01:06 kun_huang t4nk956: I know that, wait a minute
01:08 t4nk956 :)

01:18 kun_huang t4nk956: some codes changed, this line find all resources created by rally and tries to delete it
01:19 kun_huang t4nk956: so you need find the result returned by find_resource_managers and remove "instances" for example
01:20 t4nk956 Great! Thank you very much!
01:23 t4nk956 By the way, I pulled Rally docker image directly from the registry. Do you know the sudo or root password for that image?

01:35 t4nk956 good idea :)
01:39 t4nk956 could not find it. I will rebuld the image then. Thanks for your help!

16:08 meteorfox boris-42: hiya, quick comment about the SLA max_outliers https://review.openstack.org/#/c/148079/16
16:10 meteorfox boris-42: I don't think this is 'statistically' correct. The implied assumption with that patch is that measurements behave 'normally' as in a normal distribution
16:10 meteorfox boris-42: which is not true for most latency/response time measurements
16:14 boris-42 meteorfox: we can discuss this today
16:14 boris-42 meteorfox: on meeting

16:15 rook__ joined #openstack-rally
16:15 boris-42 meteorfox: so but what I can say for now is that it is the best what we are able to do in case of ONLINE calculations
16:16 meteorfox boris-42: ok. just for the record. I'm not saying they won't work, but need to be taken with a grain of salt. Depends on what you are measuring.
16:16 meteorfox boris-42: here's a good reference for multimodal latency distiributions in performance. http://www.brendangregg.com/FrequencyTrails/modes.html
16:17 meteorfox boris-42: and about outlier detection (6 sigma) http://www.brendangregg.com/FrequencyTrails/outliers.html
16:20 meteorfox boris-42: one suggestion (if we are not already using it), is to use the 6 sigma algorithm, which should be sufficiently robust, even for distributions that are not normal
16:21 meteorfox boris-42: here's a quick snippet of that page I shared. "For the normal distribution, the probability of a 6σ measurement is less than 1 in 500 million, calculated using the error function. For other distributions, the probability of 6σ differs. It is assumed to remain sufficiently unlikely to be suitable for outlier detection, even as the distribution
16:21 meteorfox type differs, and when σ is influenced by the outliers it detects."
16:26 prashantS joined #openstack-rally
16:27 prashantS joined #openstack-rally
16:30 meteorfox boris-42: so, looking at the patch the sigmas test algorithm is the same, but the test defaults to 2 sigmas, which I believe is too low for non-normal distributions. My suggestion is to increase this. Here's how a concurrent build distributions (latency trails) look for one the tests I ran.
16:31 meteorfox https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/9unyGEhF/build_times_density_plots.png
16:31 meteorfox initially behaves normally, but from  > 16 behaves in a multi-modal fashion
16:32 meteorfox with 2 sigmas, everything would be an outlier

17:33 apal amaretskiy: here's the deployment check: http://paste.openstack.org/show/pqWl5TToz2l9idyYm49p/
17:33 amaretskiy it seems that issue is related with ssl

17:38 apal but v2 test works with ssl
17:38 e0ne joined #openstack-rally
17:39 apal amaretskiy: and our cloud has ssl/tls enabled. That's what we need to test. Do you mean rally can't test v3 in ssl enable?
17:39 amaretskiy rally supports ssl
17:40 apal It may be something about the domain? our v3 functions enabled domain DTUG while v2 just using default domain
17:40 amaretskiy apal: maybe this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/29099404/ssl-insecureplatform-error-when-using-requests-package
17:40 apal I redeployed w/o cacert and it still fails with v3
17:42 boris-42 apal: could you try to use the same credentials
17:42 boris-42 apal: directly via keystone client
17:42 boris-42 apal: and tyr to create new user?
17:43 apal that works.
17:43 apal boris-42: keystoneclient works, e.g. cli: keystone user-list
17:44 apal boris-42: e.g. cli: keystone user-create
17:46 amaretskiy apal: this can be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/keystone/+bug/1264325

17:49 apal amaretskiy: that's really a old bug. Keystone v3 needs either domain scoped token or project scoped token to work our creation ops. 20:11 zwang @amaretskiy, Thanks amaretskiy! That solved my issue
20:11 apal amaretskiy: I can run openstack client with the following openrc. But when I config existing.json with those parameters, it failed in rally deploy, any idea? http://paste.openstack.org/show/tDw8j99o6JJu3RnN9K4b/
20:12 apal amaretskiy: deploy failed with this existing.json: http://paste.openstack.org/show/9xxuPnUvpCWODc8okvy4/
20:12 apal what's the corresponding params in existing.json mapping to openrc?
20:16 apal @here if anyone knows how to identify "OS_IDENTITY_API_VERSION" in rally deployment config?

20:25 redixin -_-
20:28 redixin apal you can find sample in existing deployment engine code
20:29 apal boris-42: amaretskiy: it's weird. The openrc under ~/.rally is generated with OS_TENANT_NAME even I don't have any tenant_name identified in existing.json for that deploy
20:29 apal redixin: I did see the sample and followed it  but not work for keystone v3
20:30 apal can u pass a keystone v3 rally test?
20:31 apal @here shall I deal with ~/.rally/openrc after a fresh deploy? If yes I think there's a rally bug there.
20:31 redixin apal I was trying today, but it didn't work. Will investigate tomorrow
20:32 apal rdeixin: ok. What I found so far is the ~/.rally/openrc did not get correct info from the existing deployment config, the tenant_name part looks harded coded just for v2

20:45 apal Now we're blocked... It's appreciated if any clue to move on Rally testing...

23:06 apal @here it looks the reason that keystone v3 test failed, as be lack of domain scoped token, and domain scoped token config can't be deployed in rally deployment as domain_id and domain_name are not supported. I logged it in https://bugs.launchpad.net/keystone/+bug/1441379
23:07 apal Hope we can figure it out soon. Service testing in keystone v3 should be fine; but keystone API testing (like domain, user, group) are totally blocked!!!!
