08:37 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @abhi6254 https://github.com/openstack/rally/blob/master/samples/tasks/scenarios/vm/boot-runcommand-delete.yaml#L18
08:37 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : "times" field of runner means the number of times scenario will be executed
08:38 e0ne joined #openstack-rally
08:39 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : Yes, understood
08:39 dileepr andreykurilin: I ran the script as python cleanup.py

08:41 dileepr https://github.com/dileepranganathan/ODLRallyPlugin/blob/master/ODLPlugin.yml
08:41 dileepr I used times as 1000 and concurrency as 8

08:41 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : [edit] Just want to know, Can i run this scenario with fixed security group?
08:41 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : @andreykurilin
08:42 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : Is there anywhere i defined fixed security group then attached that to newly created server/instances?
08:43 dileepr andreykurilin:
08:44 dileepr andreykurilin: someone accidentally pressed ctrl+c when the rally task was running..
08:45 dileepr the plugin can successfully complete if no interruption
08:47 openstackgerrit Staroverov Anton proposed openstack/rally master: Modifing of test on docstrings  https://review.openstack.org/428739
08:52 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @abhi6254: yes, you can specify security group via scenario argument something like `"security_groups": [<name_of_secgroup>]`
08:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @dileepr: Did you run script at the same node as rally was executed (I mean does it have access to the same endpoints of openstack) ? does `rally deployment check` works there now ?
08:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : arslanq: try to update it. `pip install -U iso8601`
08:54 Serlex joined #openstack-rally
08:57 dileepr andreykurilin: I ran the script from the same node where rally run the task.. rally deployment check works and shows keystone there
09:00 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : @andreykurilin : Then what will happen when there is security group create by https://github.com/openstack/rally/blob/master/rally/plugins/openstack/scenarios/vm/vmtasks.py#L47-L58 ?
09:01 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : or which security group work? create by `vmtask.py` or fixed security group passed in scenario file?
09:04 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : because when i run this scenario without passing any security group `"security_groups": [<name_of_secgroup>]` then this scenario create security group with port 22 for ssh for every tenant
09:06 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : unfortunately, in all cases(no meeter if `security_groups` is transmitted via task or not), that context will create additional security group.
09:07 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : is there any workaround for this ?
09:08 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @abhi6254 no. you can manually just remove `"allow_ssh": {}` and it will help for your case
09:09 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : Ohhh, Great, So after removing `"allow_ssh": {}` there is no security group create by `vmtasks.py`?
09:09 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : yes
09:10 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : Ok, Thanks.
09:11 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : dileepr: can you execute http://xsnippet.org/362280/ ? it will give me some debug information
09:12 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] abhi6254 : And passing `"security_groups": [<name_of_secgroup>]` in scenario with port 22 enable?
09:12 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : yes
09:12 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : and icmp

13:30 kaloyan are there json schemes for all of the tasks
13:31 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : kaloyan: hi! task yaml/json file is actually jinja2 template. You can use all features of templates - use whatever you want variables, loops and etc
13:38 kaloyan ok, but i dont understand how rally will connect the added var to the var i use in the methods
13:38 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : what variables do you mean?
13:40 kaloyan for example i want to add var "result_file": "xx" to the task VMTasks.boot_runcommand_delete

20:01 MasterOfBugs hey Guys, We had run rally on an existing deployment which we had done using OSA. The Rally created many VMs (Around 1000) and the rally task aborted due to some reason. Now we want to clean up the env (Which Rally is supposed to)). Can anyone point me how to clean up the VMS, NEtworks, Poets, Subnets and whatever it has created???
20:03 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : MasterOfBugs: hi! actually, it is not so easy as it can be...
20:03 MasterOfBugs Oh ok! :-|

20:04 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : MasterOfBugs: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/275340/18 after merging that patch, it will be easy to implement "disaster cleanup"
20:04 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : do you have any not rally related resources in used tenants?
20:04 MasterOfBugs Cool!
20:05 MasterOfBugs Yes we have some 7 rally tenants

20:05 MasterOfBugs we have non rally resource in tennats too

20:06 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : it can help to remove only "rally-related-resources"
20:07 MasterOfBugs Oh ok! So the VMs and other resource should be deleted manually is it?
20:07 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : no
20:08 MasterOfBugs oh COol! I got it

20:14 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @shihai1991 Can you take care about https://review.openstack.org/#/c/275340/18 ? possibly, it can require a rebase and addressing comments(if we find something negative there)
20:48 MasterOfBugs Cool! Will change that
20:48 MasterOfBugs :)
20:48 MasterOfBugs Thanks Andrey

20:52 andreww andreykurilin: `"auto_assign_nic": --- is that an arg to the yaml/jason? does it go to args or context? or is it a commandline option?
20:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: your should transmit it as scenario argument
20:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : http://rally.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins/plugin_reference.html#scenario-novaservers-boot-and-delete-server-kwargs
20:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : note some scenarios accepts additional argument for booting vm via kwargs, others has special key like "server_boot_kwargs", so you need to set `"server_boot_kwargs": {"auto_assign_nic": True}`
20:57 openstackstatus NOTICE: We're currently battling an increase in log volume which isn't leaving sufficient space for new jobs to upload logs and results in POST_FAILURE in those cases; recheck if necessary but keep spurious rebasing and rechecking to a minimum until we're in the clear.
20:59 andreww boot_and_delete_server is still raiding `BadRequest: Multiple possible networks found, use a Network ID to be more specific. (HTTP 400)` (there are many networks)
21:00 andreww I guess I need to pass some of the context vars like in https://github.com/openstack/rally/blob/master/samples/tasks/scenarios/nova/boot-and-delete.yaml#L35
21:02 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: sorry, just looked throw the code. My previous assumption was wrong. auto_assign_nic=True helps in case of usage network context(it will create N temporary networks. N can be specified) to choose one of created networks(if N > 1)
21:08 andreww andreykurilin: so what should I be doing in the case of established provider networks?
21:10 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: you can try to use http://rally.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins/plugin_reference.html#existing-network-context context. it accept empty values. it should be used with auto_assign_nic: True
21:28 andreww I added "context": {"existing_network": {}} with the auto_assign_nic, that worked
21:28 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : cool
21:28 andreww I'm not sure how to pick a specific network yet, but it ran.
21:29 andreww and did a good job proving some of my HV's are broken =)
21:29 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: if you need to pick just specific network, you can transmit net-id as one of boot arguments
21:30 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : "nics": [{"net-id": "put here network id to use"}]
21:30 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : you can use it instead of specifying existing_users context and auto_assign_nic True
21:30 andreww as **kwargs, or under a specific key you mentioned as server_boot_args?
21:32 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: we have a lot of scenarios that boots server. They have different argument. Since NovaServers.boot_and_delete_server scenario works only with server resource, all server specific arguments can be transmitted via **kwargs
21:32 andreww ok
21:32 andreww ok, so the next thing I'm looking to do is to explicitly loop over every HV, and then loop again over each network for that AZ
21:33 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : just like "NovaServers.boot_and_delete_server": {"args": {"nics": [{"net-id": "asdasd"}]}, "runner": {...}, "context": {...}}
21:33 andreww ok, nice
21:34 andreww I was looking over some of the jinja stuff, but am uncertian how to unpack the data to that
21:34 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : For example, in case of NovaServers.boot_server_attach_created_volume_and_live_migrate scenario, you will need to wrap server related arguments into specific argument - http://rally.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins/plugin_reference.html#scenario-novaservers-boot-server-attach-created-volume-and-live-migrate-boot-server-kwargs
21:34 openstackgerrit Roman Vasylets proposed openstack/rally master: Improve Task status list  https://review.openstack.org/309883
21:35 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: jinja template doesn't have access to discovering resources, so you can just specify them manually
21:35 andreww eventually, I'm looking to report which hosts can't boot, so I can disable them
21:35 andreww ok, so I'd create some arglist for it to loop over, and pass that?
21:35 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : https://github.com/openstack/rally/blob/master/rally-jobs/nova.yaml#L184-L202
21:35 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : you can use loop like here
21:37 andreww ok, thanks. I'll explore this more
21:37 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : andreww: if you need to check network for servers, I can suggest you to use VMTask scenario. It boots vm, attaches ip, checks that vm is pingable and execute a command at the vm via ssh
21:38 andreww ya, I saw that. I'm working my way to it
21:38 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : :)
21:39 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : I think it is one of the powerful scenarios that we have for OpenStack
21:39 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : it checks the whole stack:)
